[00:01:26] to talk about our recent loss, the Tampa Bay Bucking Ears. The Tampa Bay Rowdies. They're quite like pyros when they told us three points. I'm telling you what we gave it to
[00:01:43] them but it's just I called it. I said two nil, the dreaded two nil. You called it, we're going to take a loss and boy did we take a loss. We not only just lost three
[00:01:54] points but we lost Aaron, Lloyd apparently it seems like and we lost Keeper. Yeah I mean Adam Grinney with a straight red card and Maloy picking up you know what's possibly a lower leg injury you know. With Maloy you know we're kind of hoping that
[00:02:15] it's a you know bounce back kind of weak for him and we can get him back in the rotation maybe you know 60 minutes of play here against Andy set the tone. You know for
[00:02:27] Grinney that's just a huge blow and to you know make things kind of a little worse for the battery Daniel Kuzma is now injured as well so kind of leaves this really short
[00:02:43] on Keeper so we just have Inzo right now our USL Academy Keeper until yeah it looks like we got a couple new sightings today and one of them is a Keeper. I mean literally a Keeper. Yep from Greenville Triumph USL League 1 team.
[00:03:03] It's a good signing. Young Inzo gets thrown in there you know direct free kick does his best to get up there. You this is your Bayley Wick is keeping which thoughts on him on how he performed that first free kick I mean he's coming
[00:03:19] off cold it wasn't like he had any warm up it wasn't like you know it was prepared probably to go in because this is this is a rarity and he gets thrown in there and he has to perform. Oh yeah he's got an assistant coach on the
[00:03:33] side warming them up we're probably a field player so you know it's not the best scenario as a Keeper you want either your Keeper coach or you want your other fellow Keeper warming you up and he just goes in there and it you know cold
[00:03:49] feet and that ball was put in quite possibly be most difficult spot for him to get to and it really put a test to him and I mean granted is the way he came off the cold-footed well with colds came off the bench with cold feet and
[00:04:08] was able to fly across the goal the way he did if he was able to save it it would have been magical but yeah the announcers yeah I wasn't big fans of the announcers I don't know if they were actually watching the same game but
[00:04:20] they said I don't think Griny could have got that and I agree that as to like direct free kicks against us that in the last couple matches that have just been phenomenal free kicks and put in the right place unfortunately it was against
[00:04:33] us not for us and then later on we'll talk later on about Enzo and then kind of being left out to dry a little bit I'll call that one too but start off the
[00:04:43] match Torres was just on fire he laid a kick that was just fantastic I don't think it ever started dropping I think it was kind of rising just slowly up until it hit the back of the net it was absolutely stunning to watch another ESPN
[00:05:03] top 10 clip goal of the month for the battery right away given that award to rightfully deserved well done Torres I mean it's absolute world-class finish yet again from him it's two ESPN highlight goals he has this season so far
[00:05:20] yeah that was a fantastic it was just amazing he's taken how many shots have we all went huh just keep taking shots keep taking shots and they've been all over the place but as soon as he just connects well that thing is just like a
[00:05:35] laser I mean I don't know how else to come out of a cannon and it was gone I don't want to you know I'm not getting bigheaded or anything like that no means whatsoever it's just watching the replay of Torres's two incredible
[00:05:51] goals and the power in which he has his other goals on the season the power of the directness of the shot if you go back and look at for example Wayne Rooney David Beckham stuff like that it's similar with like the laser beam Roberto
[00:06:09] Corleos it's just that you can't recreate that you can't replicate it it just a very well struck ball and then later on it's because that you know big Torres fan too later on his cross into Smith was just spot on he put
[00:06:25] that thing in there and Smith just off his big meaty forehead in the back of the goal that was just that was beautiful was it tap to use his head as a backboard exactly he just had to he's had to have it right there so it bounced
[00:06:38] off and went yeah so then that was all the fun times we were rocking the rolling and then all sudden we have some bad times and some real bad times the referee I
[00:06:52] think he was trying I think he was kind of young and I hate to go back referees and he was the game was kind of getting out of hand I don't know if he was the right one to put in that rivalry between the battery in the Rowdy's
[00:07:10] maybe he's the only one available he was trying to control the match but he was letting a lot of play slides or something a couple more cautions out there that he should have issued out you know of course from my view against Tampa Bay but
[00:07:24] he was really struggling and I think that hurt us I don't think it would change the outcome a whole lot but it could have put them down to 10 men if he was doing the job correct I agree with that and I'll point out to you know
[00:07:42] talking about the cautions and everything you talked about it on the last last podcast about who was gonna get possible yellow cards and cautions due to you know the tallies racking up of if a player earns five yellow cards
[00:07:58] throughout the season they will be suspended for one game was my understanding but apparently there maybe at midseason they lose a yellow card or something like that primarily you know right around Christmas that five in the
[00:08:14] first half and then five in second half because Amelia was out there playing and I kind of wish he wasn't because he's out of control right now him coming in and giving up that penalty was just absolutely insane you don't come
[00:08:30] through the player at the back you know especially in the penalty area there was a pk that didn't need to happen there was two defenders sitting in front of them between that player coming with the ball in the goal and that's where we give
[00:08:45] up the first goal yeah we only had we had two yellow cards issued out the first one was 29th minute now so I'm gonna but I give you credit for us when you got right Torres gets a yellow yeah yeah and I can't remember what
[00:08:59] Torres got the yellow for but I'm sure it was well earned and he was trying to do his best not only would just a goal and assist but also you know then the referee know what he was thinking yeah and then the second one comes in the
[00:09:13] night in the 97th minute with Graham Smith and the rowdies player get into it yeah and there's a third one that was issued out to the bench which yeah well so it was the coaching staff right yeah yeah Aaron goes down it looked like
[00:09:31] he hyper extended his knee just when they kept playing the replays of it and obviously he was a lot of pain laying down there and both sides were troubled by it obviously hopefully Aaron comes back quickly but we'll see on the
[00:09:48] broadcast you know which was kind of funny is I don't say funny so Aaron's laying on the ground obviously in great pain and they advertise for a personal injury lawyers I thought that was really really poor taste too horrible
[00:10:06] announcers and somebody that really has poor taste that young man that you know has it has a very serious injury and they want to talk about a personal injury lawyers maybe we should play when they come to visit in September maybe
[00:10:20] we should play Darth Vader music if one of their players gets sent off oh maybe so no I got some personal injury friends that probably like to advertise well hold it up if that's if that's how we're gonna play I don't want to play
[00:10:32] at dirty I mean that's our derby right there that's that's like that's our best rivalry right there and really is and we had a pretty good first half no matter what the stats were but we still come back and they start rolling
[00:10:47] on us yeah I mean it that was just probably one of the best half-time talks they could have gotten this season and they they they went to work Tampa got the ground going they are a second half team and that is one of the things
[00:11:05] I think we haven't really faced that much this year I think this year in USL especially is kind of rare because if you look back at last year and how the battery played we were just becoming one of those teams where we could finally
[00:11:20] last 90 minutes you know in the 90th minute we were getting the game winner or you know stuff like that now we're finally starting to a little bit take advantage of the games they control of it and wasn't the case in this one we
[00:11:34] took control we took control early and this team second half team just barreled right through us and we couldn't stop them very high press put a lot of pressure on us they end up breaking through a couple defenders and
[00:11:47] granny just does something unthinkable I don't know what he's thinking so you've been in this situation what was he thinking I'm not too sure what he was thinking there maybe just got caught out and thought you know this is this is
[00:12:04] I think this is the best decision as a keeper we are very I feel like we are we are very isolated in our decision-making you know some keepers in this area are getting fortunate enough to actually have a keeper coach train them and kind
[00:12:20] of understand those mental strategic moves of understanding of where your positioning is and what mental thought you should look at going forward and seeing where those pieces all fall because when you're back there and goal you can see the entire field you should be able to know where
[00:12:38] everything's going to be before the ball is even played you can sit there and visualize everything and just watch how a game's played and everything will come together that one he got called out and you know end of the day he made his
[00:12:52] call he knows it's not the right call and I bet you he won't make that decision again he'll know what to do for next time yeah he won't make making it for the next couple matches right
[00:13:02] yeah so it's so straight red is it just one game suspension or is it is it more that I don't know because I've been looking for the rules for the USL championship and can't seem to find it talked to people they don't know where they are I don't
[00:13:19] know who has them pass them around after thinking that they had five yellow cards and they had a suspension then turns out no they don't necessarily I'd hate to speculate but it's at least one right it's at least one it's at least
[00:13:35] one yeah there's an argument to be made that there was still a defender because Leland was coming down the middle there that he used to have to go around but Grinney just made it made it of the referee make a decision and it wasn't
[00:13:49] ever going to be in his favor I don't know how he decides anything else so I mean at least let him get in the penalty box and then go for it because then it might not be a
[00:14:01] red because you're going after the ball might not be a dog so but that's what ended up be when he comes out of the penalty box that's what puts him in that bad position
[00:14:11] so then in comes young inzo man we talked about a little bit earlier we did it's just unfortunate you know I'm wishing him nothing but the best and you know this is another mental note
[00:14:29] for keepers out there you know this is an opportunity that inzo was given and it wasn't the greatest opportunity by any means you know he has this great opportunity to play and train
[00:14:41] with trawlsson battery as a usl academy player when it came to game time this is type this is the types of situations that you're going to get into right you're going to get into the
[00:14:52] worst possible situations when you get thrown into a game but here's the key to everything is is going to be your reaction your mentality and your focus going forward are you going to
[00:15:05] put your head down and cry away and just quit soccer because of one bad game even though we've given inzo his praise because he tried his butt off to get to that ball I mean he almost had
[00:15:18] it he flew across that goal no inzo's gonna go gotta get his mental focus get to work and now that trawlsson has signed this new keeper he should feel a little bitter about it because
[00:15:33] he's like you know what I'm I'm supposed to be the next guy up on this list I want to show them why and I'm kind of excited looking at inzo hopefully tomorrow night yeah we'll see we'll see
[00:15:43] who gets it gets to get starting in between the sticks inzo there's another goal in there later on I think it was you know the extra time that was added I think it's because of Aaron was
[00:15:54] I mean both halves there was a lot of extra time then really poor defending and put young inzo in a bad position again where it just went between his legs yeah and that one
[00:16:05] you know you're gonna have that happen when you're having six guys up front in the box you know attacking going for the going for the tie or the win at the very end you're gonna give it
[00:16:15] up so let's stop talking about the bad things let's talk about some future fun things match Friday night against andy I'm excited it's gonna be a great one as every battery fan big fan knows this is a homecoming game for one special individual former
[00:16:45] battery player augie williams would be returning to patriot's point augie augie augie love it so glad he's coming back wish he was in blackie delix I think he could really help us right now but anyways it's gonna be kickoffs at 730 uh I am not in town
[00:17:04] I'm still in Philly got to spend a little time watching Arsenal play one of their little summer matches here in the United States got to see some young players a lot of players weren't there
[00:17:15] because they were they were all held up because they were playing euros but got to see a young keeper hind for arsenal he's kind of the inzo you know they got him for a relatively low amount and he's
[00:17:28] got to get to take some shots at him so it was a lot of fun so still up here in philly tomorrow I'm going to the penitentiary voluntarily the museum not the actual one so hopefully
[00:17:40] little al capone can rub off so uh one other thing you wanted to mention here I know right we just did a good we just did a ghost tour it was a lot of fun oh one of yeah we always do that
[00:17:51] we always whenever we travel somewhere we like to just get a ghost tour an evening one so someone we're good some not so good this one was all right so I like them go segue tours
[00:18:04] yeah so yeah so apparently I was standing on like Washington square where there's like 5,000 people buried there or something like there's a potter's field at some point before there was a Washington
[00:18:15] or something like that or maybe no but anyways uh enough about that you wanted to talk quickly but yeah so you know I will be there at the game granted and for this game is actually kind of
[00:18:32] it's a little special so I will be there with my fellow campers for my goalkeeper camp west ashae high school goalkeeper camp that took place July 15th through the 19th um each of
[00:18:45] my campers who has given a ticket to this game um you could see us early before the game starts we'll be around the field helping with warm helping the players with warm-ups um and we'll be around
[00:18:57] the field um trying to inspire these young keepers and seeing what it takes to go to the next levels you never know you never know maybe it's a bad game for keepers and uh one of those campers
[00:19:11] might find them something I'm just kidding they won't find themselves in that position but who knows what they have to they'll be ready because you trained them exactly I love this group especially
[00:19:22] you know it's my first time doing it but the fact too that you know I opened it from the ages of 10 to 16 and I didn't even think about it and I got a lot of inquiries about you know female keepers
[00:19:34] wanting in on it and wanting to train with the male keep uh you know boy keepers and all that stuff and I thought it was excellent I got a quite a good turnaround you know 50-50 almost ratio
[00:19:45] um I'm just really proud of you know the soccer community in this area that's starting to grow and thrive at West Ashley and that's fantastic USA the stalwart of US soccer and men just can't
[00:19:57] keep up and so it's great that you had a lot of interest a lot of people out there learning and learn how to be keepers because I don't think I don't know if there's a whole lot of
[00:20:06] keeper camps going on in the Charleston area let alone West Ashley so good job thank you thank you one last thing you wanted to talk about was yeah I did want to give a quick shout out to
[00:20:20] indy 11 I know we're playing them tomorrow but I wanted to give them the quick shout out because they knocked out Atlanta united and the US open quarter finals so next yes they beat them two
[00:20:35] to one in full in full time uh so now indy 11 will be playing against uh Kansas City our sporting kc uh in august this month later this month so we Friday night we will not be rooting for Augie and his team but come then play in sporting kc
[00:21:02] guess we'll all support them because they're the last usl championship last usl championship indy 11 is the last usl championship team standing on the third try hey fantastic y'all have a good time tomorrow night be up here hopefully they'll let me out of prison we get some more filly
