[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_04]: We're here to discuss the match went on last Saturday.

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I was all hemmed up in a place all sequestered trying to address some

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_04]: storming issues with a lot of my other friends and compadres and workmates

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_04]: in Dorchester County.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_04]: They did a fantastic job.

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_04]: We had stuff all the way from you name it, snakes, armadillos,

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_04]: coffins popping up, a lot of flooding.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_04]: It was really interesting to watch it all unfold.

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Everyone took it nice and calm.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Good job.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_04]: All you Dorchesterites out there that live through it and still living

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_04]: through it right now, but good job.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_04]: What a match.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_04]: It's pretty decent match.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_03]: The end result was pretty decent.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It's pretty, pretty tough to watch for a staff.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of standing around, a lot of walking, a lot of letting Memphis attack.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of watching, watching attack.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Hey, there's nothing like having playing against a 10 man team

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and then half our midfields watching them score a goal when they're

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_04]: less than 10 feet away because they're standing there watching.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Naturally, you would just back off of the guy in the box, let him get a

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_03]: clear turn and shot off.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we did what we did one better.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_04]: We left two guys in the box by themselves that pass come in.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_04]: There was choice for two of them could have taken it, but Hey,

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_04]: we won't dwell on our mistakes.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_04]: And what was Grimmie doing?

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Did it, was it deflected off somebody or is he just leaning

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_04]: to the right and not covering the near post?

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it was deflected, but I mean, there was like six guys

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_03]: in front of them that weren't stepping up to defend the ball.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_03]: They just wanted to be there firsthand and see what happens, I guess.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe they were protesting that it should have been a handball call on.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was Smith that had this big old gargantuan arm in the way.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a handball every day of the week.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_04]: It made his body unnaturally bigger.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_04]: It was, he was just standing there.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't like he was doing a pirouette trying to stop a ball.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_04]: And so I don't know if it was in the natural position.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a PK all day long.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_04]: So either way, I think a goal comes out of it, but really set us up for

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_04]: looking kind of silly.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_04]: We've struggled against 10 man teams a couple of times this season.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_04]: You should be capitalizing on it.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_04]: But anyways, so that's all I'm going to talk about our goal we gave up

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_04]: because we were just running around like chickens with our heads

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_04]: cut off there in the box.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, I mean, very fortunate for the battery, I'd say getting

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_03]: the opposition to have a red card.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_03]: So what was it?

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_03]: His name truck talk to whatever.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I know you'll help me out with this one, but his, his first

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_03]: incident of receiving the yellow was fair.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, we're turning, turning on kind of the fast break opportunity and

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_03]: you know, Nick mechanics gonna run away from him.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: So he just does the old defender grab and hold them and get a yellow

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_03]: and perfectly fine with that.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Professional.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And then, I mean, it couldn't have been much later, another 10, 15

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_03]: minutes and then Markanik hits the ball for about six inches away.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_03]: And it smashes his hand way outside the box and the rough just goes,

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah, I've seen enough.

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that was a terrible foul play.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_04]: It was, it was a deliberate handball.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_04]: He, I don't think that was rough.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_04]: If, if that was called against us, especially on a word of a caution,

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_04]: it wasn't handball.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it was a cautionable offense.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_04]: And if that had been awarded against, against us, I would have been irate.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: In my eyes, I don't even think that one's a handball

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_03]: for proximity to the ball.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Like you're he's too close.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's basically holding hands with Nick and he blasts the ball

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_03]: through his hand and you get a carded for, I mean, it's one thing if you're

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_03]: in the box, it's another 30 yards outside the box on the wing and the

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_03]: ref is just, I don't know.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the guy must've been one of these refs that they fly in from

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Italy because he did not know what he was doing in the USL.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I would have called the handball and submit that handball.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And then he calls this other one that, like you said, I think

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_04]: there's a very good argument that the, due to the proximity of the ball

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_04]: to the hand, he did make it a little bigger, but he was spinning around.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was more of an unnatural position than what Smith was doing.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Then all of a sudden it changes the face of the game.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we had like one opportunity realistically before all this went down

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: and that was off the corner with Graham Smith, just back post,

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_03]: mashed the ball like 12 minutes in.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It should have been a goal, but miraculous saves.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_03]: By the Memphis keeper to keep that one out.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, I know Smith was probably gunning to get a goal in this game, just

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_03]: former team past two seasons and he looked, I mean, he was our

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: best attacker for the first half.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_03]: The only one with a clear chance.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Smith, he's gotten what?

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_04]: One goal this season already.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And kind of the scary thing I was looking at before we started

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_04]: talking here at some stats, just some season stats.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_04]: And if you look at distribution, and if you look at the number of passes,

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_04]: our number one passer on the East is Aaron Malloy.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Of course he's gone.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_04]: We're not going to see him.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Guess who's number two Smith, right?

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Cause they're playing on the backlog.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_04]: But guess what?

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_04]: You have to start going way down.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_04]: And then the next two number one passers for our stuff, the next two

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_04]: number one passers for the battery, two more backs segburs and Archer.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So maybe Smith to come in.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not a coincidence either.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_03]: These aren't like every ball being a five yard ball from Smith.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: We've had games where he's dribbled the ball about 30 yards and played

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: a through ball to one of our attackers, whether it be Myers, usually

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a mechanic, but with Malloy being out, Smith has a realistic chance of becoming

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_03]: the league leader in passes within a game or two.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it's that close.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_03]: It's pretty insane.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he's only about a hundred back.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe all over a hundred.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_04]: So they're showing Malloy at 1,578 and Mr.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Smith at 1,409.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, give them a couple of matches, move the ball around.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Put him in the top.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_03]: So I would say first half, uh, probably one of the worst taps I've seen from a

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_03]: battery perspective up until the goal.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, did you see anyone get off their heels or was everyone just kind of

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_03]: hunkering down and hoping someone else was going to make the tackle or

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_03]: make the play?

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_04]: The only one that saw it look like they were hustling from time to

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_04]: time was Torres.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Everybody else was just letting it happen.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Watching it just almost similar to the way we gave it the goal.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_04]: We, everybody's sitting there watching except for the people flailing around.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: And it, I mean, it's a little alarming in this game just from the fact that

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: we have the highest average possession in the championship with 57% like just

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_03]: over that, and it seemed like we couldn't even trap the ball and possess

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_03]: it for more than 30 seconds before just giving it away and running back

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_03]: to our own goal to defend.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_04]: And the first 11 minutes or so we had a lot of possession, but we

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_04]: never got another half.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there was nothing threatened about.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_04]: We did a lot of passing around the back and that was really it until

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_04]: the corner from Torres you talked about.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And that was a fantastic save by the keeper.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, eventually we did break it through by said Torres who was

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_03]: the only one seriously working out there and what a fantastic ball by him.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Crossfield 40, 50 yards, 60 yards.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_04]: He is quickly becoming the machine, you know, with the Milo does

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_04]: has a big work rate, but Torres is seeing things that other people aren't.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, you see the guy with 20 goals on the bottom of his boots.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_03]: You just, oh yeah, do a smash down and this right down and pokes it in.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_04]: This is another one.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I looked back and said, how did Nick get, he was wide open again.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So Nick does very well when he doesn't have any competition on him,

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_04]: but he did from a right.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_04]: This is the one he chested it and it was full volley off his foot in the back of

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_04]: the net and it was, that was a great goal by Nick.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I was going to wind it back up and just quickly think about our talk about.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So one thing I noticed, so now we've got Rodriguez taking corners

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_04]: and we have Torres taking corners.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_04]: So that first set of corners that we first two, I think we,

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Torres put one in, in swinger.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Went off Smith's head, went off to, uh, I think keep a period out from a right.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And then Rodriguez come in right footed another in swinger the next set of

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_04]: corners, it was, they took the opposite and we did two outswingers.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_04]: I just thought it was kind of interesting that we were switched it up

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_04]: like that.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Now I don't know if that was on purpose or just whoever's closer

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: to the ball takes the corner.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe just sticking to a different routine time to time, maybe switch it

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_03]: up, don't show them the same look.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: And it didn't work the first time, but I thought we should have stuck with it

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_03]: because Smith is so good in the box attacking whether he means he's not

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_03]: getting the shot on goal, he's at least getting his head to the ball

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_03]: and winning it potentially adding it back across goal to someone else

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_03]: to put home, um, but maybe just a little switch attack.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_03]: That's see if, see if something else would work.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So Nick was over by himself and I think it was a defensive failure

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_04]: when you go back and look at that's that part of the play.

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Midfielder for Memphis goes to put the ball back to the keeper

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and it comes up short.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_04]: So the keeper has to come out.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_04]: So then the keeper under pressure has to just kind of try to clear

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_04]: the ball and it goes straight to Rodriguez who heads it to Torres.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_04]: So then Torres is heading toward a goal.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, in that meantime, Miami's Mifs left back is screaming up there on

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_04]: the attack.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, when the ball switches play, guess what he's guess where he is.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_04]: He's three quarters of the pitch and leaves Nick by himself.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's see.

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's still a fantastic ball.

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is what I think Torres has become a known floor of just

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_03]: don't like scoring or shooting inside the box, but anything that

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_03]: is the incredible or spectacular.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll go for that.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And he has that leg strength to make this ball like almost like a

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: bowling shot right to Nick's chest.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_03]: That all he has to do that composure from him, just the chest straight

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_03]: down and then the same running motion hit it with his left foot home.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he just caught the keeper off guard with that because no one

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_03]: expects that to come off first time.

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, how many times have we talked to, especially me talk about it

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_04]: said we touched the ball too much in the box this time it was

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_04]: chest and then a volley and it was in.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, so it was a great course, great cross.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess that is how we should call that across by Torres, uh, to put it

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_04]: right there and to see Nick over by himself and Nick did a good job.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm I'll give kudos to Nick.

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Sometimes he gets some goals that, you know, I'm like, that's not

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_04]: that impressive, but this was a pretty impressive goal.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_03]: His 21st as well.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_03]: So creeping up on that magic number 25.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, he's creeping up on that 25.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_04]: He puts him 21.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Wilson Harris.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And we'll talk about where he's what's going to happen this weekend.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a big match for us is at 14.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_04]: So he's got a lot of goals to make up and another cool thing.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Matt Myers is right behind Wilson with 11.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_04]: So we're doing well in that neighborhood and Nick just, he

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_04]: keeps scoring.

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know why you leave him by himself.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_04]: If he's by himself, I think he scores goals.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_04]: He didn't traffic.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_04]: He has a little hard time, of course, but leave him by himself.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_04]: He's going to score a goal for you.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'd say mentioning, uh, Myers 11th goal.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_03]: He really put in the work on this one, uh, to hammer a helm.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he started the initial play on it, uh, competed for that ball.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Ball got bounced around a little bit.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I think either Rodriguez or mechanic kind of hit it home and it

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_03]: deflected off and then he was there still running, still working,

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_03]: working harder than the defender got to a first and, and put it in.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_03]: So as much as we give them a little bit of a dick for not working

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_03]: super hard when he's one V one, he really pulled it off this one.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And you could see there's a well-deserved goal and it's what

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_03]: you got to be proud of as a fan.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Just seeing your players work so effortlessly up top and never

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_03]: give up on it.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's what broke the deadlock there.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I like, I like Rodriguez.

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_04]: He was going up against the goal on there and just put it back.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_04]: It almost looked like he was just trying to get back to the penalty

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_04]: spot where you should do it.

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_04]: If you're, you know, in that situation and I can't remember who went there.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: It almost looked like a penalty to me.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Took him down, but the ball came out and hard work by MD to be there

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_04]: and just recognize what he needed to do.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_04]: And he did take a couple of touches and I think you need to, in this

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_04]: case, and just, there was no doubt as soon as he left his foot, it was going in.

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So it was that hard work that sometimes we like, you're right.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_04]: We, we give them some shit about, but this time it was nice to see.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's, it's a good time to get this going because we have a pretty

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_03]: tough schedule ahead of us.

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's nice to see Myers firing Rodriguez, getting in there.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Nick obviously hasn't slipped at all.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Torres, even Torres was getting on the

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_03]: score sheet in this game.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Man.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_03]: You're kind of becoming a regular.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Huh?

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_04]: What a goal.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So he, I think he did an interview earlier this week.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_04]: She's talking about, he was sounding like he was getting frustrated.

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_04]: He was hitting the woodwork a lot.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_04]: This time he let that hit.

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_04]: This was all him got the ball, went around two players and just, it was

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_04]: a rocket and I had deflected a little bit, but it's still keeper should

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_04]: have had that one if it was a little slower, but I think it was a

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_04]: knuckle ball when it's coming at the keeper.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean that the way he goes from like a yard or two off the sideline

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: and covers 30 yards of space in the, like a second and a half to get into

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_03]: this position insane, like it's so much space created here.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_04]: And he did it all by himself.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_04]: There's nobody else to help, you know, I admit maybe that's what the trick is.
