[00:00:43] hold up the fort in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Patrick, how are you?

[00:00:47] I'm great. How are you guys?

[00:00:51] Doing well. Ryan, Ryan has went to one of our outposts. Where are you hanging out, Ryan?

[00:00:56] I am currently in can tune at the moment, Granit.

[00:00:59] Nice, he's doing some scouting out there for us. See if we have some talent on can in cancun to help

[00:01:04] join us at some point maybe and I have left the country and I am what arguably could be the

[00:01:10] home of football. I'm speaking to you literally from the streets of Madrid. It's two o'clock in

[00:01:17] the morning and it's a little chilly but nice and the river is still out there walking around

[00:01:22] drinking sangria. So let's jump right in. This is a huge win. This was something that

[00:01:27] we didn't expect. We didn't. Yeah, I did. I predicted two nil wins but I always

[00:01:35] predicted two nil wins. But let's talk about the lineup. We talked a week before about

[00:01:42] beat going in for Leedon and Wall. He was away and that's not what happened.

[00:01:48] Oh, Dos Santos came in as Darning Centerback which is not someone you would expect to come in

[00:01:54] at all. We've seen him mainly rotate with Drack basically just on the outside to give maybe

[00:02:02] Dos Santos a break but criticism aside he played really well for I guess someone who grew up

[00:02:11] playing more centerback than anything and like converted to an outside back and he looked

[00:02:17] the part he was very strong in a lot of challenges and he was very quick off the

[00:02:21] line to get to the ball and I mean for missing our captain Archer I think he filled in perfectly.

[00:02:28] Oh, I agree and I was a little worried that he would you know have the tendency to go

[00:02:32] roaming but you're right just that background of being a centerback. He was nice and disciplined

[00:02:37] matching up with Smith on the other side and I think it started out a little rough but I

[00:02:42] would expect that especially when you're not playing that position all season.

[00:02:47] Ah, I mean I kind of liked it but at the same time too I would like I'd rather have Dos Santos

[00:02:53] still on the outside giving that support to Torres whereas Segbers is giving that support

[00:02:57] to Marcanik and you throw in Samuel Beek and we can actually see how he plays in a full game

[00:03:02] as a batter. But outside of that I you know there's not a whole lot of criticism you can

[00:03:08] do on this back line. First Arters they all played quite sound it did take them with a couple

[00:03:14] to get into it you know and be all together and be inclusive in actually going after the ball

[00:03:22] calling each other. Adam I think did a great job in the back obviously beside the one goal but

[00:03:29] he saw how fired up he got after that ball went in. But a quick shout out though to the man up

[00:03:34] top Jackson Conway getting the nod in the start and providing that he is still a force in this

[00:03:41] league to be reckoned with and put in some nice challenges. Yeah it is kind of ironic our

[00:03:48] stronger side of defense were the ones that gave up the easy goal right away just kind of

[00:03:55] I mean you can't even put it on Allen as much for covering that but I think Nick really from

[00:04:00] the front is where it starts as a defense and I think Nick was kind of lackluster to

[00:04:06] start this game off for us. I mean eventually he got us back in but you saw Sacramento score and it

[00:04:12] was just too easy it was one long ball split four guys and just a guy running in behind

[00:04:19] didn't mess around with the ball took a quick touch and then just blasted it in and

[00:04:24] I mean you would expect that to come from the side where we have a guy who's not our starting

[00:04:29] center back kind of covering that role but it came from our strong side in theory which is

[00:04:35] a little annoying watching from the support section the Seggbers was pushing way far forward

[00:04:43] and really we really got out of a position back there and you could see I want to say Panic in

[00:04:48] Smith's face but he knew at one point he just needed to leave the man he was covering and just

[00:04:52] track back kind of that recovery run to try to help out and it was just it was a fantastic shot

[00:05:00] but I want to back up because there was one person out on that pitch that I think did an

[00:05:05] outstanding job that we haven't seen in a while and that was a center referee

[00:05:10] she went out she went out there and there was no bad call she took charge of the match

[00:05:16] people were trying to give her griefs the center one of the center backs for

[00:05:21] for Sacramento he she went to give a talk to them or give him a card or something like

[00:05:27] that and he just kept walking past her she did not skip a chance to call a foul against him

[00:05:35] to issue him a card anything like that he was obviously on her on her list to make sure that

[00:05:42] he stayed in the line and he was playing by the laws of the game yeah I think that's a great

[00:05:47] shout out because we had in the group chat uh let us boys get going during the matches and

[00:05:53] pre-match and post-match uh we had touched on it quite a bit I threw a little shade being like oh

[00:05:59] good I'm here we go like how's this one gonna go and I think within about like a minute minute and

[00:06:06] a half I sent another text going okay this is nice we're getting a fair ref we're getting

[00:06:12] someone who's seeing the game well and I mean hey for what we've seen over the past couple

[00:06:17] months I would put her as the shoe in for the playoff referee because she did an awesome job

[00:06:25] now I heard a little rumor that she wasn't just she doesn't do USO regularly that she was uh

[00:06:32] she is a FIFA referee and I didn't have a chance to do any background on her because I've been traveling

[00:06:38] but understand she was just not the normal you know regional referee we might get it any

[00:06:43] weekly matches no I the only thing I have to say about her is I hope we get her again

[00:06:49] going to the playoffs or we see her back around battery and

[00:06:52] I think most of these referees now the battery know how to play with certain ones um obviously like

[00:06:59] as the league goes um but I think for us going forward it's still gonna be playing this home

[00:07:05] field advantage I think that's still gonna come down for us yeah I think the home field advantage

[00:07:12] plays a huge part because I guess we can talk about Nick getting the equalizer but from that point

[00:07:18] on it was basically all battery all attack shot after shot and we finally like flip the switch and I'm

[00:07:27] I don't know about you guys but for me it directly correlates to being a home game because we've seen

[00:07:33] us like in a way stadium just kind of fall off and just never flip that switch back on to get

[00:07:39] going and it was like we got that equalizer from Nick and then the whole team was like

[00:07:45] all right we're not losing this game in home we're not drawing we're going to go after this win

[00:07:49] and it really showed it really did the excitement of when that 25th goal went in

[00:07:58] that was just magical in a stadium and you can feel everybody you know down the support

[00:08:03] section everybody was keeping up the beat anyways uh it's good time but when that goal went in it

[00:08:09] went fanatical from that point on and you could see it in the players you could see it like you

[00:08:13] from about half time on they were just in it and they're in it the win it they were not leaving

[00:08:20] that uh stadium without three points yeah and that that ties the all-time record for goal

[00:08:27] scored in a usl season so pretty ridiculous one with just needs one more yeah how many we have

[00:08:36] six more games in hand we left five home games and one away game we have or the

[00:08:41] or no we have two away games sorry yeah we still have to get to pitchberg as well well hopefully

[00:08:47] i don't know but is it is it like uh not playing devil's advocate but we don't want them to score

[00:08:55] against colorado because you kind of want that glory at home to celebrate and maybe

[00:09:00] maybe there's something fun that could happen yeah i think i think the colorado game because of

[00:09:06] who we have like availability wise we may just try to play for the tie and or not for the tie like

[00:09:13] just trying to play a good team out there i think we're going to come away with a tie

[00:09:17] but i think nick circled a certain game on his calendar that he wants to stick it to

[00:09:24] and uh i'm i'm not surprised if it's going to be against tampa bay rowdies that he sets the

[00:09:29] record against because man did that leave a bad taste in our mouth losing to them four to two

[00:09:33] we shouldn't have and he was the most pissed off player walking off that field and i think he held

[00:09:38] that grudge i wouldn't put it past them if you want to do it as his little audio sound of the usl

[00:09:44] championship i'm not in for conspiracy theories normally but i like that one okay i remember

[00:09:53] looking up and chris allen had the ball and he was had it in front of the the defensive

[00:09:59] players of second minute and i went he ain't gonna make it he ain't gonna make he's not gonna make it

[00:10:04] that he kept going with the ball nobody's challenging him really strong and then passed it in for

[00:10:09] nick and nick does an amazing job putting it back in that sometimes i'm hard on nick because i think

[00:10:13] he takes the easy ones and he this one was not an easy one uh this one was a fantastic

[00:10:18] striker's goal and fantastic by uh midfielders to put it in the position so he can get that

[00:10:25] 25th goal now granite i'll just disagree with you on this part of it being a fantastic goal

[00:10:31] i think it was a goal scorer's form getting him this goal and the confidence is just hitting it

[00:10:37] it was super boring to watch that goal that was the most boring nick mark anick goal i've ever seen

[00:10:44] though i want to see the record breaker be some

[00:10:48] normal nick stuff it doesn't matter if he wants to choose to do a right-footed bicycle kick which is his

[00:10:56] quote unquote weak foot or if he wants to do like the uh what was the old was that euro's a

[00:11:03] world cup vampircy of the diving header the little something crazy i think i really think the

[00:11:09] record setter is is going to be something insane well i'm fine with that i'm fine with that

[00:11:15] i like easy goals because you know they're predictable and they're not putting them wide right so

[00:11:20] there's a very good chance he was gonna put the goal wide but he did so i was happy about

[00:11:25] and boring is good it's still a goal it's still getting a goal we could touch on a little bit

[00:11:31] speaking of our center back not being there uh lee lind did finally get the second game he got

[00:11:38] the start he got the full 90 it was a draw nothing spectacular but uh do we think he's

[00:11:47] going to be back for colorado or do we think he's going to get rested since he's coming off 90

[00:11:54] i think he gets i still go with before he or when he got called up i i just i don't see him

[00:11:59] playing this weekend i hope i hope we give it to samuel b to start in the center back

[00:12:05] on the road but i hope for but we'll see i mean it could it could be another game where we just

[00:12:13] switch a lot of stuff up again right i mean prince hasn't gotten a start yet so maybe we see torres

[00:12:20] get a little break before i mean we all have tampa bay circle like that's the game that's the

[00:12:26] big one yeah so i mean why why not rest some guys and i know they'll still travel with the team

[00:12:33] but like if you travel and you're not putting the minutes in your legs it definitely helps coming back

[00:12:39] and having a full week to recover plus not really straying yourself so i don't know hopefully we get

[00:12:49] graham and leland back for tampa bay maybe we maybe we uh set graham stuff for a game let him get a

[00:12:57] little rest too maybe put beak in and keep dos Santos anything else we could also see so-to

[00:13:02] making a start over martin i can listen to him i mean if everyone got tampa circled i mean i wouldn't

[00:13:08] be totally surprised to see martin i cannot start this game or be pulled out and let soto get some

[00:13:15] more minutes i mean that's his side and then have prince on the other side letting torres get

[00:13:20] some break get some minute or yeah get a break and then um we had conway start up top and then

[00:13:26] you put md miers and let him work with those two guys let him work with prince and soto up front

[00:13:32] it's not a bad idea colin's colorado well before we get there let's talk about the second goal

[00:13:40] by milia that's your hard work right that's your that's your work man your blue collar

[00:13:47] everything guy just getting it done when we need it done and we've talked about that week after week

[00:13:53] what he brings and he definitely brought it the energy that just and he took the initiative to

[00:14:01] take that shot and see that ball go through i mean it could have been anyone by this quite i'm glad

[00:14:07] it was him because we do see the effort week after week and like you want to see players get rewarded

[00:14:14] for the effort being put in but like we did had plenty of chances that maybe we should have

[00:14:22] capitalized on but again the guy doesn't stop working i mean what do we go back and forth

[00:14:30] between him and one torres every week of who's going to get that second one i mean these two guys

[00:14:35] are a lot of stuff top and he come off the bench to do it it was one other aspect that i had written

[00:14:42] down my notes i remember this before my dog ate my notes yes they ate my notes dogs evil things that

[00:14:49] they are is sacramento is not a slouch of a team they're tough and they played relatively

[00:14:56] tough i mean they they didn't let easy chances slip by them and they were taken to us we had to work hard

[00:15:04] to get those two goals now they play in a very west coast style three four three aggressive

[00:15:13] and what that means is is that when you're playing an aggressive four three three

[00:15:17] you know that every single player if they're a defensive team like sacramento is like sacramento

[00:15:23] does not give up a lot of goals and that is because when they're all the way up front they keep the ball

[00:15:29] contained up front or when they work back there there's no messing about and they put in the

[00:15:33] hard tackles early because you only have three guys back there rather than most teams have four

[00:15:38] and they'll let you come in they'll sit in on you let you attack sacramento takes it right

[00:15:43] to them they don't mess around they want the ball back you never really see that this game

[00:15:47] whereas sacramento we had 38 present possession they had three shots on goal with a total of 11

[00:15:52] shot attempts but it was definitely back and forth in the midfield with both teams holding four yellow

[00:15:57] guards hey that's a perfect explanation ron it you summed it up very well i will tell you this the

[00:16:08] stands went nuts went nuts and i've been there for some pretty big matches and that one was

[00:16:15] probably one of them that rival all the others it was just fanatical there there were people

[00:16:20] that was standing around us that this might have been their second match they've ever been to

[00:16:24] and they were going crazy because they understood how big this the win wasn't gonna come from behind

[00:16:30] and i had to do a little educating about how important it was for us to win and the winning

[00:16:35] in this fashion is fantastic yeah the place was going to explode when torres hit that shot and

[00:16:42] not your time and almost put it in the back of it that it just went barely wide

[00:16:48] z granite you tec you had me and you were texting about this this is what batteries third game

[00:16:53] this whole season where they came from behind to win yeah sure was it was pretty interesting

[00:16:59] after you know 20 some games we don't do it often but man this is a great time to do it

[00:17:05] let us believe in that way once we do go into the playoffs we know what that feeling is like

[00:17:11] we understand okay if we are down we can still pull it back together like we're not just

[00:17:15] immediately dropping our heads like this that honestly the sacramento game went way better than

[00:17:21] anybody could have ever expected because of how well the battery continued to fight throughout

[00:17:26] the 90 minutes and it wasn't just coming from behind it's coming from behind against a fantastic

[00:17:32] team the second in the west coast and and plays very well and plays very well wherever they go

[00:17:40] I mean we almost saw them in the final last year

[00:17:43] you know if it's uh it was if fenix rising did not beat them in the semifinal we would have

[00:17:48] flown to sacramento to face them in the final last year that yeah that's one of the games

[00:17:53] that kind of set us up for home field advantage off to the playoffs i mean just put it this

[00:18:00] way you're missing your starting center back your starting star midfielder and your starting

[00:18:07] number nine and somehow these guys i get it like md came out at the end but somehow these guys

[00:18:14] found the will and fought for each other and came back to keep themselves in this game and

[00:18:18] eventually get all three which this is exactly what we need with six games left getting ready

[00:18:25] for playoffs everyone believing and buying in going into the playoffs in good form and like

[00:18:34] said knowing that we can come from behind and win that's not something that's unreal or unattainable

[00:18:39] bias is the value that is incredible all right well ryan's gonna make a dinner here shortly so let's

[00:18:49] touch on what do we got predictions for colorado yeah you want to go predictions for colorado

[00:18:56] okay here we go two nil torres brace this guy the bandwagon is so many people are sitting on it

[00:19:08] i'm gonna jump ahead right here and i'm gonna go brace for md

[00:19:14] all right so if you guys haven't known this we've placed colorado twice the first time we faced them

[00:19:21] was at home or no was away we tied them three three then last year we had that crap rainstorm that

[00:19:28] came in delayed the game and then right in the game restarted colorado still scored against us

[00:19:32] and we lost two to one i think we take it to them if we play certain players who i think we're

[00:19:39] gonna play i think soto gets his first goal and i think conway scores and i think we went three

[00:19:46] to one which one's getting the brace neither no one's getting a brace i got soto and conway both

[00:19:54] scoring maybe with a third goal by oh you know no no no go give me another goal and then we and then

[00:20:02] we do get one scored on us because we gotta we gotta clean it up back there because we don't know who's

[00:20:06] starting in the back because i don't in my opinion i don't see archer being back

[00:20:12] i wouldn't want him back either to be honest like i want him to rest because

[00:20:15] him flying from trinidad all the way back to the states and then go into colorado

[00:20:20] it's too much travel for him that this will make sense to put we'd beek in and like

[00:20:24] rest segburs put drac out there where segburs plays like segburs is going to need a damn break

[00:20:30] before we get into this grueling like next month and that's why i see a lot of like that

[00:20:37] that's why i see the battery resting a lot of players because we have tampa next week at home

[00:20:42] like that is our like essentially our homecoming game for this season you know like every team got

[00:20:47] like their senior night or their homecoming game like the tampa may routies next week is our game

[00:20:52] that is our game of the year at home well ryan you know it's more than just a homecoming game

[00:20:58] this is our darby right yeah we're just the other a home leg of it we call those things darby's i think

[00:21:07] okay that's that's what it is yeah this is our darby you know now at that home you've already lost

[00:21:12] the first one which was absolutely agonizing and oh we want this one we want this i know ben's got this

[00:21:19] starred well ryan you are down in mexico did you scout any players for the battery recently

[00:21:26] ah it's i did get hit up there is there actually is one player um he was down here playing for

[00:21:34] the mexico's u15 u16 and u17 national team um they did just get knocked out of their tournament play

[00:21:44] but i think he got called by coach pierman this guy's a constant professional always working

[00:21:52] his trip to mexico was for a reason hey i've been working also so there's i don't you guys probably

[00:22:00] never heard of this little team it's called ryan madrid and they have a couple players on there

[00:22:05] i think could really help us out so i'm gonna be scouting about tomorrow let's see if i can get
