Speaker A

Along with bottles.

Speaker B

Overlaps away.

Speaker B

Headed on frame.

Speaker A

And one save from Zamudia.

Speaker A

Again, traditional center back.

Speaker B

Welcome to Canon.

Speaker C

Charles Charleston Battery.

Speaker A

Your host will be joined by other defenders.

Speaker C

Distance away initially.

Speaker A

Second ball is good.

Speaker C

It is three.

Speaker B

They are the Cann crew.

Speaker B

Welcome to the can of crew.

Speaker B

I am granite and I am joined here by Ryan.

Speaker B

How are you, Ryan?

Speaker C

I'm doing great.

Speaker C

Granite, how are you?

Speaker B

I'm doing all right.

Speaker B

So you've been off coaching stuff like at West Ashley High?

Speaker C

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker C

We just finished up the season, made it to the second round of the playoffs.

Speaker C

Just got knocked out by Wando, but Dirty Wando.

Speaker B

That's right.

Speaker B

I want us a strong team.

Speaker B

I mean, they're just.

Speaker B

I expect them to win state.

Speaker B

I mean, they're just incredibly strong.

Speaker B

And West Ashley boys, they did all right.

Speaker B

They didn't do that bad.

Speaker B

They went out there, worked hard.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

Ryan's very confident in that assessment.

Speaker B

Thank you, coach Ryan and all you poor little souls out there that play for West Ashley.

Speaker B

Ryan's hurt.

Speaker C

Here's do it.

Speaker B

Okay, so let's go on to our other semi.

Speaker B

World traveler down in from the great.

Speaker B

What is that in your background?

Speaker A

A nice little island off of Puerto Rico.

Speaker C

Yay.

Speaker B

Oh, is that where you've been hiding?

Speaker A

Scouting?

Speaker A

We'll say scouting.

Speaker B

Scouting.

Speaker B

So that's where you've been scouting.

Speaker B

So tell us about it.

Speaker A

So, Yeah, I found zero players.

Speaker A

About 40, 50 wild horses too small to play.

Speaker A

Don't think they would be manageable on the squad.

Speaker A

Juan David May can round them up and get him in line, but besides that, who knows?

Speaker A

We already got a great new defender at the back who's starting to slide into this team very consistently.

Speaker A

So I think we have the wall set, and we don't need a bunch of roosters crowing around and making noise because we have Arturo, who does that to the ref already.

Speaker A

So we're good.

Speaker B

So last week was a crazy week, and Patrick is down in Puerto Rico, and I have, like, cars breaking down, my daughter's cars breaking down, stuff like that.

Speaker B

So he sends a nice little meme.

Speaker B

Well, it wasn't even a meme.

Speaker B

It was you walking down the street.

Speaker B

And he said, here's some transportation I could send you.

Speaker B

And it was one of those nice little horses walking up the street, which is probably more efficient and get further than.

Speaker B

Than the cars I was trying to juggle last week.

Speaker B

So we're here.

Speaker B

Talk a little bit about the last match.

Speaker B

And that was against our rivals, Tampa Bay.

Speaker B

They are a team that's going to start out with they this year.

Speaker B

They are a team.

Speaker B

They show that they're a team.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

So I'm not going to talk about them being anymore.

Speaker B

So let's talk about how great we are.

Speaker B

So what's your general thoughts on the last match?

Speaker B

Ryan.

Speaker C

Dem D meers the show baby.

Speaker C

He's back.

Speaker C

That's all I got to say.

Speaker B

He's got a brace for the other league now.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker B

Why so Ryan, I'm going to throw this at you.

Speaker B

Why are we giving up goals?

Speaker C

Because defensively we're susceptible to it when we're going on a counter and from my point of view it's hard to always or to to predict a shutout for us.

Speaker C

Like that's why I'm very protective about calling the shutout.

Speaker C

It's because when we go on a counter or go on an attack and we have the majority of possession like we generally do for these games, playing the 4, 2, 3, 1 then you have numbers high and you try to shift your back line like we've been trying to do and try to have your outside backs go higher or one of your outside backs and then you have three in the back shift across.

Speaker C

It leaves you susceptible to an over the top ball or ball to be slotted through if you're not quick on the counter.

Speaker C

And we're we are susceptible for our sixes kind of get caught one way or another.

Speaker C

I just feel like Route 90 minutes.

Speaker C

It's hard not to get caught one time.

Speaker C

And you got to realize too that both teams are pros so you have to respect them at some level to think that you know the other team can get a goal.

Speaker C

We're just that much better that we outscore them.

Speaker B

It's always good when we're scoring goals because that helps alleviate the little concern of having them score one.

Speaker B

Patrick, what's your general thoughts on the Tampa Bay no quarters.

Speaker B

Something rather Darby that we took no quarters.

Speaker C

The RV baby got our first program.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker A

My take is business is done.

Speaker A

That's Tampa Bay twice.

Speaker A

Tampa Bay two wins.

Speaker A

See ya dusted off.

Speaker A

We will see you in the believe the Jagermeister Cup.

Speaker A

Correct.

Speaker A

But that's it and that's all you can ask out of a team during the season is shut them down at home.

Speaker A

Yes, we gave up a goal but scrap that went out 2, 1 and then go into their house and dominate the entire game and they got a goal.

Speaker A

I mean honestly it should have been 5, 6, 7 to nothing and maybe they got a scrap goal.

Speaker A

There was a lot More that the Battery did in this and showed how strong we are as a real team.

Speaker A

And when we went on Saturday that we will be the number one team in the USL Championship again.

Speaker A

But, yeah, dominance.

Speaker A

I mean, you can't ask for it.

Speaker A

Yeah, we'll give up some goals here and there, but Zhu made some incredible double saves.

Speaker A

Incredible single saves.

Speaker A

I thought all around we looked great.

Speaker A

And sometimes you just.

Speaker A

It happens.

Speaker A

I mean, the shot that they got a goal on, we'll talk about it, but it was incredible.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker A

And sometimes you just have those in a match that you can't prevent.

Speaker A

I mean, we see it all the time with Juan David.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker C

Yeah, and Pat, just to piggyback off of you, I mean, like you remember last year with Adam Granny.

Speaker C

I mean, he made.

Speaker C

He had tons of game.

Speaker C

Save the weeks and stuff like that or save the months, and he was still susceptible to getting a goal on him.

Speaker C

He was just one of those things where you have to respect the team.

Speaker C

You're playing still at the end of the day for full 90 minutes and it's hard for a full 90.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

So let's talk about the back.

Speaker B

Let's talk about the back four real quick because that's what we're really focusing on.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

So we're not playing with our normal back four.

Speaker B

We've got injuries, that whole backline.

Speaker B

We had to bring in Edwards, who's been a great loan so far.

Speaker B

He looks so calm and relaxed back there, you know, moving the ball around, and even when he's under pressure, he doesn't look stressed.

Speaker B

And you got Joey and Landry, who's normally a midfielder, playing their left back, I think this time.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker B

And Blackstock, who's not a right back, but we're not playing our back four like we're used to.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

I would say for as much as a Graham Smith lover, I have been, Edwards may be the guy who knocks him off that pedestal.

Speaker A

Just the way he plays and the way he covers and the way he directs.

Speaker A

He has everything you look for.

Speaker A

And he didn't take a game or two to get settled.

Speaker A

He was in there immediately.

Speaker A

His.

Speaker A

His first game is what D.C.

Speaker A

united, which.

Speaker A

Stay tuned.

Speaker A

We're going to have a little in depth US Open cup pod in the upcoming week or so.

Speaker A

But he incredible.

Speaker A

Like, he's a true definition of professional coming in and looks like, hey, you can put me into any system.

Speaker A

I'll shift the guys where we need to be the coach.

Speaker A

I already know what he wants and he implemented plans and if.

Speaker A

I mean, we've been asking this for well over a year.

Speaker A

What happens if we lose Archer or Graham Smith?

Speaker A

Because they are a rock at the back and we're seeing it.

Speaker A

We finally have some backups who can play at a top tier level and we don't have to ship them off and get rid of them just because they're not going to get playing time.

Speaker A

So I, I'm loving our center back situation.

Speaker A

I love our outside back in Landry even more.

Speaker A

And granted I think you were talking about it is that pyramid or maybe one of the announcers.

Speaker A

Pierman kind of saw him in this role of.

Speaker A

He had like the most blocks or most block chances last season and that's.

Speaker A

He was like you are going to be the best left back ever in the championship.

Speaker A

And he just put him there and he's built this trust and attacking.

Speaker A

He is insanely dangerous defending.

Speaker A

He's the first guy back.

Speaker A

I don't know where he gets his energy from but I'm glad he's on our side.

Speaker B

I.

Speaker B

Yeah, he.

Speaker B

He was.

Speaker B

He was doing a little the dark arts there during this match too with a game white or whatever get him all fired up.

Speaker B

That was kind of fun.

Speaker B

So it's.

Speaker B

It's a great.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

I'm glad he can play back there because it moves Alan back up in the center so he's playing you know that double pivot with.

Speaker B

With Aaron which is.

Speaker B

Which is so valuable for us to.

Speaker B

To control that midfield and that linkage from the back to the front with those two because it's just.

Speaker B

They're just phenomenal playing as teammates.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

I think if we could touch on Joey just for a second.

Speaker A

I think he was one.

Speaker A

We had few questions on of course can he build and maybe get his confidence back and I think a player like Edwards kind of does that for him.

Speaker A

Knowing you have this strong player beside you who will cover your mistake if you make one and it's not that big of a deal.

Speaker A

We'll move on, we'll move forward.

Speaker A

I mean it kind of just changes the whole dynamic of a defensive team or a defensive line rather to just have the trust built where a little mistake is, hey, play it off.

Speaker A

It's not a big deal.

Speaker A

And we have the firepower to go and grab goals whenever we need them.

Speaker B

Absolutely.

Speaker B

Absolutely.

Speaker B

You know Joey I think did a fantastic job because I think the first 15, 20 minutes they were kind of giving us a little rough time.

Speaker B

We weren't necessarily control the game like we were after that point and so they were a Pushing us and trying to probe that backline.

Speaker B

But we were holding, you know, everything up against him and we were.

Speaker B

Got back in control of the game.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And one of the guys that we've kind of talked about a bit, Rodriguez, breaks through and wins a penalty, which I'm a little surprised he didn't take it.

Speaker A

But this run and this contact, this isn't contact that we've seen in every other game where the ref tells him to get up.

Speaker A

You like.

Speaker A

Yes.

Speaker A

He was fouled again and they actually called it this time.

Speaker A

So it's nice this to see it finally him get a call and he doesn't have to freak out on a referee or anybody.

Speaker B

I think he still did, but it was.

Speaker B

It was good that I, I looked at it again.

Speaker B

I was like, did he really get touched that bad?

Speaker B

Did he just.

Speaker B

Did he develop that situation in a more favorable circumstance for himself in the eyes of the referee?

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

Oh, I'll take it all day long.

Speaker A

What'd you guys make of the.

Speaker A

The penalty kick?

Speaker A

Because the goalie did go the same way and just.

Speaker A

It went under him somehow.

Speaker B

I think it was a go ahead, Ryan.

Speaker C

No, no, I was going to say it was well placed and it was just perfect spot for the keeper not to get to it.

Speaker C

I mean, it was a poor dive on his part because I teach my, you know, I kind of teach not to do what's called a dolphin dive, where you arch your old hard back and you know, your leg is down here and then your hands are down here.

Speaker C

You give this giant arc that leaves you susceptible to that easy ball going underneath because you don't.

Speaker C

It's kind of hard to judge where the ball is exactly going from 10 yards out and it's kicked like that one on one.

Speaker C

Every keeper has their different methods and how they save it, you know, and especially too with Cal being with Tampa last year and playing with his keeper and having all the training sessions and everything.

Speaker C

He knows exactly where he's going.

Speaker C

It's more about just having the confidence and so put it there.

Speaker B

I, I didn't think it was that strong of a pk.

Speaker C

It wasn't like he wasn't hit hard.

Speaker C

It was just placed well.

Speaker B

I.

Speaker B

I'd rather have it closer to the post and than what he had.

Speaker B

But is that the same side he went to when.

Speaker B

When they were yelling the key?

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

So I see why he went that way.

Speaker B

But this time he didn't trash talk.

Speaker B

He turned around and walked away confidently.

Speaker A

So I only asked that because I want to hear your thoughts on.

Speaker A

Do you think MD is a better PK taker?

Speaker A

And if they're both on the field, would you rather see him take them?

Speaker A

Because he does know how to place the ball really well.

Speaker C

Cal or md Maryland?

Speaker C

They both did.

Speaker C

They both know how to place the ball really well.

Speaker C

If it was me choosing, of course, I'm going to say MD all day long.

Speaker C

It may be in Cal's contracts or it may be, you know, a training thing where they do.

Speaker C

Where it's, you know, they do end at the end of the session.

Speaker C

Whoever wins best out of five gets to take penalty cakes for the next day.

Speaker C

I don't know how or what Cal did to get that spot other than, you know, leading the league and goals and everything that he has.

Speaker C

But I.

Speaker C

I don't know why MD is not taking anymore.

Speaker B

Because Cal, our man, because he's, he's.

Speaker C

This is something for youth players to realize too, that you can't have every single guy taking a ball.

Speaker C

If you have.

Speaker C

Once you're professional or you're even in the collegiate level, there is a designated penalty kick taker who takes pins.

Speaker C

If you get fouled, you get up and you go give that ball to the person who's going to take the kick.

Speaker C

You're not taking it.

Speaker C

That's just how it is.

Speaker C

And if you get upset by it, or if you try to throw a fit, or if you try to go take the pen yourself, guess what happens?

Speaker C

You get yanked off the field and you will not see the field.

Speaker C

A professional for Florentina did the other day where he got fouled.

Speaker C

He grabbed the ball, wouldn't give it to his captain, took the pen, scored it, and guess what?

Speaker C

He was immediately subbed off and was put on loan.

Speaker C

He's already done.

Speaker B

That's what we should do, is loan out.

Speaker B

Any player does that.

Speaker A

And then Cal, Cal's shot that hasn't landed yet, still coming down from space.

Speaker A

Where would he be right now if it were.

Speaker C

He needed one miss.

Speaker C

Needed one miss.

Speaker C

You just need to get that one out of the way.

Speaker C

And he's good now.

Speaker B

Okay, there's a big miss too.

Speaker B

Maybe that's it.

Speaker B

So instead of a bunch of little misses, he did one huge miss.

Speaker C

One huge one.

Speaker C

Get out of the way that Kate's scare of all of them.

Speaker B

He's been killing it ever since.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Yeah, like the first, you know, 15, 20 minutes.

Speaker B

Not even 20 minutes.

Speaker B

And just in my notes, I was just saying we just been.

Speaker B

We were not in control of the Game like we normally are, and then all of a sudden it switched.

Speaker B

So we're up one nil.

Speaker B

And it's so important to get that first goal because it just, you know, allows us to play a little bit differently, play more to our game.

Speaker B

And then all of a sudden, something magical happens.

Speaker B

Right, Ryan, talk us through it since it's the doctor.

Speaker C

So beautiful ball sat in.

Speaker C

I mean, it was a beautiful run by Torres to come in underneath.

Speaker B

Who is in?

Speaker C

Torres.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker C

Juan David.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

I'm just coming to the needle.

Speaker B

Every time you say Taurus, I'm going to highlight it.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker C

When you see.

Speaker C

And I wanted to point out too, of his freedom again, because where he gets the ball and collects it, he's in the middle of the field, collects the ball, saddles it.

Speaker C

Perfect chip right over the middle, right to MB Takes a first touch goal.

Speaker C

I mean, I don't think he needed to take a touch.

Speaker C

The ball was placed just.

Speaker C

Just perfect.

Speaker C

It's beautiful.

Speaker C

It was.

Speaker C

You watched it.

Speaker C

You're like.

Speaker C

He's like your breath away.

Speaker C

Because you're, you know, nine times out of 10, any other league you watch that ball is well overplayed.

Speaker C

That keeper gets that ball all day long because no one knows how to have the perfect pass or the perfect weight to the chip.

Speaker C

And Juan David does.

Speaker B

Well, wasn't.

Speaker A

Wasn't this a.

Speaker A

A Cal Jennings run?

Speaker B

Yeah, Cal Jennings got a second ball and brought it down and he was running and Juan David was on the right and MD Was on his left.

Speaker A

I mean, you can't.

Speaker A

You gotta remember, he.

Speaker A

He chest fall down into stride, which was.

Speaker C

Yeah, no, it was chest into stride.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

And then.

Speaker B

And then Juan Divi took every defender to that side and it was a beautiful cutback by Cal to get to MD And MD Did a fantastic job of not overkilling it, overcooking it, just putting it right where he needs it.

Speaker B

Nice and calm.

Speaker A

A spectacular finish, might I add to the side netting, which.

Speaker A

Yes, his head is down.

Speaker A

He doesn't have to look at the goal.

Speaker A

Somehow he just knows.

Speaker B

He just knows.

Speaker B

Don't look up until you hear the net.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker A

Must have been those six years in college studying to get that doctorate.

Speaker B

Hell no.

Speaker B

Maybe.

Speaker A

Maybe muscle memory now.

Speaker B

So how many goals is that for MD this season?

Speaker C

I believe it's eight.

Speaker B

And in the.

Speaker B

On the champ USL Championship, it was number four, I think.

Speaker B

Hold on, I'm on it right now.

Speaker C

I'm looking it up.

Speaker C

I can't believe I don't know about my head.

Speaker B

That's Recent, like, challenge.

Speaker B

Oh, yeah, it's.

Speaker C

That's for Lindis.

Speaker B

Where is he at?

Speaker B

MD.

Speaker C

Now he's got five.

Speaker C

Yeah, five goals.

Speaker B

He does now, because we're gonna talk about the fifth one, right?

Speaker B

As you're looking through your Rolodex on how many.

Speaker B

How many goals?

Speaker B

The doctor board, we're gonna talk about the next one.

Speaker B

That one's just pure grafting, right?

Speaker B

You're up there and you just put yourself in a position.

Speaker B

Arturo knocks it off the keeper and go and take it away.

Speaker A

Challenge.

Speaker A

I challenge anyone to go to their own doctor's office and find a cleanlier setting.

Speaker A

MD Cleans everything up.

Speaker C

Y.

Speaker A

He leaves no dust, no dirt, no ball behind.

Speaker A

He gets it all.

Speaker B

I love how he gets now because he's so clean.

Speaker B

Because, you know, as being the doctor, he's got to, you know, scrub in, scrub out, that kind of thing.

Speaker B

So he's got to clean everything up in there.

Speaker B

It's kind of like a sturgeon.

Speaker C

He's still on same pace for the same for what he did last year.

Speaker C

Eight games in, guess what?

Speaker C

He's got eight goals across three different competitions right now.

Speaker C

He has five goals, one assist right now in USL Championship.

Speaker C

The only difference between last year and this year is that last year or this year, he didn't play the first two games because he was out.

Speaker C

And last year he also had a few more assists to Mark Hannik and to Torres out wide this year.

Speaker C

Now having Cal up front, it seems like MD is getting more.

Speaker C

A little bit more of those free goals.

Speaker C

Cal gets more of the penalty kicks, the free kick, stuff like that.

Speaker C

I feel like MD gets a lot of the open play goals.

Speaker B

Open play, yeah.

Speaker B

Which is fantastic.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker C

That's what we were talking about earlier too, is about how the battery need to exploit the open play goals.

Speaker C

Because that's what I thought would be lack towards the end of last season.

Speaker B

Well, I think we come at teams now, and I think the first, not the pk, but the second goal was very telling of what teams have to face.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

They're facing three dynamic players, and so you have three different choices.

Speaker B

Cal could have kept that one himself.

Speaker B

He could have went to Juan David, but he decided to go to md and their defensive backs were just all confused, didn't know what to do.

Speaker B

They went with what they thought would be the most likely, and it turned out the most likely was the doctor being surgical.

Speaker C

Yeah, they didn't know what to do because they're actually playing against a team who's selfless, you know, they would know what to do if they're planning in someone like Miami or Hartford or something like that, where the player is going to be selfish because they really trust their teammates to put the ball in the back of the net.

Speaker C

Probably not.

Speaker C

Are they going to try to do it themselves?

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker C

Are they going to get crunched, tackled right at the last second?

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker C

You know when you're going against the battering, just like you said, granted you have those three players across the top of you.

Speaker C

What are you gonna do?

Speaker B

Yeah, they come and bar and you're.

Speaker C

Gonna get our turn and pissed off again.

Speaker B

So I was, I was looking.

Speaker B

We had 20 shots.

Speaker B

That's only six of them on target.

Speaker B

But that was enough.

Speaker A

Yeah, I mean the one you talk about these guys being self.

Speaker A

Selfless.

Speaker A

MD would have had a assist too if it wasn't for a slight offside because he got the ball to Arturo who hammered it home and it's an offside goal.

Speaker A

But still, I mean this is like.

Speaker A

Plays like that are.

Speaker A

When you're.

Speaker A

When it's 00 and you just see the ball go in the net, the confidence build, let alone being up 2 nil, 3 nil.

Speaker A

And then we had another one with.

Speaker A

Was it.

Speaker A

Ruben had a goal who was.

Speaker A

I mean he was a little more offside, but even that one was great play by him.

Speaker A

So we're seeing the goals go in.

Speaker A

We just got a little bit more on the timing and we're scoring four or five a game.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker C

And a lot of those guys are.

Speaker C

I mean Reuben, that was that his first second game playing with us.

Speaker C

Right.

Speaker C

That game playing with us.

Speaker C

I mean he's going to get his timing down.

Speaker C

I mean it's just.

Speaker C

How do you not get excited with that?

Speaker C

You know, I mean you're playing against Tampa the second time of the season and you just batter them at home.

Speaker C

It's just great.

Speaker B

They battered them.

Speaker B

We did.

Speaker B

I mean it was like we only had half our cannon shooting and it was the small ones too.

Speaker B

It wasn't even the big cannons.

Speaker B

It was just like the little deck guns that they have on the.

Speaker B

On the edge of the thing that you put the little like ball in as, as we have the awkward pause.

Speaker B

I was trying to look up some like Juan de had 61 passes.

Speaker A

Oh, there we go there.

Speaker A

He's.

Speaker A

He found his Juan David stats.

Speaker B

Yeah, I found my one David stats.

Speaker B

Juan David.

Speaker B

I mean he, he.

Speaker B

He's the power behind this right now.

Speaker B

When he's not playing, we're hurting and I was wondering if it was the back line and kind of, you know, with Aaron moving around a little bit here and there and that's causing that linkage not to be there.

Speaker B

But I, it seems like Juan Davids the, the that attacking energy that we need in that midfield to, to cause a little bit of mayhem.

Speaker B

And, and the other cool thing is every once in a while him and Arturo switched like they, like he used to do with Nick last season.

Speaker B

Every once in a while they'll switch side, see how it works and then and switch back.

Speaker B

And at some point in the half, kind of like we had that pause.

Speaker B

It got so boring for the announcers.

Speaker B

I don't know if you noticed their discussion right after the second goal.

Speaker B

They said they were talking about be a goldfish reference to the Greyhounds.

Speaker B

Talked about Dory just kind of forgetting what just happened.

Speaker B

And they went off and discussed some other things for about like five minutes.

Speaker B

It was that boring for, for not for us but for Tampa Bay and then they come back into it.

Speaker B

But it's kind of, kind of interesting that they went off on that little tangent.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

I will another thing to point out.

Speaker A

This is what five league wins in a row for the Battery.

Speaker A

It is and I believe that puts us.

Speaker A

We have one game in hand but with the win on Saturday that would put us first not only in the east but first in the championship.

Speaker B

Because San Antonio, they're number one on the Western Conference.

Speaker B

But they're six points.

Speaker B

Yeah, they're like a loss, loss, win, drawing a loss.

Speaker B

They're, they're.

Speaker B

That Western Conference is kind of.

Speaker C

Well in San Antonio, the team that started off hot, I mean they were, they, they were the last undefeated team standing in the west and now they've dropped their last out of their last seven games.

Speaker C

They've won one game.

Speaker C

I think it was like four straight.

Speaker C

They've dropped or they, I think they had a time between.

Speaker C

But I mean still, I mean their tie was against Rhode Island.

Speaker B

Yeah, they're losing the like mid table teams and below.

Speaker C

Yeah, their first loss was against Miami.

Speaker B

Yeah, well there was a loss before that.

Speaker B

There was loss to Phoenix who's sitting 10 on the 10th on their side.

Speaker B

And their last loss was against Oakland which is ninth.

Speaker C

That Oakland game was crazy.

Speaker C

88th minute game winner and they drew.

Speaker B

To Rhode island who's sitting, you know, 10th in our side of the table.

Speaker B

So it's interesting.

Speaker B

Interesting.

Speaker B

It should be an interesting game.

Speaker A

Wonder if.

Speaker A

Oh no, go ahead Granite.

Speaker B

Let's go back to 35 minutes and because I have written down point Blank double save.

Speaker B

Remember that, Ryan?

Speaker C

No.

Speaker A

Oh, incredible.

Speaker B

Look at it again.

Speaker B

Incredible.

Speaker B

Incredible.

Speaker A

One guy comes in, shoots.

Speaker A

The ball does not go in.

Speaker B

Safe one.

Speaker A

Next guy.

Speaker A

Hey, I kind of like sports.

Speaker A

I want to be a hero.

Speaker A

Doesn't go in the tentacle.

Speaker B

Comes in.

Speaker A

Double save.

Speaker A

But the double save wasn't pushing it away.

Speaker A

He catches the second one.

Speaker C

Was it like.

Speaker C

Was it inside the six, like, where they were crashing in?

Speaker C

Like the guy was running into the box.

Speaker C

Shoots it.

Speaker C

Saved.

Speaker C

The other guy's running in right behind him.

Speaker C

Shoots it.

Speaker C

Saved and held.

Speaker A

It was all reflections and speed, and it was incredible.

Speaker A

So if anyone listening out there, go back and just.

Speaker A

What was that, Brad?

Speaker A

35.

Speaker B

35 minutes.

Speaker A

Yeah, just start at 34 minutes and just watch that run a play because it does get very crowded where you're not really sure where the ball is.

Speaker A

And then like after a tornado, the clouds just shift away and you see the octopus just standing there holding the ball.

Speaker B

The octopus.

Speaker C

And that's something that's very frustrating for young keepers, though, because they like to make that excuse of, well, if he was in front of me, I couldn't see.

Speaker C

And it's like, you gotta be able to see around these players, you know, if you want to make that next step to where you know, that next chapter in your life.

Speaker C

You got to be able to see.

Speaker C

Get yourself low, see through their hips, see through their legs.

Speaker C

I mean, you got to be able to see that ball constantly.

Speaker B

Well, you know, being El Pupo, maybe he has different eye sockets or something.

Speaker B

You can see through legs.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker C

See you way.

Speaker B

But whatever we did, he did a very good job.

Speaker B

And then shortly after that, one other thing appointed because, you know, I'm just in my.

Speaker B

My ranting about a certain player.

Speaker A

Who.

Speaker B

Was shoulder to shoulder with a player who's probably like a foot and a half taller than him.

Speaker B

And he just held him off with his arm.

Speaker B

I was like, m.

Speaker B

He just.

Speaker B

He just kill it.

Speaker B

He's.

Speaker B

He's now out muscling the muscle, people.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Okay, let's go to the second half.

Speaker B

That about sums it up.

Speaker B

It was news fest for Tampa Bay at that point.

Speaker A

Yeah, I'll give him props for their goal because they did break.

Speaker A

Few break through a few times in a row.

Speaker A

And then he got one.

Speaker A

He got it in.

Speaker A

And it was a beautiful goal.

Speaker A

I mean, it is one that's just.

Speaker A

It's hard to save.

Speaker A

And it wasn't like, hey, you're just straight through.

Speaker A

It was at a tough angle.

Speaker A

So kudos to him for getting that beautiful goal.

Speaker A

Probably move on from Tampa and have a great career.

Speaker B

He needs to, because that's kind of what Cal did, right?

Speaker B

Cal's about ready to take off on his great career.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

I have down second half and then I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Z's right in a row, starting with a big Z and then kind of getting smaller.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Oh, I'm sorry.

Speaker B

After that, I have Tampa Bay and to the one announcer who.

Speaker B

Who was brilliant, that said Rowdy's won the second half.

Speaker B

Well done.

Speaker B

Yeah, well done.

Speaker A

How.

Speaker A

How did that war turn out?

Speaker A

They won that battle.

Speaker A

Great, great job.

Speaker B

Great job.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker B

And one other point.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

I think I always tell you guys, I was never trust a referee with a hat.

Speaker B

Never trust the coach with a hat.

Speaker B

So, Tampa Bay, take your hat off.

Speaker B

Maybe you'll be a better coach, I don't know, because he's having a rough time.

Speaker B

Have anything else to add, gentlemen?

Speaker A

Just the game coming up.

Speaker A

Maybe we'll see.

Speaker A

Jake back at the stadium, might get a start.

Speaker A

He did play in the last game, but he didn't start.

Speaker A

So maybe a little.

Speaker A

Not a huge homecoming, but a little bit of a homecoming, maybe so.

Speaker B

Because we're playing San Antonio, right?

Speaker C

7:30 kickoff, San Antonio.

Speaker C

7:30, military appreciation night.

Speaker C

Got new jerseys at the back.

Speaker C

Just dropped.

Speaker C

Should be looking good.

Speaker B

So let's talk about predictions.

Speaker A

I was going to say Jake might be on the bench and just slightly walk over to our bench and sit down.

Speaker B

Sit down.

Speaker A

Because I think the way San Antonio is going and the way we're starting to click hard, I'm gonna go with a 4 0.

Speaker A

I think it's going to be really tough.

Speaker B

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker A

Ryan sitting here with his hands one better.

Speaker A

Ryan.

Speaker C

What?

Speaker B

Did you hear that, Ryan?

Speaker A

What?

Speaker A

Hat trick.

Speaker C

I would love that.

Speaker C

Oh, man.

Speaker C

I don't even know what to guess at that point.

Speaker C

I mean, 3:1 was our last game.

Speaker C

I'm gonna go.

Speaker C

I'm gonna go with this struggle two to one.

Speaker C

We have to fight because again, this is still another professional side that we have to respect.

Speaker C

And they're still first in the west for a reason.

Speaker C

Right now.

Speaker C

Gonna respect them on the road.

Speaker C

Two to one victory for us.

Speaker C

With a goal from Juan David and.

Speaker C

And D.

Speaker C

Myers.

Speaker B

I'm going two nil.

Speaker B

That's what I always say, two nil.

Speaker B

But this time we're going to mix it up a little bit.

Speaker B

Juan Davies gonna get the second goal.

Speaker B

And one day we're going to get the first goal.

Speaker B

Embrace Rwanda.

Speaker A

I Mean, you get.

Speaker A

You got to point out they are going to be without their left sided center half.

Speaker A

So, like they play typically round three at the back.

Speaker A

That's Juan DVDs side.

Speaker B

That's his territory.

Speaker A

And they're going to have a backup in because he can't play this.

Speaker B

I was going something more technical than that.

Speaker B

I was like, Patrick's close to Columbia this past week, so it's got to bring some of the good luck back here to Charleston.

Speaker A

That could be it too.

Speaker A

I have the sunshine still on my body.

Speaker B

Sorry.

Speaker C

Go ahead.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

So, Patrick, can you move aside and give us a tour of your.

Speaker B

Of your place that you've been.

Speaker A

What we're currently in is the watchtower where you need to go up three floors to check the weather, which did not vary.

Speaker A

You have the pool, which no one could have guessed that pool house.

Speaker A

That's where I lived.

Speaker A

And some other grill stuff and fun areas.

Speaker A

And then out here is just the ocean and all the horses and all the king's men.

Speaker A

They couldn't put Tampa back together again.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker B

And the dinosaur.

Speaker B

You had a dinosaur attack, right?

Speaker A

Correct.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

The airport did look like the Jurassic park, like center compound.

Speaker A

They had a big spiral staircase up.

Speaker B

That was referencing the iguana.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

So what was your drink of the week?

Speaker A

No iguanas were harmed.

Speaker B

What was your drink of the week about?

Speaker B

Horses.

Speaker B

Were horses armed?

Speaker A

There's a very local beer called Medea.

Speaker A

So it's.

Speaker A

It's not the best, but it's not the worst.

Speaker B

Hey, you know, when you're in country, sometimes their beer is better than anything else.

Speaker B

I remember being in Panama and I think the beer was called Balboa or something like that.

Speaker B

And it was just phenomenal.

Speaker B

Not quite like Guinness and phenomenal, but.

Speaker A

We made it out.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker B

So what was your best food you had down there?

Speaker A

Fish.

Speaker A

Fresh fish.

Speaker A

I mean, we're Charleston boys.

Speaker A

We.

Speaker A

We love the seafood.

Speaker A

But you still go anywhere and they're.

Speaker A

They're catching it fresh.

Speaker A

You got to eat it fresh, so.

Speaker B

Yeah, yeah, very good.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

On that.

Speaker B

You have everything left to.

Speaker B

For the good of the crew, Ryan.

Speaker C

No, for those young youth players listening, I got 2009 tryouts for Charleston United on Tuesday and Thursday, May 20th and 22nd, coming up.

Speaker C

So if you're in the area and want to come and try out, tryouts are free.

Speaker B

Or just not even try out.

Speaker B

Just go kind of hang out and chill and do some workout.

Speaker C

Right, that too.

Speaker B

And then you, then you grab them and say, hey, you need to play for for Ryan Martin.

Speaker C

That's what we try.

Speaker B

Patrick, got anything left?

Speaker A

Just meet you guys in the the yellow lot.

Speaker A

I've been out of.

Speaker A

I've been away for a while, so I'll be happy to get back and have a nice ice cold local Edmonds O cerveza with a few folks.

Speaker C

Yay.

Speaker B

That sounds like a plan.

Speaker B

Okay, gentlemen, that's all I have.

Speaker C

All righty.

Speaker A

All right, see you guys in.

Speaker B

In the.

Speaker B

In the language of your country, Patrick.

Speaker B

Adios.

Speaker A

We are the holy city?

Speaker A

We are the battle ray?

Speaker B

We are the holy city?

Speaker A

Home of the battle ray?

Speaker B

Do you hear our cannons roar?

Speaker A

Can you feel the thunder?

Speaker B

We the fate of Charleston come to put you?

Speaker A

We are the fleet?

Speaker A

Your ship we will sink?

Speaker B

But we, we are the battle ra.
