Thank you Nick Markanich and congratulations on earning the Golden Boot with 28 goals in the regular season! Because Nick had an incredible supporting cast, join the the Cannon Crue on their rants and raves over the Charleston Battery and look into the post season!

p.s. Nick was also the top goal scorer across all US domestic leagues, ahead of Benteke, Suarez, and Messi.

UP THE BATTERY! LFG!

[00:00:15] Welcome to Cannon Crue, a weekly podcast discussing the Charleston Battery. Your host Granite will be joined by other defenders of the fleet from the black and yellow supporters section, and together they will help fortify and conquer. They are the Cannon Crue.

[00:00:34] Welcome to the Cannon Crue podcast. I'm Granite and I am joined by Patrick. How are you, Patrick?

[00:00:41] I'm doing fantastic today. How are you?

[00:00:44] I'm doing well. And how about you, Ryan?

[00:00:50] Ryan, hit the unmute. There you go. How about you, Ryan?

[00:00:53] I'm doing great. How are you, Granite?

[00:00:56] Hey, you know, I've been waiting for several months to do that to you. And so it's fantastic. I'm glad you appreciated the humor in it of you stopping and taking a second and just keeping silent.

[00:01:11] So, Patrick, you've had some surgery done.

[00:01:15] You decided you had too many teeth in your mouth.

[00:01:19] And now you had something. Yeah.

[00:01:21] A little too many. So, been not wired shut, but pretty much an inability to talk. So, we have not been recording for a few days.

[00:01:35] Sorry about that.

[00:01:37] Well, we tried.

[00:01:37] We tried. The first day we tried and it sounded like Patrick was a drunk Scottish man and we thought that would be offensive to Robbie Crawford.

[00:01:45] And then last night we tried again and he wasn't Scottish drunk man. What was he? Just kind of low country drunk man. And we just couldn't put up with that. So, tonight's the charm.

[00:01:57] Third time. And Ryan, what have you been up to?

[00:02:03] I did. I've been busy with my travel soccer team. We have our league final match coming up next Saturday. And then also getting the nursery prepared.

[00:02:17] The nursery prepared? Why are we planting flowers this late in the season?

[00:02:23] I want a championship baby. Come on.

[00:02:26] I hear you. I hear you. So, a couple of good things that happened. I think there's a release of a new kit. Right? For the battery?

[00:02:32] Oh, it's beautiful.

[00:02:33] What's your thoughts on that?

[00:02:34] It is absolutely beautiful. I think the battery have, you know, being a new fan, I've known the battery, followed them for about four years before I came down here to Charleston.

[00:02:45] I've known them just through dating my wife prior. But this kit is absolutely stunning and it's the best kit that Charleston's ever created.

[00:02:56] In my opinion.

[00:02:58] Yeah, it's pretty tough, Ryan.

[00:03:01] It's definitely one of my favorite kits.

[00:03:04] It's not only because of the color scheme, but like the gold accents just pop right off.

[00:03:11] It reminds me of that Arsenal third kit from about a year ago and it's one of my favorite kits of all time.

[00:03:18] And I mean, the little, the little details, you know, the rainbow row tribute on the little back and then you have the Ravenel bridge trying to speckle throughout, but not overpowering where it's just a huge logo of the bridge.

[00:03:32] So, nice touches and I can't wait to see it in person on Saturday.

[00:03:36] So, we were kind of teased about it before it happened, right? And right when it happened, we saw pictures and we just lit up on our WhatsApp group and just going crazy.

[00:03:47] And I sit there for a while and just watch to just look at the kit.

[00:03:51] And I thought, man, somebody's done it. It's a hit out of the park, a baseball term.

[00:03:57] Is that a baseball term?

[00:03:59] That is a baseball term.

[00:04:00] Well, unless you're a Yankee, she's a fan.

[00:04:05] But it's not a good term, I think.

[00:04:08] I don't follow the stick ball a whole lot.

[00:04:11] We love to see, I don't follow.

[00:04:13] We just love to see New York teams fall though.

[00:04:15] So, what happened last night?

[00:04:17] Oh, they got swept and it was an insane comeback.

[00:04:20] Yankees were up, I mean, by at least four, three to four runs and blew it in the seventh inning.

[00:04:26] Dodgers came back and won 4-0 in the series.

[00:04:31] Wow, that's pretty impressive.

[00:04:33] Okay, so I lied just a little bit.

[00:04:34] I grew up being a Royals fan and my favorite player was George Brett.

[00:04:38] And that's where my hate for the fucking Yankees developed.

[00:04:42] And it was so satisfying.

[00:04:44] Even though I haven't been following baseball for a while, to watch a spanking like that happen last night.

[00:04:48] I think it was game five, right?

[00:04:51] And I think...

[00:04:53] It won in four.

[00:04:54] That's what the Dodgers swept them.

[00:04:55] The Dodgers won in four.

[00:05:01] Yeah, it's nice.

[00:05:03] It's sweet justice.

[00:05:04] I'm a Guardians fan.

[00:05:05] Grew up in Cleveland.

[00:05:07] I still call them the Cleveland Indians.

[00:05:09] So, you kind of grew up hating the Yankees.

[00:05:12] The movie Major League put a little more emphasis on that as well.

[00:05:16] So, once they beat us, I was glad to see them get swept in the World Series.

[00:05:21] I love it.

[00:05:23] Biggest payroll in baseball.

[00:05:24] Can't win it.

[00:05:25] And I'm a Riverdogs fan, and it's unfortunate we're downstream of that Yankees stadium or

[00:05:33] whatever.

[00:05:34] Yeah, I'm hoping...

[00:05:34] But, how are I?

[00:05:36] How are the Riverdogs games?

[00:05:38] I don't know.

[00:05:39] I don't go to them.

[00:05:40] They're fun.

[00:05:42] Dog nights are fun.

[00:05:43] Beer nights are fun.

[00:05:45] It's a good time.

[00:05:47] Not as good as the battery.

[00:05:48] Not as good as the battery.

[00:05:49] But, a little biased.

[00:05:50] A little biased.

[00:05:51] Okay.

[00:05:53] I'm within sight of the stadium over there, and I'm glad they have fireworks that scare

[00:05:59] the shit out of the dogs in the head all the time.

[00:06:02] So, they do a great job.

[00:06:04] They do.

[00:06:04] No, actually, it's a lot of fun.

[00:06:05] I like going to a game every once in a while and spending the next four hours of my life drinking

[00:06:10] beer.

[00:06:10] Okay.

[00:06:11] Especially on Thirsty Thursday.

[00:06:12] See, that's all we had back in Virginia.

[00:06:14] We had the Fred Nats, which is...

[00:06:16] I think they're in the same division, aren't they?

[00:06:18] Is the River Dogs?

[00:06:21] I think so.

[00:06:22] Very good nationals.

[00:06:25] Crickets.

[00:06:27] Yeah.

[00:06:28] Are they in USL 1?

[00:06:29] It might be in USL 1.

[00:06:32] Well, you know, just to throw something out, it's kind of interesting trying to explain

[00:06:36] to the fans of soccer that don't understand the USL and how, because everybody believes

[00:06:44] that the battery is a farm team of somebody else and trying to explain the different league

[00:06:50] and how it's different than the setup with like baseball with farm teams.

[00:06:56] Hockey's the same way.

[00:06:57] The Stingrays, they're affiliated with the Washington Capitals and that's their farm team.

[00:07:04] Basketball is the same way.

[00:07:05] They have farm teams.

[00:07:06] I mean, every baseball teams, they have farm teams.

[00:07:08] I mean, they got four teams deep.

[00:07:11] Every sport around here has farm teams and they are just kind of shocked to hear that

[00:07:15] soccer does not.

[00:07:17] Whereas in Europe, you do have farm teams.

[00:07:19] You have farm leagues.

[00:07:22] Farm leagues more so.

[00:07:23] Yeah.

[00:07:23] I mean, I think...

[00:07:24] More farm leagues.

[00:07:26] Kudos to US soccer for at least having...

[00:07:30] Something.

[00:07:30] It's so small, but the smallest backbone to just stop the MLS from doing that same thing

[00:07:36] here, because that is pretty much where they were wanting to head, but...

[00:07:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:07:41] Whole nother podcast.

[00:07:43] Well, several of them I do believe, because I think we can go really in depth with that.

[00:07:47] So, enough of the Riverdogs.

[00:07:49] Woof, woof.

[00:07:50] On to the battery.

[00:07:51] Let's quickly talk about our 2-1 win over...

[00:07:56] Ratton.

[00:07:56] Sorry, Ryan.

[00:07:57] Loud encounter.

[00:07:58] Coach Ryan.

[00:07:59] Almost loud.

[00:08:00] What a win.

[00:08:03] I just want to comment on Coach Ryan Martin's attire.

[00:08:07] Atrocious.

[00:08:09] Atrocious.

[00:08:11] I'll tell you what.

[00:08:12] Before we got...

[00:08:13] We were kind of towards the end of the match.

[00:08:15] I was walking over that way and to the sidelines and watched him pacing back and forth.

[00:08:22] And I just like...

[00:08:24] For a moment there, I was like, oh, I feel for him.

[00:08:27] He's probably sitting there going like, what the hell?

[00:08:29] Am I going to have a job come in the morning?

[00:08:31] I don't know.

[00:08:32] But he did have kind of a really cheap coat on.

[00:08:34] He might as well just go with a tracksuit.

[00:08:36] He looked like Weekend at Bernie's.

[00:08:39] He did.

[00:08:40] He did, actually.

[00:08:41] A week too early, because this is Halloween and he showed up too early dressed like that.

[00:08:45] Yeah.

[00:08:47] Now, on the other side of the midline, I looked at Ben and Ben's shirt or zip up looked like something out of Star Trek.

[00:08:55] We need to get a little Trekkie symbol on the side there.

[00:08:58] Take a look at the picture and you're like, oh, okay, I see it now.

[00:09:01] I'm glad he wore that too, because I wore a sweatshirt and I felt a little warm.

[00:09:06] I felt a little weird because everybody else was not in a sweatshirt or something heavy, but he was down there rocking the same thing.

[00:09:11] So, Brad, we, speaking of that sweatshirt, we had this conversation in the stadium of like, man, I just love the black color with the battery.

[00:09:21] And like, why don't they do more of it?

[00:09:22] And then, lo and behold, what we just talked about, they showed up at that New Jersey.

[00:09:27] We did.

[00:09:28] We did.

[00:09:29] Somebody must have been listening.

[00:09:32] I don't know.

[00:09:33] It wasn't the Loudon defender, because he thought he was going to teach Nick a lesson.

[00:09:37] He kept saying it.

[00:09:38] So let's jump right into that.

[00:09:41] Patrick and I were down at the south side is the smaller supporter section.

[00:09:46] We were just a couple of the chosen few.

[00:09:48] The great thing about it, as you know it, it's very intimate and personal.

[00:09:54] And, uh, well, first off, welcome back.

[00:09:56] Hugo come back.

[00:09:57] He used to play keeper for us last year, the year before he was very diplomatic, waved everything else.

[00:10:03] Uh, but there was a point where I don't know what happened.

[00:10:06] The ball went out or something and the defender started saying something.

[00:10:11] I was tending more looking down.

[00:10:13] Why don't we get my next drink of beer?

[00:10:14] But then I heard Patrick start talking trash.

[00:10:19] A little bit.

[00:10:20] I mean, the goalkeeper made a save.

[00:10:23] I'm watching a replay right now.

[00:10:24] Goalkeeper made a save, pushed it wide.

[00:10:27] And he just kicks it out of bounds.

[00:10:29] And he goes, yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna teach him a lesson tonight.

[00:10:32] I'm gonna show him what's up.

[00:10:33] And I'm like, no one's around you.

[00:10:36] Are you talking about Nick?

[00:10:37] There's not a player within like 10, 15 yards of you.

[00:10:40] And you just kicked it away.

[00:10:41] Who are you talking to?

[00:10:43] Who are you talking about?

[00:10:45] And he just turned and he goes, enjoy the game.

[00:10:48] And I was like, I will.

[00:10:50] He looked ferocious.

[00:10:52] He was not going to let that happen again.

[00:10:53] Where was he?

[00:10:54] He was going to teach a lesson.

[00:10:55] Little did he know, it wouldn't be Nick who would give him headaches on that left side.

[00:11:02] Those highlight tapes on that left side was, was something special.

[00:11:07] I mean, it wasn't like a dominant game, but all it takes is Torres hitting some razzle-dazzle shot on the ground that goes in four different directions and then into the back of the net.

[00:11:19] I think what all makes it so nice and like so special about it to like, it adds its specialty to it is that it came from nothing.

[00:11:27] And he dribbled around like three people and just, it was really shit defending, but it was a fantastic shot.

[00:11:33] And I've been watching the replays for like all week.

[00:11:36] Just like, holy shit.

[00:11:39] That's what we talked about last week.

[00:11:41] I think of like that energy and just the like getting into form.

[00:11:47] Loudon switched off for a moment and he just took complete advantage and attack them right away.

[00:11:53] And I mean, it was near post.

[00:11:56] I was like in the perfect line where I was sitting right behind it that it kind of went left, right and back left a little bit.

[00:12:04] But what do you make of that goal, Ryan, for the keeper to get beat like near post?

[00:12:09] Or is it just unsavable?

[00:12:11] I can't think that everything is unsavable from Torres, but maybe, maybe it is.

[00:12:16] See, and here, everything is unsavable from Torres.

[00:12:20] Here's the thing that it's like kind of like old soccer versus new soccer with that term that you just said, Pat, that near post.

[00:12:28] I kind of grew up saying you never want to get beat near post.

[00:12:31] You'd rather always get beat back post because that just has, you know, you just make the attacker work harder for it.

[00:12:38] Now you have these players who can, who can actually bend shots around you, who can be a little bit more cheekier.

[00:12:44] So you have to kind of put your body more out there.

[00:12:47] And when you do that, you expose that front post a little bit more.

[00:12:52] And in that case, though, his positioning, he just kind of slid over.

[00:12:56] He did try to make his body as big as he could to get up for it.

[00:12:59] But I mean, it wasn't expecting it to get front post, honestly.

[00:13:04] And it was low to me.

[00:13:06] I mean, it was it was on the ground.

[00:13:07] I don't think he was expecting a lot.

[00:13:10] Yeah, it's too fast.

[00:13:11] Yeah, it was a drop ball towards like, fuck you all.

[00:13:16] Boom.

[00:13:16] Oh, defender coward.

[00:13:18] Number 12.

[00:13:18] He like spun his body around.

[00:13:20] That towards the laugh.

[00:13:21] He did like a 360, right?

[00:13:23] I'm full looking the wrong one thing.

[00:13:27] Whenever a defender spins that usually catches my eye.

[00:13:30] And as a keeper, it's catches your eye, takes your eye off the ball for that brief second.

[00:13:35] So then if he's not expecting it, if the keeper is not expecting the shot, that kind of throws him off right there.

[00:13:41] Well, just well done by tort.

[00:13:42] Well, I.

[00:13:44] I think it's because the defender wanted to see the ball go in.

[00:13:47] I think he would.

[00:13:47] He's like, oh, that's an excellent shot.

[00:13:49] I'm going to turn around so I can watch it go in.

[00:13:51] He was a decent keeper.

[00:13:53] He was kind of, you know, cheating to the near post.

[00:13:57] I, the ball was just so well placed and so had such a velocity behind it.

[00:14:01] It was just knuckling through there is fantastic.

[00:14:03] I'm sorry.

[00:14:04] I don't want to laugh at number 12 from loudness.

[00:14:06] I don't know who he is because it's not funny from his aspect, but also.

[00:14:11] I will.

[00:14:11] He got taught a lesson that night.

[00:14:13] He didn't.

[00:14:14] He didn't do the teaching.

[00:14:15] He brought his notepad.

[00:14:16] He sure did.

[00:14:18] Oh, but the other.

[00:14:19] It wasn't fun getting scored on.

[00:14:21] I thought we're going to keep a clean sheet in this one.

[00:14:23] No, no, that's fine.

[00:14:25] Oh, Ryan always predicts.

[00:14:27] No, not a clean sheet against a team that's in do or die.

[00:14:32] Playoff mode like that was there.

[00:14:33] That was their game.

[00:14:34] That's why the coach was pacing back and forth because he was looking at the other scores

[00:14:37] because there was games that started before us and he was it was depending off that game

[00:14:41] if they would be one right.

[00:14:43] She was up at the time.

[00:14:44] Can you look back and can you look back and see when the last time loud and scored?

[00:14:50] Before that?

[00:14:51] Yeah.

[00:14:53] Yeah.

[00:14:53] I mean, it was such a lucky goal.

[00:14:55] Like it was a great turn by their forward who like created all that space, but he did

[00:14:59] some chop ass ball and the guy just hit it and somehow it went to the ceiling of the goal.

[00:15:05] I mean, it's not like it was a lax of defense.

[00:15:07] Our guys were covered on this one.

[00:15:09] They got back in position.

[00:15:11] They got in front of it.

[00:15:12] It just like was one of those pop up shots.

[00:15:15] So I don't know.

[00:15:18] The one after that they should have scored on that Gritty saved I thought was way better

[00:15:23] by them and shit defending by us.

[00:15:25] But I don't know.

[00:15:26] Sometimes you get lucky.

[00:15:27] Wait, wait, Patrick and an update by Ryan.

[00:15:31] Yeah.

[00:15:31] I agree.

[00:15:31] I see what you mean.

[00:15:33] Um, I mean, Loudon's last goal actually came September 28th at home.

[00:15:39] Oh, September.

[00:15:41] Yep.

[00:15:42] They actually, uh, their goal against Charleston was their only goal of the month of October

[00:15:47] in sixth.

[00:15:48] Well, son of a bitch.

[00:15:50] And was it their goal of the month as well?

[00:15:52] Had to be.

[00:15:53] That's the only goal.

[00:15:54] That's it.

[00:15:55] Okay.

[00:15:56] Well, okay, great.

[00:15:57] Well, this must have been their October goal of the month then.

[00:16:01] It's true.

[00:16:02] They were also celebrating it.

[00:16:03] It's just, you know what?

[00:16:05] Great.

[00:16:05] That just comes with judgment day.

[00:16:07] You know, that's what USL calls it.

[00:16:09] It's the last day of the season.

[00:16:11] They call it judgment day for a reason.

[00:16:14] Hopefully that one goal saves that coach's job.

[00:16:19] Well, I mean, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe a coach may be good for them because the,

[00:16:23] uh, cause that coach for loud and it's been there since the club started.

[00:16:27] They, uh, he, yeah.

[00:16:29] And if you look, he's a United and they moved them down.

[00:16:33] This level.

[00:16:34] It's kind of hard cause you're, you don't have the money to do everything and all the

[00:16:38] other factors go into it, but his record coach Ryan Martin's record is 44 wins,

[00:16:45] 107 losses in 22 draw or 26 draws.

[00:16:49] It's heavy.

[00:16:52] That's almost as good as the weather, man.

[00:16:54] I mean, I don't know.

[00:16:57] Percentage wise.

[00:16:59] Love you, Ryan.

[00:17:00] I mean, or Ryan.

[00:17:02] Yeah, not so much.

[00:17:04] At least I got a trophy already.

[00:17:07] Nice.

[00:17:07] Yep.

[00:17:08] Playing for another one next weekend.

[00:17:11] Then we're off to Greensboro.

[00:17:13] We're excited.

[00:17:15] Apparently, granted Pat, apparently there's a Barca Academy at base out of Charlotte.

[00:17:22] We're potentially playing them in the semifinals.

[00:17:25] Really?

[00:17:27] That's kind of interesting.

[00:17:28] Well, you see what I'm doing?

[00:17:29] No, I know that.

[00:17:30] Shoot, I'm wearing some.

[00:17:31] I was curious to what you guys think about that.

[00:17:34] Like, do you guys think that that's like an authentic, it has their logo.

[00:17:36] Do you think that's like an authentic thing or do you think that's just for money?

[00:17:41] I think it's absolutely authentic because the Barca in the upper levels of football in Europe are filled with American youth from Charlotte.

[00:17:51] So yes, absolutely.

[00:17:52] I think it's a genius idea.

[00:17:54] He's giving you the old razzmatazz, Ryan.

[00:17:57] Sorry.

[00:18:00] There are two exceptions.

[00:18:02] One is our own Nick Barcanic.

[00:18:05] He's making his way there, right?

[00:18:08] Yeah.

[00:18:09] No, I think it's totally money-making thing.

[00:18:11] I think that's where the gray line is drawn is when clubs with good youth programs do this, that people think their kids may get scouted or whatever.

[00:18:21] But grand scheme of it, all these teams go around and it's just more brand recognition for them.

[00:18:27] It's their name out there getting a little more getting people who may aren't, you know, not interested in a professional team yet and get them hooked to one.

[00:18:36] And maybe they start buying some more jerseys, maybe buy those premium subscriptions to watch a game or two.

[00:18:42] That's what we all go through with trying to watch any games nowadays is maybe just had in our group chat.

[00:18:48] What is this game on?

[00:18:50] It's on Fox Sports.

[00:18:51] No, it's on ESPN Plus tonight.

[00:18:53] It's on this.

[00:18:54] It's like you have to go through nine subscriptions just to watch your team play one season.

[00:18:59] But luckily for us, the battery we're on ESPN Plus, I think, for most of the year where we have CBS Sports.

[00:19:07] Yeah.

[00:19:07] Like one.

[00:19:08] Well, lucky for us, we're in real playoff mode now and we get to watch it live.

[00:19:13] We are.

[00:19:14] Who do we happen to be playing?

[00:19:16] Oh, let me back up.

[00:19:17] I want to back up because I think there's, we need, we're doing this service to our keeper because he had at least two.

[00:19:23] Two fantastic saves.

[00:19:27] One of them is one handed, it almost a point blank range.

[00:19:30] It, he did a fantastic job.

[00:19:32] And even though that one come through and I, I, I kind of differ with you, Patrick, I think it was, our defending was not the best.

[00:19:39] All four of our, our back line were kind of too far over in the, in the goal area.

[00:19:47] And man, I love Robbie, but he probably should have been cheating back over and watching, checking his shoulder, making sure nobody's coming up on that right-hand side.

[00:19:55] And he didn't.

[00:19:56] So I'm not going to blame that necessarily on Grady, but he had some fantastic saves.

[00:20:00] What do you think Ryan?

[00:20:00] Ryan.

[00:20:02] No, I think he got some great saves.

[00:20:04] I think he, uh, I don't know if he, uh, I don't know if the award got placed out yet for a save of the week, but I saw he was nominated definitely put my vote in for him.

[00:20:14] And I think he, uh, he definitely deserves it.

[00:20:16] And that goes to show you for keepers is that, you know, you're not going to have a lot of action, but when you do it's those one or two saves that makes or breaks the entire game.

[00:20:26] Because if one of those goes in, you know, now we're tied or now we're down and playoff mode.

[00:20:30] Now we're down.

[00:20:31] And yeah, that we're going into playoffs.

[00:20:33] Guess what?

[00:20:34] It, it goes to at a time.

[00:20:36] And after that, it goes to pins.

[00:20:37] And that's something you would like to avoid.

[00:20:40] Well, even before that with, with loud, it was, it was not a game that they could settle for a draw.

[00:20:45] They need to get a win.

[00:20:46] So they're fighting all the way through and you give them, you bring it back into the match, uh, and look and get level with you.

[00:20:52] Uh, it opens it up.

[00:20:54] It's a brand new marriage.

[00:20:56] So the one on one with a granny, I think that's the one step for the match of the week or whatever with the USL.

[00:21:05] And I looked at the other three candidates and I don't know how it's even comparable.

[00:21:11] Grinney's save was just, I mean, he laid out and I'm gonna say laid out whatever, whatever you call that little motion keepers do.

[00:21:19] And it's one on one.

[00:21:20] They have hands going out one way and foot shooting out the other.

[00:21:24] He timed it so well and, uh, he did a fantastic job that, uh, saved us a goal.

[00:21:31] It's like the Australian break dancer.

[00:21:33] Yeah, that's it.

[00:21:34] I mean, yeah.

[00:21:35] I mean, it should be save of the week.

[00:21:37] One V one.

[00:21:40] There's no reason to save it.

[00:21:41] The guy should dribble right around him and tap it in.

[00:21:45] But, hey, he doesn't.

[00:21:47] Yeah.

[00:21:47] And for the life of me, how Grinney's been playing, I don't know how he didn't win the Golden Glove for the USL championship.

[00:21:56] I don't either.

[00:21:57] And even when you look at the save, it wasn't like there was a break away from the midline and then Grinney knew he had to come out.

[00:22:04] So we have a defender on him all the way up to like the last couple steps.

[00:22:08] So Grinney had to make a decision, split second decision, whether to stay in goal or come out.

[00:22:13] And he chose to come out, which was a brilliant, brilliant.

[00:22:16] And this is like, this is week in week out.

[00:22:20] He does it like he saves penalties.

[00:22:22] He saves one V ones because I don't know how many times we talk about this.

[00:22:27] He, our defense is just lacking half the time.

[00:22:29] We push too far up.

[00:22:30] Like he is playing as like a sweeper keeper and stopping these attacks.

[00:22:36] I mean, no offense to Eric and Dick.

[00:22:39] Great season, but he split time as a goalie.

[00:22:42] Grinney only split time when he was injured.

[00:22:44] Mm hmm.

[00:22:46] That was it.

[00:22:47] Like, I know they talk about.

[00:22:50] Uh, Dick's like their teams, but haven't let a goal in in 371 minutes.

[00:22:57] That's kudos to defense.

[00:22:59] Like he's very low on shots faced throughout the season.

[00:23:04] So like, I mean, if you have a solid defense, not letting these shots in, I don't think that person wins golden glove.

[00:23:10] I'm a little biased for Grinney because we see it week in week out, but I think his saves are just phenomenal.

[00:23:16] And I'm not big on goalkeeper play.

[00:23:20] And he's kept us in a lot of our games and has us in the number two seed for that reason.

[00:23:27] Dick had what 68 saves.

[00:23:30] Grinney had 64.

[00:23:32] I think it's what this stat I'm looking at.

[00:23:34] Yeah.

[00:23:34] Saves.

[00:23:35] Uh, I mean, it's 14 clean sheets, but I don't think clean sheets should be your end all be all.

[00:23:40] No, cause like you said, it's a defense.

[00:23:43] I mean, you can stand back there.

[00:23:45] Defense is doing well.

[00:23:47] You know, you don't have to even wake up for the day.

[00:23:51] Exactly.

[00:23:52] And I, like I said, no offense to Eric Dick.

[00:23:55] He's a great goalie.

[00:23:56] We played him.

[00:23:57] He played lights out against us.

[00:23:59] I don't think he was the best keeper this year.

[00:24:02] Like if you put together highlight tapes, you can just show it to a random person.

[00:24:07] Grinney's getting picked every single time.

[00:24:09] Oh yeah.

[00:24:10] Do you have to look at, but you gotta look at their games though.

[00:24:13] I mean, they just didn't, he just didn't get scored on them as much.

[00:24:16] I know, but how, like, I just disagree with clean sheets being like the top priority for goalie of the season.

[00:24:23] Like that, to me, that should be like defense of the season.

[00:24:28] Or, like he didn't taste the most shots.

[00:24:31] Yeah, but he aren't sort of like, if that, if that guy's taste the most shots and had the most clean sheets.

[00:24:36] A hundred percent.

[00:24:36] Yeah, it was, um, it goes.

[00:24:38] So the goalkeeper award goes, it's like an average score based on clean sheets and by goals against like your average per game.

[00:24:46] And, uh, Grinney's kind of dropped off at the end of the season and went to like 1.04.

[00:24:52] And I think Eric Dick finished with a 0.96.

[00:24:58] Yeah, which is just unfair because our defense let him down more than anything.

[00:25:02] Like he was getting bombarded back there.

[00:25:04] And he's still making incredible saves.

[00:25:06] And that's the hard part about keepers.

[00:25:07] And again, that's the hard part with defenders because the defenders make one mistake and then keep her get scored on.

[00:25:13] You know, that's why you don't see those players want a whole lot of awards.

[00:25:17] And that's why you see coaches kind of award them with penalty kicks in certain games or stuff like that, trying to award them because they don't get recognized as often as they should.

[00:25:26] Like, you know, for example, like the Balladalore or other awards out there, out there around the world.

[00:25:33] Just my opinion, but you're, you're absolutely right.

[00:25:37] I think he was robbed of it, but I think he is a better keeper, but we'll, we'll go through the playoffs and we'll show them this weekend.

[00:25:45] Yeah.

[00:25:46] I think so.

[00:25:47] Oh, one another shout out because it really involves, uh, one day V.

[00:25:51] Ooh.

[00:25:52] Let's hear it.

[00:25:53] Corner kit.

[00:25:55] Retro.

[00:25:56] Bar pokes.

[00:25:57] Boom.

[00:26:00] Can we talk about it more than just one day V.

[00:26:03] Corner kit.

[00:26:06] Retro.

[00:26:06] Retro.

[00:26:07] I mean, it's good placement.

[00:26:08] Yeah.

[00:26:09] It's good placement.

[00:26:11] I mean, it's like, it was kind of like their goal.

[00:26:13] I kind of just bounced, bounced over to him, trickled and he just, just swung a leg at it.

[00:26:18] And it, it went up.

[00:26:19] Pat, I do have a question for you since you weren't at, you were at that.

[00:26:22] You were at this game, the Loudon game, but you weren't at the game or when Granite and I were there, I was kind of dogging out on Arturo, not one of them on pitch, one of them to get them all pitch.

[00:26:35] Yeah, he was really dogging them.

[00:26:37] Really dogging them.

[00:26:38] How do you, I heard it in the last pod.

[00:26:41] How do I think he played?

[00:26:42] Yeah.

[00:26:43] Okay.

[00:26:44] I mean, I, this wasn't a super strong opponent.

[00:26:46] Well, he scored a good goal.

[00:26:48] I thought everyone, I thought everyone was lackluster besides Torres, realistically.

[00:26:52] On Davey.

[00:26:54] I mean, we didn't attack.

[00:26:56] We really didn't like push them and we could have.

[00:26:58] That's what I'm saying.

[00:26:59] I don't think we can push teams with him at KM.

[00:27:02] What was he playing?

[00:27:03] Was he playing KM?

[00:27:05] I mean, Icaza was in at the same time and Torres, so it's not like he's the sole guy.

[00:27:11] Who do we pull off for?

[00:27:13] It might've been Nick, I think.

[00:27:15] Did Nick come off for him?

[00:27:16] It might've been.

[00:27:18] Yeah.

[00:27:19] Cause, and let's, let's talk about Nick for a second.

[00:27:22] The young man, golden boot winner for the USL.

[00:27:27] Leaps and bounds.

[00:27:28] Better than, scored more goals than, than anybody in the MLS and other leagues.

[00:27:34] All US.

[00:27:37] And I've been hard on Nick cause I think he just scores easy goals, but still just the sheer,

[00:27:42] a number of goals he scored, whether they're easy goals or not, nobody else made them.

[00:27:48] Only he made them.

[00:27:49] Uh, when he come off, I don't think anybody realized there the magnitude of him being subbed out.

[00:27:55] Cause I think coach Perrin probably did it as the allow us all to clap him off the field.

[00:28:00] But reality, what happened is the golden boot winner for the USL for 2024 got subbed off and it was fantastic.

[00:28:08] He got some minutes in and, and, and, uh, we all got to see him.

[00:28:14] Yeah.

[00:28:14] It was kind of sucky cause it was right after the Latin scored.

[00:28:18] So it was a one, one game early on 60, 64th minute.

[00:28:25] Um, yeah, it's one of those where you, you kind of want to wait until the 70, 75th, 79, get them, uh, get them a little break, but get that.

[00:28:33] Like you said, granted get the entire stadium applauding, maybe take like a minute or two and respect him, clap it up, give them a moment to cherish it.

[00:28:44] And I don't know.

[00:28:47] I felt like we missed that moment.

[00:28:48] Yeah. And I'm going to, I'm going to blame this on the battery that the people that run in the speakers and everything else that should have been a bigger moment than what it was.

[00:28:58] And they should have got on there and made it much bigger about him being the golden boot winner and being subbed off instead of just the average everyday sub, you know, cause it's not like most of the fans there are like we are, or we're attuned to it.

[00:29:13] And we, we understand and appreciate what was happening.

[00:29:17] If a lot of the other fans knew due to announcements before he got subbed off or when he was getting subbed off that this was something huge, not just for him, but also for the battery, it might've been a little different reaction.

[00:29:31] Yeah. And he's not sticking around. So I know we have another game coming up first playoff game for us, but unlike the MLS where you get to play the same team like 15 times and see who just wins the most.

[00:29:45] Uh, it's one and done. So I mean, unless we win it all, he's not going to get that send off. So, I mean, it's, it's, it's like you said, it should have been handled a little bit better moment missed, but I think everyone who watches the battery understands it.

[00:30:05] And hopefully he gets something, maybe a little pregame or something coming up for the next match.

[00:30:11] Absolutely. He deserves it. He earned it. So speaking of one off Saturday night, us versus Pittsburgh. We nervous? We excited?

[00:30:26] Excited. We've been here before. We were here last year when we handled Birmingham. I'm nervous as shit.

[00:30:40] Yes.

[00:30:41] I mean, we've won two games in our last six. We haven't beat Pittsburgh this year. We have a loss and a drop off.

[00:30:49] I don't know what I'm seeing from the guys out there. I thought we would like tighten it up a little bit by this last match. And I don't know.

[00:30:57] It like, what's the saying? Shit and bricks. I'm over here. Shit and bricks.

[00:31:01] I cannot wait until we go. For anybody who's listening, we're switching to video podcast at the end of the season because this was a beautiful moment that I think that was, should have been captured.

[00:31:13] Orion feeling confident in his answer and then looking at what Patrick's eyes are big.

[00:31:17] What the hell is he talking about?

[00:31:18] That's it.

[00:31:20] But yes, shit and bricks. I think that's a proper term. Maybe, maybe more Charleston term, shitting rod iron or something. I don't know.

[00:31:30] Phosphate chunks. Cause this is it. When you look at our form, we had a win, draw a loss, a draw and a win.

[00:31:36] And Pittsburgh, even though they're down in number seven, their draw win, win, win, win, win. And they've had us.

[00:31:45] Recently too. October 12th, we just lost to them. 2-0.

[00:31:51] Now that was a way. Now you gotta look at that game differently because that was a way. And you also have to look at who we played. Nick didn't play. Robbie was playing left back.

[00:32:03] Don't believe it on Robbie.

[00:32:05] I mean, they dominated that game.

[00:32:06] I'm just saying we didn't have our starting lineup in. You don't think that in the first round of the playoffs, we're not gonna have a starting lineup in.

[00:32:11] You don't think Icaza's gonna be holding that midfield with Malloy. Most likely Chris Allen. You got MD up top.

[00:32:17] Mick Marquette got wide. Torres got wide. Dos Santos. Archer. Graham Smith. Segbers.

[00:32:24] Segbers also didn't play in Pittsburgh, I'm pretty sure. It was like another person.

[00:32:28] I mean, I know the starting lineup for us.

[00:32:30] That team comes out. We win 2-1. We win.

[00:32:35] I mean, they need a little effort. I'll say that.

[00:32:38] You're gonna see it from the board.

[00:32:39] Is this it? Like, they've just been playing Koi for these past, like, six games?

[00:32:43] I'm ready.

[00:32:43] Now they're gonna flip the switch and just start ripping off goals?

[00:32:47] I'm ready. No, I don't think it's like ripping off goals like you think.

[00:32:50] But I'm ready for Segbers to put in a tackle and rock the Pittsburgh winger in the first five minutes.

[00:32:57] And then getting you on the side like, alright, Ryan, I am in.

[00:33:02] I am. We got this game now.

[00:33:05] Oh, I'm in. I think our center defenders and outside backs are awesome.

[00:33:11] I just lack confidence in our midfield getting back to help them.

[00:33:15] You ain't gotta worry about that.

[00:33:16] Patrick, he's right. We don't worry about that.

[00:33:19] So the last couple matches we played, we've kind of went into them like, well, are we gonna start our best 11?

[00:33:25] We should always start our best 11.

[00:33:26] Then they don't start the best 11.

[00:33:28] So we're like, okay, that's fine.

[00:33:29] We're just trying to make sure we don't get injured.

[00:33:31] And we just haven't had the best results.

[00:33:34] We'll find out whether that's a great tactic or if that was not maybe the most advised.

[00:33:40] It seems like we may be the only team that kind of took that.

[00:33:44] Except for Tampa Bay.

[00:33:45] But anyways, because the other teams seem to be winning at the end where we weren't.

[00:33:51] So how do you think it's gonna affect us when we play Pittsburgh?

[00:33:53] We're gonna be well rested.

[00:33:55] Well, Tampa obviously had to mess up with the hurricane.

[00:33:57] They were removed from their homes and they had to play on the road.

[00:34:01] And you can understand their situation is a little different.

[00:34:05] But we were one of the only teams in the whole league to kind of do this and be in this situation.

[00:34:13] Whereas you had New Mexico continuously putting in their starting lineup, trying to chase for a club record in points.

[00:34:22] Congrats to them.

[00:34:26] But, you know, hopefully this pays off.

[00:34:28] We've been talking about it in the last four podcasts and me personally, I'm just kind of frustrated by it.

[00:34:34] But now we're here.

[00:34:36] You know, now we're here.

[00:34:37] I'm excited.

[00:34:39] I'm bought into Coach Pierman.

[00:34:42] And, you know, I'm trusting this process.

[00:34:45] I'm not gonna question it from here on out because he got us to this point.

[00:34:49] And, you know, number two seed last year, we were three.

[00:34:52] Now we're two.

[00:34:55] And I don't know.

[00:34:56] I mean, I'm really excited.

[00:34:58] I'm excited.

[00:34:59] Just take it to Pittsburgh.

[00:35:01] This year, we broke the club record for wins in the season.

[00:35:05] Did we not?

[00:35:06] We did.

[00:35:09] So, there's that.

[00:35:11] Which is a good thing.

[00:35:14] And maybe it's good that we can kind of relax a little bit towards the end here.

[00:35:17] And these guys maybe can ramp it up.

[00:35:22] I mean, at the end of the day, yes, there's seeds based on your record.

[00:35:28] Seeds don't mean anything in the playoff.

[00:35:30] It's team versus team.

[00:35:31] Win or go home.

[00:35:33] Once you get to the next round, it's whoever just won that.

[00:35:36] We're just playing.

[00:35:37] It doesn't matter if it's a fourth seed, a sixth seed, a number one seed.

[00:35:41] It's one game.

[00:35:42] Beat the team.

[00:35:43] I do have confidence our team can do that and step it up.

[00:35:47] But there's no schlups.

[00:35:50] There's no losers in the playoffs.

[00:35:52] Every team's gonna bring it.

[00:35:53] And it's gonna be...

[00:35:54] It doesn't matter who you're playing.

[00:35:56] You can play...

[00:35:56] Unless it was Miami, I guess.

[00:35:58] But any other team is going to bring their A game, their best 11.

[00:36:04] And it's gonna be a dogfight on that pitch.

[00:36:06] So I'm confident our boys can at least scrap one out.

[00:36:09] So Ryan, another quick assignment for you.

[00:36:14] The goals for and against in Pittsburgh's last four matches.

[00:36:20] Take a look at it.

[00:36:22] Or you can guess.

[00:36:23] Oh, I can guess.

[00:36:25] Let's have him guess.

[00:36:26] I'm gonna say their goals four in the last six games.

[00:36:31] It's a four.

[00:36:32] Last four games.

[00:36:33] That's four games.

[00:36:33] They scored seven and got scored on four times.

[00:36:39] Ten and zero.

[00:36:43] So not too bad.

[00:36:45] Yeah.

[00:36:45] They beat Miami four nil.

[00:36:47] They beat...

[00:36:47] Oh, that doesn't count.

[00:36:48] Is that some team called the Charleston Battery?

[00:36:51] Two nil.

[00:36:52] And they beat some other team, Loudon, two nil.

[00:36:55] And then they just beat El Paso.

[00:36:57] Two zero.

[00:36:58] Two nil.

[00:37:00] The Miami one...

[00:37:01] Yeah, strikes.

[00:37:02] Because one, Miami's garbage.

[00:37:04] We already know from Ryan that they got rid of their best player.

[00:37:08] Beat tank the whole season.

[00:37:09] Beat...

[00:37:11] And they got a red card.

[00:37:12] And El Paso is 12 in their table in the Western Conference.

[00:37:17] But they've won them at us.

[00:37:19] They've won two matches in the last five.

[00:37:20] So they played two last place teams out of their last four.

[00:37:23] They played us, who we basically had our entire bench playing.

[00:37:28] And then they played Loudon.

[00:37:31] All right.

[00:37:32] I didn't even tell them that's...

[00:37:33] Loudon's probably their top of this game.

[00:37:36] They played other four.

[00:37:40] So what do we do?

[00:37:42] Start our best 11?

[00:37:43] We stay in the same formation?

[00:37:44] Yeah.

[00:37:46] Patrick, you and I talked about it and said,

[00:37:47] why aren't we...

[00:37:48] Wasn't Ben mixing up the formation, trying something different?

[00:37:51] Well, we're just experimenting to make sure people don't get hurt

[00:37:54] and just kind of relaxing a little bit.

[00:37:56] Why are we not trying different formations?

[00:37:58] Do we stick with what we've done all season?

[00:38:02] I mean, I guess it's hard to move away from it at this point.

[00:38:04] Like, it's got us to here.

[00:38:06] Or, I mean, no drastic changes, but...

[00:38:11] I don't know.

[00:38:12] Maybe earlier subs.

[00:38:13] Because you really...

[00:38:14] These past few games have been the only games we've subbed off early.

[00:38:18] And it seemed like to kind of get some rest and some minutes for other guys.

[00:38:21] But maybe we utilize that a little more.

[00:38:24] Like, obviously Nick's not going to be coming off that field until the final whistle.

[00:38:29] Who knows if MD's going to be coming off?

[00:38:31] You might just be doing what we've done before.

[00:38:34] And you take Icaza or Juan Torres off and you put in Jackson Conway.

[00:38:40] You might go with the two-striker look and just throw it all out there.

[00:38:43] So, I'm excited.

[00:38:47] I think it's going to be attack.

[00:38:48] All attack.

[00:38:49] I think it's going to be a hard-fought game.

[00:38:52] You know, definitely in the midfield especially.

[00:38:56] But our defense maker is going to be Icaza.

[00:39:00] I think we're going to get loads of chances in the beginning.

[00:39:05] Not going to come.

[00:39:06] And we're finally going to have a breakthrough.

[00:39:09] And I think Icaza is going to be the one who lifts us and gives us that spark for the team.

[00:39:15] And, you know, Pittsburgh, again, I'm going to choose them to get a goal on us and to level it.

[00:39:23] And to give the battery a chance to push forward again, get a late goal.

[00:39:29] And to really show us what kind of playoff run they're going to try and go on.

[00:39:34] I do see them winning 3-1 in my prediction.

[00:39:37] I'm getting two more late goals.

[00:39:40] Just further solidifying their win.

[00:39:44] And I don't see them wanting to pull the brakes on anybody in the playoffs when they're up.

[00:39:51] Patrick, what's your prediction?

[00:39:54] I think it's going to be a 1-0.

[00:39:55] I think it's going to be a really hard-fought game.

[00:39:57] And Grinney's going to come up huge for us like he's been all season.

[00:40:02] I don't know if it's going to be a random call that we all hate as fans.

[00:40:06] That turns into a penalty.

[00:40:09] But maybe he makes a save like that.

[00:40:12] Or some drastic save to keep us alive.

[00:40:15] And I'm with Ryan on a late goal.

[00:40:17] But I just think it's going to be 1-0.

[00:40:19] I'm going to go with my 2-0.

[00:40:22] Of course, Juan David.

[00:40:24] He has a goal.

[00:40:25] Because he's on fire.

[00:40:27] Wigo.

[00:40:28] And then I'm going to go with Arturo again.

[00:40:31] My three worse.

[00:40:35] Markanik.

[00:40:36] Myers.

[00:40:37] Icaza.

[00:40:40] That's three goal scores?

[00:40:42] I'm sorry.

[00:40:43] We win 3-1 from our prediction.

[00:40:47] All right.

[00:40:48] Well, then I'll throw it in.

[00:40:49] Graham Smith, baby.

[00:40:51] Had to home.

[00:40:52] Oh, I like that.

[00:40:54] Okay.

[00:40:55] I like your guys' better.

[00:40:57] Two goals.

[00:40:58] Three goals.

[00:40:59] No, but give him a snap.

[00:41:00] Graham Smith.

[00:41:01] Like, love that.

[00:41:04] Oh, the guy's had the, like, second most passes in the league this year.

[00:41:07] Gets dogged on all awards.

[00:41:09] He does.

[00:41:10] So let's talk about awards.

[00:41:11] Because before we were warming up for this podcast, Patrick, you were

[00:41:16] cramming stats down our throats.

[00:41:18] Like, hey, Grant, you want these things?

[00:41:20] I was like, wow, what you got?

[00:41:22] And then all of a sudden, I was like, bam.

[00:41:23] All of a sudden, I see a camera in the, I mean, a phone in the camera.

[00:41:29] So let's talk shit about whoever decided that Aaron Malloy was not worthy of the

[00:41:35] award he didn't get.

[00:41:39] And three, two, one, go.

[00:41:42] Cision does not deserve the Golden Playmaker Award from Rhode Island.

[00:41:47] Half that team has a bunch of goals just because he gets 10 assists.

[00:41:51] He's the Golden Player of the Year.

[00:41:54] I mean, I was starting to defend Malloy on this, and I was like, why don't I just

[00:41:58] defend Nick Marcannon?

[00:42:00] You want to do goal comparison?

[00:42:02] 28 goals to what?

[00:42:04] Eight?

[00:42:06] Assist?

[00:42:08] Yeah, Fusion had 10.

[00:42:09] Nick still came in with five.

[00:42:12] Then you want to go with key passes.

[00:42:14] 33 for Nick.

[00:42:16] Fusion had 40.

[00:42:18] But the big part, tackles.

[00:42:21] Nick almost doubled him with just under 40 to 19.

[00:42:26] Like, it's the defensive work, the offensive work, and you're just not going to give him

[00:42:31] as the best player overall.

[00:42:33] Yeah, he gets Golden Boot.

[00:42:34] That's a totally separate category than winning best player of the season.

[00:42:39] Like, this guy's worked defensively and offensively for us.

[00:42:43] I just don't get giving an award to a guy because he had the most assists and being like,

[00:42:49] well, we can't give it to the guy who had the most goals because he's already getting one.

[00:42:53] I just think that's bogus.

[00:42:55] Yeah, but there's other stats that go to your argument.

[00:42:59] There are interceptions.

[00:43:01] 21 interceptions to six.

[00:43:03] Passes?

[00:43:03] Clearances.

[00:43:04] The same amount of clearances were made.

[00:43:06] I mean, if we want to talk about Malloy, Malloy had a thousand more key passes than Fusion did.

[00:43:15] And he played, what, six less games?

[00:43:17] Five less games?

[00:43:19] A thousand?

[00:43:20] A thousand.

[00:43:22] Yeah, I thought that's amazing.

[00:43:23] Not even making it up.

[00:43:24] This is not a Patrick exaggeration stat.

[00:43:27] This is a real stat.

[00:43:29] This is like a one with three zeros to the right of it.

[00:43:32] Correct.

[00:43:33] A lot of money.

[00:43:34] And that's just a thousand more.

[00:43:37] But yeah, this other guy deserves it.

[00:43:40] For sure.

[00:43:40] He had a couple more assists.

[00:43:42] Wait, wait, wait.

[00:43:42] Okay.

[00:43:43] But those passes, anybody can pass a thousand more than somebody else.

[00:43:46] But what about the accuracy of them?

[00:43:47] Because that's really important.

[00:43:50] Yeah.

[00:43:50] I think what in the opponent's half, he, Malloy was at like almost 89%.

[00:43:56] And I think Fusion was in the high 60s.

[00:44:00] So that's not a big difference either, right?

[00:44:03] No.

[00:44:03] Wow.

[00:44:04] So I'm assuming that 60% is better?

[00:44:08] Yeah, for sure.

[00:44:09] Well, in certain people's eyes, it must be.

[00:44:11] It must be.

[00:44:13] I mean, it's just, it's not a fun thing to get heated over, but it is something you can

[00:44:17] very easily get heated over, which I did tonight.

[00:44:20] Yeah, I'm pretty heated over myself because it's just, it's really throwing some shade.

[00:44:26] I think it's more of a, hey, Rhode Island's a new team and we should give them some, something

[00:44:32] good to hold on to.

[00:44:33] Well, you need to look back at the first broadcast when it was raining and we couldn't see the

[00:44:37] damn field and it was in a high school pitch.

[00:44:39] And then all of a sudden we started throwing out numbers with Aaron Malloy beating this guy

[00:44:44] in every attribute except for one and he gets player of the season.

[00:44:48] Here's one.

[00:44:49] How does a guy win player of the season when he gets subbed off in a third of the games?

[00:44:55] He's tired.

[00:44:56] I mean, he was, he's already done his X class and so it was time to get off.

[00:44:59] You don't want to show everybody else.

[00:45:00] Hey Pat, I got a question for you about that thousand stat.

[00:45:05] Mm-hmm.

[00:45:05] What's the difference between just a regular pass and a key pass?

[00:45:10] So key passes are when you're setting someone else up on your team to either an open space

[00:45:18] for a cross to maybe an attempt on goal or a ball through to someone that is on goal immediately.

[00:45:24] So like you're creating a chance for someone else, whereas just a regular pass, we can see

[00:45:30] it just going like sideways or backwards, but this is an attacking movement pass.

[00:45:35] That's essentially what a golden playmaker would, would do.

[00:45:41] Maybe.

[00:45:42] It's interesting.

[00:45:44] Okay.

[00:45:45] A thousand more times.

[00:45:46] That's.

[00:45:48] Yeah.

[00:45:49] Something to sleep on tonight.

[00:45:51] I don't know.

[00:45:51] Well, don't.

[00:45:52] There's a thousand.

[00:45:53] It's like paper cuts.

[00:45:54] It's like death by a thousand passes.

[00:45:57] Oh, Aaron's going to let it flood these playoffs.

[00:46:00] He's got to feel right.

[00:46:01] I mean, we can go as follows.

[00:46:03] You get a creation.

[00:46:04] You get a creation.

[00:46:05] You get a.

[00:46:06] Red cards.

[00:46:07] Malloy doesn't have a red.

[00:46:09] Fusion does.

[00:46:10] Just saying.

[00:46:11] It's all right.

[00:46:12] We'll see them in the podcast.

[00:46:14] We'll get texts from Pat.

[00:46:16] You can.

[00:46:21] We may.

[00:46:22] We may see him in the Eastern Conference finals.

[00:46:24] Then we could put it to bed.

[00:46:25] Yeah, that would be.

[00:46:26] They just have to get past Indy and then potentially Louisville or North Carolina.

[00:46:31] So.

[00:46:31] Well, they've got it because they got the player of the season.

[00:46:34] With all those massive passes.

[00:46:36] Passing numbers.

[00:46:36] Yeah.

[00:46:37] So.

[00:46:37] They should be flying right through.

[00:46:39] Probably.

[00:46:40] Like I said, we got Graham Smith.

[00:46:41] He's like number two.

[00:46:43] Or a battery player doesn't give them too much trouble in the first round of the playoffs.

[00:46:46] With Augie Williams.

[00:46:49] We've got our predictions in.

[00:46:50] We know who our starting limb is going to be.

[00:46:52] One day V.

[00:46:53] Torres is going to be man of the match.

[00:46:55] So let's talk about pre-match festivities.

[00:46:58] Yes.

[00:46:59] I think when's kickoff?

[00:47:01] 630?

[00:47:01] Yes.

[00:47:01] Kickoff is at 630.

[00:47:03] I think everything's firing up out in the blue lot around 4-ish.

[00:47:08] I know the regiment's going to be out there.

[00:47:10] Also, you're going to see a little bit of a local supporters club for EPL team.

[00:47:15] Charcenal is going to be out there co-located with the regiment.

[00:47:20] Please go over there.

[00:47:21] Say hi to everyone.

[00:47:22] Join in on all the fun and festivities.

[00:47:25] If you're a season ticket holder, I think they've sent out emails about maybe getting in.

[00:47:29] Staying a little early to get some first looks at the kit.

[00:47:35] Get some merch.

[00:47:37] Maybe a few food and beverage specials for season ticket members.

[00:47:42] Yeah, there's none of those.

[00:47:45] No, I think there's a little.

[00:47:46] Inside there's a little thing going on with some food and stuff like that.

[00:47:49] Oh, there's going to be a live band?

[00:47:52] There might be a little live band action.

[00:47:55] Absolutely.

[00:47:56] And what else?

[00:47:57] Is that it?

[00:47:59] Blue lot, baby.

[00:48:00] Beers in the blue lot.

[00:48:02] Beers in the blue lot.

[00:48:03] And so I'll be there.

[00:48:05] Patrick, you'll be there.

[00:48:07] Ryan may be there.

[00:48:09] Ryan, you'll be there?

[00:48:11] I'll be inside for sure for the free game.

[00:48:16] And then depends on how the wife is feeling.

[00:48:21] You don't have to add that part.

[00:48:22] Let's try this again.

[00:48:23] Ryan, you're going to be there?

[00:48:24] You don't want to say that publicly that depends upon the wife.

[00:48:29] Grace is not going to like that.

[00:48:31] Let's try this again.

[00:48:32] Ryan, you're going to be there, right?

[00:48:35] Yes.

[00:48:37] Very good.

[00:48:38] That's short and sweet.

[00:48:41] Listen to the post-podcast little segment and you'll hear it.

[00:48:45] It's so funny.

[00:48:47] Okay.

[00:48:47] I have nothing else.

[00:48:49] I'm so looking forward to this.

[00:48:51] And I'm looking forward to a long post-season playoff run.

[00:48:55] And I know we're going to do fantastic.

[00:48:57] And I'm going to see some fireworks and everybody fired up on Saturday, afternoon, Saturday evening.

[00:49:03] Oh, wait.

[00:49:04] Great.

[00:49:04] And one more thing.

[00:49:05] Isn't there a new place over here in West Ashley where Arsenal fans may be able to get a new beverage?

[00:49:13] So, there is maybe, it might be called the House of Brews.

[00:49:17] And so, just in case nobody knows, the Edmonds O's Brewing Company has commissioned a new beer called Charsenal Pale Ale.

[00:49:27] It's out in cans and it's actually on tap at Edmonds O's Brewing Company on King Street, up part of King Street.

[00:49:33] It's pretty good.

[00:49:34] It beats the shit out of the other beer of a local brewer that I'm not going to mention that really doesn't add anything to the local supporters groups like Edmonds O's Brewing Company does.

[00:49:45] But Charsenal Pale Ale, good beer.

[00:49:47] I got to see it roll off the conveyor belts when they brought it out.

[00:49:51] Tasted it.

[00:49:52] It met my approval.

[00:49:55] Granted, what was it?

[00:49:56] A lager?

[00:49:57] It was not a lager.

[00:49:59] Somebody texted us earlier in our WhatsApp group or said, oh, look.

[00:50:03] There's Charsenal Lager.

[00:50:06] What's your better name?

[00:50:08] Yeah, if it wasn't, but for the label that says Charsenal Pale Ale.

[00:50:15] So, maybe it's the Pale Ale Lager.

[00:50:17] I don't know.

[00:50:17] Why does it have to be so pale?

[00:50:19] It's lighter for game days.

[00:50:21] It's got to be in under 5%.

[00:50:23] It is actually.

[00:50:24] So, it was purposefully brewed to be under that 5%.

[00:50:28] So, nice little session beer kind of.

[00:50:32] Not quite session beer, but you can have a couple, enjoy it, and not be yelling crazy things at the end of the match.

[00:50:40] Well, at least from the inducement of alcohol, that is.

[00:50:45] Nah, I don't see that stopping you guys.

[00:50:48] Nope.

[00:50:49] Not a bit.

[00:50:50] You never would.

[00:50:51] You have to double it up.

[00:50:54] Okay, gentlemen.

[00:50:56] I'll see you Saturday.

[00:50:58] Alright, see you guys Saturday.

[00:51:00] Peace.

[00:51:01] Playhouse Saturday.

[00:51:02] Come on.
