Episode 11 - I hear the train a comin', it's rollin' 'round the bend..

Join the Cannon Crue in a discussion of the Charleston Battery's defeat to El Paso Locomotive FC and leaves us singing the prison blues.

[00:00:00] Welcome to Cannon Crue, a weekly podcast discussing the Charleston Battery. Your host, Granite, will be joined by other defenders of the fleet from the Black and Yellow supporters section. And together they will help fortify and conquer. They are the Cannon Crue.

[00:00:36] Welcome to the Cannon Crue Podcast. I am Granite and I am joined by Patrick. How you doing today, Patrick?

[00:00:41] I'm alright. How are you, Granite?

[00:00:43] I'm doing well. It's a waiting till Memorial Day to do this. Do it early in the morning. And we find out that there's not a whole lot of internet problems when it's 8 o'clock on a holiday morning.

[00:00:52] Yeah, I think most people are still sleeping in a little bit.

[00:00:56] That's probably what we should be doing. That's probably what Ryan's doing too. But anyways...

[00:01:01] We're here to discuss Friday night's match. Battery versus El Paso. Top of the league in the Eastern Conference. Charleston Battery towards the bottom in the Western Conference. El Paso, El Paso coming in with a new coach that was just hired a couple days before then.

[00:01:18] And looks like the locomotive enjoyed a bounce back onto the track.

[00:01:24] I was just going to start with saying pretty disappointing.

[00:01:28] You kind of see the deflation in our voices of a team that should have got completely destroyed by the battery.

[00:01:36] And unfortunately for us, ended up losing the game. We'll get any back. So yeah, lineup changes.

[00:01:43] I mean, I think we last time we talked, Ryan and I and you, we all thought maybe we're going to see a major switch up with everyone since that Tuesday night US Open Cup game where we want the distance, 120 minutes, families,

[00:01:59] and a couple injuries, mainly Nick Markanek and a lot of tired likes. But we really saw two. We saw Drac-Chamon, Ferdinand Santos,

[00:02:11] and Goudir is for Markanek. But we expected that due to his injury in the last game. A little surprising though, don't you think? No other changes than those two?

[00:02:22] I thought there was going to be more. We did 94 minutes, another 30, and then some PKs on Tuesday. That was just a couple days before.

[00:02:33] And then we put out essentially the same team except for those two in the back with Drac and Gutierrez. And they looked tired.

[00:02:42] MD looked tired the other night on Tuesday night, and he looked just as tired if not more Friday night.

[00:02:49] Yeah, and I think we'll talk a little bit about maybe the presence of tired legs on the field and how that affected us because there was some pretty big calls.

[00:02:59] And I think it comes down to a combination of a few things, but mainly the guys not being ready. Maybe just too much exhaustion from a few games in a row now.

[00:03:11] And this isn't early on in the season where it was a few games in a row. These are the high level games, like US Open Cup games where you're putting in all the effort and an unbeaten run that you're trying to protect.

[00:03:22] So everything is starting to count. And we know people are coming and playing us and trying to knock that unbeaten streak down and take it away.

[00:03:32] So we're getting everyone's best to fight their records.

[00:03:38] Yeah, and I think one of the biggest things I've been noticing is our lack of ability to score goals.

[00:03:47] We had to bring somebody off the bench that maybe should have started. I don't know.

[00:03:51] Somebody off the bench to come in and score a goal for us to put a presence in the box with an instinct to shoot it rather than to dribble it around inside the box and it worked out well for him.

[00:04:01] So let's just talk quickly about the first half.

[00:04:03] The referee kind of made his presence known. It's very disappointing. I'm not going to say a whole lot about it because it didn't sound like we're just whining.

[00:04:11] But I will tell you this, when the center ref cannot be in uniform with all the other referees, it tells me that he's trying to draw attention to himself and he did a lot.

[00:04:23] When you yellow card, we have to caution both coaches when both coaches are yelling at you. That should be telling you something.

[00:04:29] That definitely tells you something.

[00:04:31] And I believe I had texted you on the second or third yellow card, which was in the first 30 minutes for locomotives.

[00:04:40] And I said, someone's getting a red card in this game.

[00:04:43] It was just that obvious that the ref was coming full charge.

[00:04:47] It was like he didn't put the yellow card in his pocket.

[00:04:50] I think he just held onto it for the entirety of that first half of just saying, I'm going to set this table again.

[00:04:56] I don't care. You're getting a card. There were some bad challenges, but I think he was a little too happy to be showing cards in that instance compared to maybe see a tackler to one's harsh.

[00:05:11] A talking to maybe settle settle down.

[00:05:14] But yeah, I don't know. I don't like when the tone is set that way in a game where cards are just shown very quickly.

[00:05:21] Text messages back and forth through the match.

[00:05:23] And you texted me and said, go from refs that let guys play to Mr. Card happy.

[00:05:29] We are going to see a red in this game. I think at that point there was a couple of yellows on El Paso.

[00:05:34] And so I chimed in and said, I hope so.

[00:05:37] And then the second yellow in the red card.

[00:05:40] Of course, I wasn't hoping that we would get the red card.

[00:05:43] I didn't see that one coming because we're usually pretty disciplined, but it's interesting just during the match.

[00:05:48] You'd see the flow of the game being affected by the referee.

[00:05:51] Maybe there were well earned cautions was on Mr. Allen.

[00:05:55] And we just backed back within a couple minutes of each other.

[00:05:58] He didn't even protest the second one.

[00:06:00] He just turned towards the tunnel and off he walked.

[00:06:04] Yeah. I mean, we're really lucky to get away with the yellow on that first challenge in my eyes.

[00:06:11] He's going in, he takes a touch and it's like 10 yards in front of him.

[00:06:15] He knows the ball is lost and he is not the fastest guy in the field.

[00:06:20] He's not any cause.

[00:06:22] He's not short.

[00:06:23] You can't get to that ball and kind of make it look okay.

[00:06:25] And he ends up just falling on his ass, duds up at the guy, clean tackle through him.

[00:06:33] And I really thought, I think this when we were kind of texting and you said what the f like just happened.

[00:06:40] And like, I think he should have been red card in turn off.

[00:06:43] And then you said it not even like a minute later.

[00:06:46] It's like the guy didn't learn his lesson makes the same.

[00:06:49] Duped clumsy challenge for no reason where he can't get the ball and I think it's a second yellow and head down walks off.

[00:06:57] He knows it.

[00:06:58] And I think it's just poor play.

[00:07:00] Like if anything you should have learned from that challenge that first one you made and just stepped away from the ball.

[00:07:07] Like you have had another guys on the field that can help you out in this instance for the second card.

[00:07:12] You don't need to be making that challenge.

[00:07:14] It's not they're not in the box or not in a goal scoring opportunity.

[00:07:17] The guy is dribbling around in the middle of the field and you just make a stupid clumsy challenge to put the rest of your team down with 10 men for an entire second ass.

[00:07:27] The entire second half.

[00:07:29] Yeah, you know, our defensive been playing really well.

[00:07:32] We haven't been scoring goals, but we really haven't been getting scored on.

[00:07:35] So let them do their job back there.

[00:07:37] You know, later on we kind of get out of shape when they start scoring goals on us, but that's purely because we're attacking at that point and trying to scrap something together.

[00:07:45] But yeah, I think it shows a little bit maybe tiredness usually when those late fouls coming in like that.

[00:07:51] Maybe the you know, go back to legs are tired.

[00:07:54] Yeah, I think that's a good a good shout.

[00:07:58] Like is this accumulation from Tuesday night's game and just all the menace these guys are racking up.

[00:08:05] Like should someone on someone else have been in this position to start the game?

[00:08:09] Maybe maybe we've seen Robert, you guys play why not start him and just have him playing the center mid role and let Maloy and him just kind of dictate it and he calls it in front.

[00:08:22] I mean, I just don't understand why we had so many players on the field who clearly looked tired.

[00:08:29] But they played tired.

[00:08:32] They played way more tired than I thought they would have for professionals.

[00:08:36] I mean, this is why you have a bench.

[00:08:38] You're supposed to make these changes supposed to keep it fresh, keep the guys ready to go at the top level.

[00:08:44] And we that first half we didn't see top level at all.

[00:08:48] No, and it's a shame and we know we have a short bench and we know that we have some top notch players.

[00:08:55] We got to play him.

[00:08:56] We have a couple that were injured and now they're not suffering from injuries.

[00:09:01] It's, you know, maybe the better selection was to put them in, let them play and I'm in.

[00:09:07] I think we saw the impact that Jackson Conway had on coming in because he was in just a couple minutes and he's in the box and scrapping and putting one of the back of the net.

[00:09:23] But let's talk about us not being able to score.

[00:09:26] Yeah, we, I mean, we did have a couple chances, right?

[00:09:29] So 25 minutes in, Maloy had a huge shot from outside the box, which was a really good dola play like Drac took the ball in,

[00:09:41] set up the guys out to him on the wing and then cut it back for Maloy to have this chance, which is what we're used to seeing either him or Dos Santos making this kind of run in the green.

[00:09:51] Covering for Torres or Gutierrez, whoever's in that spot so they can free roam somewhere else.

[00:09:58] And unfortunately, it was just a little slight deflection but went over the bar.

[00:10:03] And then from that we had really, I mean, that was our big chance of the first half and most were shots and chances came early on in the second half.

[00:10:14] So I mean, that was 50th minute to start it up.

[00:10:18] Get a ball over by Torres who playing out of his mind and really think Torres was our shining star of this game again just showing what he can bring in the chances he creates.

[00:10:30] But he had a ball over to Nick on the back post and I think Nick just kind of chopped at it and got a little unlucky or he hit it wide.

[00:10:38] But it's another great example of like these crosses are there.

[00:10:42] El Paso was so open on the back end too, which is unfortunate not to get a goal.

[00:10:47] They weren't like crowding the box, which we're used to seeing.

[00:10:50] They're leaving a guy open on the back.

[00:10:52] They almost played the Charleston battery way.

[00:10:54] Let's leave a guy open on the back post and hopefully he just doesn't score.

[00:10:59] Yeah.

[00:11:00] So we were, I mean, we're down one nil, which kind of sucks.

[00:11:05] But that was about the 70th minute and we're talking about Connelly finally coming on about 10 minutes later.

[00:11:11] And you see it like that.

[00:11:14] I think this is what you and I have talked about with Myers.

[00:11:17] We were even surprised.

[00:11:18] Myers was not the person subbed off at this point.

[00:11:22] Like we see a guy who's out there and as our center striker or our hold up nine, whatever you want to call it, we're just seeing a lack of play from him.

[00:11:33] Like the ball comes into you consistently in a, you can't hold the ball.

[00:11:37] That's fine.

[00:11:38] Then you should be able to turn and get in behind players, but he can't.

[00:11:42] He's getting muscled off at that point or be able to at least touch the ball off to your teammates, which even that's going to ride for him.

[00:11:50] And his first touches were leading to turnovers every time.

[00:11:53] So I'm a little surprised that M.D.

[00:11:56] Myers was able to stay on the field, but at least we had Connelly come on and get us a goal.

[00:12:02] Get us back into this game and give us a little bit of hope.

[00:12:05] And it's something we haven't seen since the first couple of weeks, a set piece goal from a corner.

[00:12:11] We see him get the ball from Malloy just kind of smashing it in a bounce or two.

[00:12:17] And then I mean a striker's instinct put in his foot behind it and just hammering it in.

[00:12:23] Yeah.

[00:12:24] And it wasn't like I tried to look at it was just basically turn and shoot.

[00:12:28] And we've not seen that from Nick and we're not definitely not seeing that from M.D.

[00:12:32] M.D. did this one time where he was did like five or six cutbacks.

[00:12:36] Last match, he did that.

[00:12:39] He got lucky this time.

[00:12:41] It just gives defenders time to get between him and the goal.

[00:12:44] And that's exactly what happened.

[00:12:45] It's been a lot of times that are passing it off to somebody else to maybe recycle it back out.

[00:12:49] It's a block shot and goes the other way.

[00:12:51] Well, what in particular are the curious thing to ask you?

[00:12:58] What should we be expecting from our number nine?

[00:13:01] Because I mean, we've seen maybe not seen.

[00:13:05] We've been lucky enough to have Marcanic on that wing.

[00:13:08] So it takes a lot of that pressure off of the nine roll.

[00:13:12] But should we be seeing a little bit more work?

[00:13:15] Should we be seeing a different type of player up there?

[00:13:17] I just I'm not sure where we go from this point.

[00:13:21] Yeah.

[00:13:22] If you look the style we play possession trying to work it in there,

[00:13:26] trying to do get in through the defenses.

[00:13:29] And a lot of times they're packing the box in there.

[00:13:31] That's not necessarily what happened over the night.

[00:13:33] But our number nine has got to be somebody that's good on the ball.

[00:13:36] Somebody that can lay up sometimes and put it back out to get it recycled.

[00:13:41] Somebody's making runs.

[00:13:43] Somebody's continually making runs and not somebody that is just, you know,

[00:13:48] that's kind of the over-the-top type of runner to get in there.

[00:13:51] We got lucky, I think the first part of the season because they had some bad defenses

[00:13:55] that are leaving huge gaps.

[00:13:57] And now everybody's getting into motion and realizing

[00:14:00] you know their back, forward's got to be disciplined and stick together

[00:14:03] and not let those gaps happen.

[00:14:05] And so I think our number nine needs to be somebody who can

[00:14:09] is not just sitting up there next to the last defender every time.

[00:14:14] You see it on the great teams that they're number nine's,

[00:14:17] false nine's if you want to throw it in there,

[00:14:20] working their way into the box and coming in there at the right time,

[00:14:23] not just camping out.

[00:14:25] Do you think this is a position that Nick can take up for us?

[00:14:29] I mean, I know he's so deadly on the wing,

[00:14:31] but we seem to have a plethora of wingers on our team.

[00:14:35] We do.

[00:14:37] I'm hesitant with Nick because he's a good runner.

[00:14:42] I don't know if he's particularly the best on the ball like I'm thinking.

[00:14:48] But coming late in the box sometimes is very helpful for him

[00:14:52] and MD's not even doing that.

[00:14:54] MD's not even he runs up and stands next to that last defender

[00:14:57] and that's kind of where he camps out.

[00:14:59] And he does come out here once in a while and you'll see him at the edge of the box,

[00:15:02] but he's not doing anything spectacular.

[00:15:03] He's not making runs.

[00:15:04] He's not pulling players.

[00:15:06] You know, people following him so it opens up space for other people to come in with the ball.

[00:15:12] Well, let's talk about what happens next because Conway gave us hope

[00:15:16] in the 87th minute with that goal

[00:15:19] and it didn't look like a change in our battery,

[00:15:22] pitting especially with our attacking play as in we're down to 10-9

[00:15:27] and still shoving everyone forward trying to get a goal.

[00:15:32] And then unfortunately that leads to an open break for El Paso.

[00:15:37] Yeah, you know, it was looked like a, you know,

[00:15:40] three other players screaming down the field.

[00:15:42] We're trying to play catch up.

[00:15:43] Aaron's running.

[00:15:45] Crawford's running back there.

[00:15:46] DeSanto's trying to catch up.

[00:15:48] We kind of went on the offensive footing so much.

[00:15:50] Two out of their three players, they're running down the field,

[00:15:53] put themselves offside.

[00:15:54] They didn't even slow up and stay onside.

[00:15:56] We have three of our defenders versus two of their players

[00:16:00] and they're outside the 18-yard box.

[00:16:03] And it was a good pass from the person that had the ball on the other team

[00:16:07] and it was a great shot.

[00:16:09] Maybe the coup should have gotten it.

[00:16:11] I don't know, but it was a great shot low to the corner kind of curdling in.

[00:16:15] It's just, we were just in mass panic back there.

[00:16:18] And that's what it looked like and then it resulted in us go for them.

[00:16:22] Yeah, I think I have two very different views on it.

[00:16:27] Me personally, I feel like you're down to 10 men.

[00:16:31] Why the hell are we committing so many men forward after we just worked

[00:16:35] our ass off to get back in this game with a goal five minutes prior to tie it up.

[00:16:40] Let's hunker down.

[00:16:42] Let's escape with a point here.

[00:16:44] It's unfortunate, but we'll collect ourselves and move on.

[00:16:48] But I can see the other sideward.

[00:16:50] I mean, it's exciting to see your coach out there saying, let's go for it.

[00:16:54] Let's get the point.

[00:16:55] We're winning this.

[00:16:56] This is our home.

[00:16:58] I don't know.

[00:16:59] I think personally, I would have liked them to leave a defender back

[00:17:04] and not two center mids.

[00:17:06] Maybe maybe lead those Santos back to cover because defenders do have that instinct

[00:17:11] a little more to push a guy to one side or the other,

[00:17:14] or at least hold a little bit of a line or communicate.

[00:17:19] I don't know.

[00:17:20] I just feel really unfortunate for how hard we worked with 10 guys

[00:17:23] to just give up the three points here.

[00:17:27] Yeah.

[00:17:28] And maybe it's maybe it's the artifact of this is like playoff type

[00:17:33] of league versus whoever has the most points of the end of the season wins

[00:17:38] because you don't have to necessarily be top dog at the end of the season.

[00:17:41] Right?

[00:17:42] You just got to make it into playoff.

[00:17:43] It's nice to be the top because it seeds you better.

[00:17:45] But as we saw last year, you could be the bottom seed and still come out on top.

[00:17:50] So maybe that has something with it.

[00:17:52] Yeah.

[00:17:53] I didn't think of it that way.

[00:17:54] I mean, I'm so used to watching other leagues and top dog wins

[00:18:00] and everyone else just qualifies for a spot or something else.

[00:18:03] So, yeah.

[00:18:05] I mean, maybe it's a good reminder to not get too down on the guys

[00:18:08] because one loss is not going to kill us and more than anything.

[00:18:13] This is a great learning learning curve of what our team can do with 10 men

[00:18:17] and how they rally behind each other to fight back and get a goal.

[00:18:21] Yeah.

[00:18:24] Let's turn let's let's turn our conversation around a little bit.

[00:18:27] Let's talk about the good things that happen.

[00:18:29] And once again, Torres killing it.

[00:18:34] What's your thoughts on his play this this match?

[00:18:40] Torres is my player in the batch in this game.

[00:18:43] I know you were at the match and unfortunately I was not able to make it

[00:18:49] but I was able to watch it alive.

[00:18:51] And I was blowing your phone up constantly saying Torres Torres Torres

[00:18:56] like guys a workhorse he's putting in ball after ball the dangerous spots

[00:19:00] him and Gutierrez were switching sides of the field that they were on

[00:19:04] like every 15-20 minutes which I thought was interesting.

[00:19:08] But another insanely strong showing from Torres

[00:19:12] and I know Nick was off to a hot start.

[00:19:15] He's still on a hot start.

[00:19:17] But I think Torres may be my player this season for this team

[00:19:21] just with what he brings.

[00:19:23] Yeah, I like the switching up between Torres and Gutierrez

[00:19:27] switching sides of the field every 15-20 minutes

[00:19:30] because it gives a different look.

[00:19:31] We've seen teams that we were screaming,

[00:19:34] hey just switch it up get somebody else on the other side

[00:19:37] and give those defenders a different look

[00:19:40] and see how they deal with that.

[00:19:41] And I don't know if it was successful or not.

[00:19:43] Well apparently it wasn't but I enjoyed watching that

[00:19:47] and watching Torres going in there.

[00:19:49] He's got some great crosses in unfortunately there wasn't

[00:19:52] a lot of people at the end of those crosses.

[00:19:55] But I think him and Gutierrez did pretty well for this match.

[00:20:00] Yeah, and I'd like to give another shout out to Drac

[00:20:03] who I think we all just forgot how good he is

[00:20:07] because we're blinded with a lot of Dos Santos strong play

[00:20:10] and Drac is incredible.

[00:20:14] His like instinct, his ability going forward is amazing

[00:20:19] but his ability on the back end is just so strong.

[00:20:22] Winning the ball, keeping possession, winning fouls for the team.

[00:20:26] I mean this is what we should be having out of our outside back

[00:20:30] every single game.

[00:20:31] We should look a little more at their defensive productivity

[00:20:35] instead of their offensive productivity

[00:20:37] because it really is going to help us in the long run.

[00:20:41] Yeah I agree with you.

[00:20:42] Drac commander did a fantastic job.

[00:20:44] Those were kind of like the shining lights on here

[00:20:46] and look at we're getting shot 25-shot attempts to their 10.

[00:20:52] We're just not finishing very well.

[00:20:55] Actually when you look at despite the red card,

[00:20:58] discipline wise we're very disciplined.

[00:21:01] They had six yellow cards and two are, I think it was three.

[00:21:05] So two equals one red but Torres got one for time wasting

[00:21:10] which is absolutely ridiculous.

[00:21:11] I think the little he hadn't given out a card for a while

[00:21:14] so he felt like he should give out a card

[00:21:16] and I suspect and I'm pretty sure that these referees they watch.

[00:21:21] Previous matches and when he saw Torres kick the ball

[00:21:26] like he was time wasting just kick it back in the general area

[00:21:29] where it's supposed to be.

[00:21:30] He knew he's going to give me yellow card right soon as he touched the ball.

[00:21:35] Yeah I think you're right on that.

[00:21:38] There is nothing to that.

[00:21:39] He didn't deserve a yellow so.

[00:21:42] We've seen Torres do descent by kicking the ball

[00:21:45] and doing a little time wasting.

[00:21:47] That wasn't one of Torres' time wasting maneuver

[00:21:50] that was just back there.

[00:21:52] And nobody was screaming about either.

[00:21:54] I mean that's not saying that's the end will be all

[00:21:56] but none of the opposition players weren't you know arms up near like hey what's up?

[00:22:00] They were just kind of ready to start that free kick back there.

[00:22:05] Yeah I think another good thing we can look at is

[00:22:10] the difference of not having Nick Markinac in the starting lineup

[00:22:14] and what it did.

[00:22:15] You didn't really have a lot of chances in that first half.

[00:22:18] I know we ended up having a plethora of shots.

[00:22:21] None really on goal in the second half but without him

[00:22:26] he creates so much space to allow other players to move around

[00:22:31] and I think without him really the spotlight was on Andy Myers

[00:22:35] and that's why he took so much harsh treatment from us

[00:22:39] because you're the guy, you're the guy we're all looking towards

[00:22:42] in the game to do something now

[00:22:44] and I just hope that his injury was more so cramped

[00:22:48] than anything else and that he'll be back for the next game

[00:22:52] and starting it for us.

[00:22:54] When Nick came in, when he first came in, Torres did a fantastic cross

[00:22:58] Nick found himself on the back post unmarked

[00:23:02] and he didn't handle the touch very well.

[00:23:06] Those type of chances that we've got to get.

[00:23:08] Smith had a free header in the same back post area

[00:23:11] and I can't remember who crossed it over to him

[00:23:13] but we've got to put those things away.

[00:23:16] I think at the end of the day we've got score goals.

[00:23:22] Yeah, you're spot on with that one.

[00:23:25] You could see the difference because that was a half-time

[00:23:28] Marquena came on for Gutierrez and just immediately

[00:23:31] you see what he brings compared to a Gutierrez

[00:23:34] who's not looking to get in and be next to a defender.

[00:23:39] He's looking to stay out wide and create space and then come in

[00:23:43] and then Nick is just like, hey, wherever you need me to be

[00:23:46] I'm running there and I'm going to attack this ball.

[00:23:48] So it's a pretty big difference in wingers and that perspective.

[00:23:54] But I'd love for you to give a little shout out here

[00:23:57] because I know he's your boy Crawford came on

[00:23:59] in the 77th minute.

[00:24:02] I believe a milestone.

[00:24:04] Robbie, fantastic coming on again.

[00:24:06] It's 100th match, I do believe.

[00:24:08] He's a stalwart of the battery.

[00:24:11] Been playing with the battery for a little bit.

[00:24:13] I think somebody told me he's the Scottish legend

[00:24:18] and he's helping out with the community.

[00:24:21] He was out coaching some young players out there.

[00:24:24] Some of them were YMCA before the season.

[00:24:26] Took a second to come over and talk to Ryan and I

[00:24:29] and just he's a fantastic player and a fantastic person

[00:24:32] and look forward to him continue to play for the battery

[00:24:36] for maybe another hundred.

[00:24:38] Maybe not that many.

[00:24:40] He might get tired, but getting there.

[00:24:43] Hey, you love to see it.

[00:24:45] It's an awesome milestone for him

[00:24:47] and also milestone for the fans because

[00:24:50] you're getting your players retaining them

[00:24:53] and you get to see these guys

[00:24:55] and he puts his effort in every single time he comes on that field.

[00:24:59] First loss of the season in the championship for us.

[00:25:03] The one loss doesn't make us a bad team.

[00:25:07] So let's turn around and look the other direction.

[00:25:10] So what we got coming up?

[00:25:11] Yeah, our next game is Wednesday.

[00:25:15] We've got a big trip out to California

[00:25:18] and we are playing Monterey Bay FC

[00:25:22] who are not the best team.

[00:25:24] They're a newer team to the USL championship.

[00:25:28] I think it's their second year.

[00:25:30] But it's a 10 p.m. kickoff for us.

[00:25:32] So it's going to be a little late on a Wednesday night,

[00:25:35] but we should be able to all catch that game

[00:25:37] and read the battery on because as you said,

[00:25:40] one loss isn't going to do it,

[00:25:42] but two losses in a row

[00:25:44] and start to raise your eyebrow a little bit

[00:25:46] and ask a couple questions to the coach of,

[00:25:48] hey, what are we doing here?

[00:25:50] So let's go to battery,

[00:25:52] go to California, get some sunshine,

[00:25:54] get some goals, get some three points

[00:25:56] and get the hell out of there.

[00:25:58] Bring them on back to Charleston.

[00:26:00] Hey, shout out to Edmunds O'Barrie Company

[00:26:03] for providing some libations to the regiment area.

[00:26:06] Regiment always doing a fantastic job.

[00:26:09] I think we had about 3,000 or so supporters in the stands

[00:26:13] given the stormy weather that was heading that way.

[00:26:17] I understand why people were a little bit hesitant.

[00:26:19] It turned out but for the 15, 20 minutes

[00:26:24] of really crazy rainy weather,

[00:26:26] it cleared up and it was a beautiful evening.

[00:26:28] Thanks for everyone coming out.

[00:26:30] Edmunds O'Barrie, thank you for supporting the fans

[00:26:32] and the regiment and all of us.

[00:26:34] Yeah, I think we should definitely,

[00:26:36] I totally forgot about that.

[00:26:38] This loss is blamed on the weather delay.

[00:26:40] Mother Nature's fault, not cool.

[00:26:42] That's exactly what it was.

[00:26:44] Mother Nature, you ain't playing Ryan.

[00:26:47] Ryan, did you want to add anything?

[00:26:49] I would like to add a couple things,

[00:26:51] but I was asleep.

[00:26:53] Thanks Ryan.

[00:26:55] No worries pal.

[00:26:57] Love you, bye.

[00:26:59] Alright.
