From Miami Heat to Rowdies’ Defeat: Derby Glory & Davy Jones

The Charleston Battery just served up a double-dose of dominance, and the Cannon Crüe is on one.

Granit, Ryan, and Patrick open with Charleston’s biggest moment of the season: a third-straight win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies, ending their Jaegermeister Cup hopes, keeping the No Quarter Derby Trophy firmly in Charleston, and crushing their Jaegermeister Cup dreams and sending them straight to Davy Jones' Locker. There’s controversy, there’s violence (looking at you, Christian Garner backheel foul), and there’s plenty of spice — including some pointed referee critiques and theories about dark arts at play.

Then it’s on to the Miami match, where the Battery kept their momentum rolling with a solid home win, controlling the game from midfield and continuing to climb the table.

From on-field brilliance to referee blunders, from Christian Garner getting kicked to the No Quarter Derby Trophy staying in Charleston, this episode fires on all cylinders — with a heavy dose of pirate trash talk and well-earned rivalry gloating.

Speaker A

Eric Malboy won't provide the service and.

Granit

It'S a free header and it's the opening goal.

Speaker C

Welcome to Cannon Crew, a weekly podcast discussing the Charleston battles. Your host, Granite will be joined by other defenders of the fleet from the black and yellow supporters section. And together they will help fortify and conquer. They are the Cannon Crew.

Granit

Welcome to the can of Crew podcast. I am Granite. I am joined by the ever lovely Ryan Martin.

ryan

How are you?

Granit

Good, good.

Patrick

And Patrick, I'm going by Ryan number four today.

Granit

So Ryan number four.

Patrick

What's going on?

Granit

Look, look, we're twinning or jerseys.

Patrick

Oh, no, no, no. I got the poor man's badge.

Granit

Oh, that's right, that's right. Sorry. I'll shall look down upon you, sir.

Patrick

I didn't get the iron on.

Granit

So something comical happened last night. Speaking of iron ons and. Well, anyways, something comical happened last night, so not often do we get to play the spoiler, but lord, did we do some spoiling last night. Did we break some little Tampa Bay rowdy hearts?

ryan

That we did. That we did. We swept them on the year and not only that, we stopped them from really winning the only competition they were really in.

Granit

A little spursy, I think. I think I said it was. Weren't they top? Weren't they top?

ryan

They were top. So all they needed to do was, I believe it was a tie or win and they got to advance.

Granit

They almost got. No, they did. We were. I think we were just playing with them all through the Jaegermeister Cup. This is an elaborate plan. And then. And then we kind of drop the mic.

ryan

Well, you think it was kind of planned. So now we get our two loanees who are out at Greenville, get to advance further through this competition and allowing them to play USL championship team teams because Greenville was the only non championship team to advance to the round of 16.

Granit

So I'm not a conspiracy theorist, right? Not saying that we control things like we have levers behind the screen, but we interview Toby. Guess what? They advance on. I don't know what else.

Patrick

Food for thought.

Granit

I think we're got a curtain somewhere. So I would like to spend like the next 25 minutes just laughing at him because it's kind of funny because it really was. But here's the part. They're a bunch of thugs. The foul on Christian Gardner, who is. I don't know if he's a friend of our Canon crew, but we've also interviewed him. He's a great guy, communicates with us and everything. That foul was a Red card if I haven't seen one before.

ryan

Hands down. That's not even an exaggerated either.

Granit

He didn't have any chance to get the ball and he has his back turned to him. And what he back heals him and the small of his back.

Patrick

Granted you grew up watching Karate Kid. That's a total legal move.

Granit

Well, that guy needs to have his mullet waxed off. I mean because that was just. It's unbelievable the foul that occurred and two, at least two officials watching it. An AR and a center. And I don't know who the AR was but center's name, guy named Thomas Snyder who shouldn't probably be out there refereeing. He should be down doing youth league, probably U12 and nothing but a little bit of yellow card. Then the son of looked shocked. I think he was more shocked because he thought I'm going into the locker room.

Patrick

Imagine the shock on his face hearing that. You said he should be waxed off.

Granit

Should be waxed off.

Patrick

So I mean it's. It's ridiculous, right? It's. It's one thing to do a 5050 challenge ball. I'm very much for that. You're going for the ball. Everyone has the right. I, me personally, I think keepers are overly protected in a lot of leagues. And it's quick to a whistle for a lot of stuff. That's not an issue. This is one where the guy's coming through his back. No attempt on the ball. The keeper has it for a solid half a second, which is a lifetime when you're in the air and he still makes the move at him to disrupt him, to injure him coming down because the goalie has to hold the ball so he can't put his arms down, can't lay out, do something like any other player on the field will do. So yeah, it's. I. I think legal terms they call it.

Granit

Yeah, that's what we call it, call it dude. Deserve. Oh. Anyways, so Christian said that he's injury's not too serious. Even more happy they got got the three points and all eyes ahead to Louisville. So I'm glad he's not hurt too bad. I'm glad you know, because he's. His chances to play were Jaegermeister cup and when you get taken out in the first, you know, half of the first half, that robs you of important minutes. And that guy did that because there's no excuse.

Patrick

Well, think of it, Ryan, touch on this. Think of it. If it was like Kuz who came back from injury to play in a Quote, unquote cup game, which would be a game a player of his stature would come back to from injury list. What if this was the scenario and he re injures himself after a long stint out. Like, can you touch on what that would mean? Like, and we're still not seeing repercussions for these actions.

ryan

I think it's a, it's an, it's a, it's a wake up call for these league officials especially who have been in a typical hot seat dealing with what we had to deal with in the final back in 23 all of last season, I felt like the referees were under scrutiny. And then again we find ourselves in the middle of the season where we're not getting the, the help, the player safety, especially the keepers. Like I understand players will say keepers are overprotected in certain leagues or in other areas and all that stuff. I. Keepers should be protected. Overprotected is one thing, but he was not protected at all. And if that was also coups he was coming back from injury. It's well known that he's coming back from injury. And if he were to get reheart, you'd have to think that's not cynical. Like it can't. It has to be cynical in the way it was done. Like as you could point out with Christian's injury. Yes. Or foul against him yesterday. Like that was cynical.

Patrick

There's.

ryan

There's no part about that. That that dude truly was going to go win that ball. There's no part of that.

Granit

He, he. Yeah. And, and I think it's that it's, it's past cynical. I think it's, it's almost violent con because he was trying to hurt him and he was out to hurt him. Couldn't play the ball. The ball's up near Christian's, got it between his hands and above his head where he left up to get it. Not even a chance to get the ball. So I don't know. There's no other excuse other than that back heel into his back as being violent conduct and that, that is well deserving of a red card because you.

ryan

Also, the player is completely unprotected. And when you go up in the air like anything could have happened. He could have landed on his neck.

Patrick

When you're not.

ryan

I don't think these referees even think.

Patrick

About it this particular case. You're not even challenging for the ball because your back is to the keeper trying to jump into him. You're not even attempting to go for the ball. So it makes a whole Nother case for is the league ever going to take a retroactive like step and actually control these things? Control this violent conduct that goes into certain teams which we talked about earlier, Granite. But like certain teams have this style of do it until you kind of get yelled at or everyone knows this league has certain refs that you can push around a little bit. I mean this is a great case of it. This guy goes in and then like you said, Ryan acts surprised, he gets a yellow that's a straight red. You should be off the field. There's no intent to go for a ball. You're trying to injure another player on the field. If a guy leaps in with two studs up at a guy's ankle, is this ref just going to be like, hey, here's a yellow?

Granit

I guess so. I mean it's. Anyways, I don't want to talk about anymore.

ryan

One thing I actually haven't seen this year, this season we got it against us two years ago like numerous times. Beginning of the game, we would almost always be handed a card. Like I think we were playing like Hartford Athletic in the fifth minute, Leland got a red card. And there was other games that we've got a yellow in the very beginning. All that stuff. This season as elite, there's been no, hardly any cards compared to last season. We're down over 40% in cards given out in the first 10 minutes. And I feel like this year they're like they're going full throttle in the first 10 minutes just seeing how much you can get away with it.

Patrick

I mean there is certain gameplay, right? Like you, you test what a ref's willing to do. Some games are bigger than others. Some refs handle it correctly. But like you shouldn't be leaving it up to a referee. We know when fouls are fouls. As players, as fans, you understand that as coaches, a ref shouldn't just be like I didn't see it. You have three, four other people on that field to help you out with earpieces to let you know. Same with throwing calls and like kicks off of another player. That stuff is bare minimum should just be correct or incorrect. Like you shouldn't be second guessing and like, oh, I need to go have a chat. If he saw it, then he saw it. You take your line, lineman's judge, like his word for it and you go off of that. Well, you didn't see the guy go up in the air. You have a guy right there staring directly down that line.

ryan

Exactly.

Patrick

He's looking for offsides. He's making that call for you, then he's there to help you do your job.

Granit

He's looking at a different angle. That's the idea behind the ars on the side. He's looking at a different angle. So that sinner should have walked over to the ar, said, what did you see? Do you think it rises to this level of conduct that he should receive red card? I didn't see any of that. It was just a foul. And then all of a sudden threw out a yellow card after he tried to preach to him or something.

Patrick

These are just pinnacle moments in a game that sway the entire game.

Granit

Well, this is.

Patrick

We had to make, we had to make a keeper sub. We had to subkey. We had to use one of our substitutions on the keeper. If we only had say 16 year old Ortiz on the bench. That's a big difference than having a seasoned vet that's our number one starter sitting on the bench come in like that's a game changer in itself and they're purposely out there to do that. So this game could have went a completely different way and it just needs to be handled in the correct manner. You're not sitting here being like wow. I mean we're just guessing. We're all professionals. Handle your situation professionally. You're getting paid to do your job. If you're not going to do it. There's a million other people that want to get paid to be a professional referee. Let them come in and have a shot at it because it's just unacceptable.

Granit

Maybe there's not enough competition. Maybe that's what it is for, for referees. Maybe there's not enough competition so they.

ryan

Don'T have sentence program to where if you call like, I don't know, maybe they get given like 20 bad calls in a game that are knocked down then you get to lose. Like you have to go down leagues or something like that. Like there's no, there's no repercussions for or officiating or a standard being held. And this is not just in soccer, this is across all sports. And a lot of people are having these issues because like I know in the NBA right now they're wanting to hold the referees accountable. I think in the brim we're wanting to interview referees after games. I think that would be awesome. Well, let them answer why they're making some of these decisions.

Granit

There's going to be, there's going to be always mistakes made by referees. There's always, there's always going to be that. That's the human Part of it. But when it's so blatant and it's, it's so blatant and so obvious. I think the referee knew that there's no fans down that end because they ripped the stands from down there and there wasn't going to be anybody yelling, screaming at him because nobody really saw it because the fans weren't close enough to see it. I, I don't know if he took advantage of that. I don't know. I. But something needs to be done about referees like that when they make calls that are not just a judgment call or just not a simple mistake because the action is moving too, too fast. It was two players, nobody else around him. Keeper has the ball in his hands and he gets, you know, kicked in the back.

Patrick

And let, let me add just one last thing. This is build up. This is almost at halftime. The whole first half we've had players that were Tampa Bay going through the back of them were passing the ball off and just two hand shoves through them. Like this is a buildup thing. Yeah. Like it's not something the ref's unaware of or like a one off call that happened and maybe he just, he didn't want to make this all important red card decision. This is, you've seen it. You. They had 16 fouls that were called. A lot of them weren't. So I'd say close to 20 in the first half. Called, not called. The guy was well aware of it at the center half.

Granit

So if I remember correctly, Tampa Bay has the worst disciplinary record in usl at least USL Championship. So that tells you something. Right. So maybe you should be a little more alert. One interaction as Arturo gets a little fired up about things as we know and player went through Nate and really took him out. Arturo kind of stepped up and, and didn't go at the referee but went to said something to him and then the referee doesn't say a word to the Tampa Bay player for take for just cleaning out in a foul on, on the Santos but wants to lecture Arturo. I don't know what he's lecturing about but you know, it really pisses me off.

Patrick

Granted I could touch on this one because that foul happened previous to that foul that you're talking about where he starts getting lectured. Arturo was fouled on the sideline close to the benches. The sideline referee two feet away. Just well, not my call. Not waving my flag for a foul. Starts to get chewed out by Arturo because he's like he just ran through the back of my legs and cleaned Me out. Like, I don't care if I pass the ball. We now turned it over. That's a foul. Like, he cleaned me out from behind. Comes down, the next file happens, and then that's when he starts going at the center ref. Like, dude, you got to start. Like, you can hear him like it. The fall just happened over there two seconds ago. Like, this is going to get out of hand. You got to start calling things or being in charge. And that's when I think he probably caught a little attitude towards him being like, I'm in charge. You could see it. You could see it. Hey, I have this. Me, I have it. Calm down. It's on me. The same thing we see all refs do. He didn't though. So a little bit. I think if we throw blame, we should throw it on Pierman. Pearman should have been up screaming at him.

Granit

What are we saying, Ryan?

ryan

As you said, I hate when referees act like that. When they act like they have it, even though everyone can clearly see that they have zero control of the game. Or number two, they're instigators where no matter what is going on in the game, if you're talking to the. Or you have something with referee, like Arturo, referee to Arturo and had to give him a lecture. Even though Arturo is one constantly being fouled. He's initiating conflict with them to keep rattling people up and just instigating stuff. And there's no need for any of that stuff. A lot of it's just. Just end it, dude. Just make your calls and get over it. Don't sit here and have to explain as a referee doing all this stuff. And then you can't even talk to your other officials to make a clear call when it happens.

Granit

Like, what do we do? You shouldn't. You shouldn't be explaining the calls to anybody. No. Maybe the captain. Maybe if it's like a close call, say, hey, this is what I was going through with the captain.

ryan

That way I'm going, this is what I saw.

Patrick

This is.

ryan

This is what I'm gonna. Gonna call here. Okay. Like, I get that if there's. I mean, bring the captains together. Totally. That happens once in a blue moon. It does happen outside of that now.

Granit

Okay, enough about officiating team. But I think Patrick's got a special thumbs down. I think it was unanimous vote for this referee officiating team. Patrick, would you like to give us the thumbs down?

Patrick

I do, yeah. I really want to do it. And for you who aren't looking on YouTube, just check it out. Just imagine my face is the referee's face right now. He deserves this. One big double thumbs down.

Granit

And that's watch on YouTube. I was going to describe it, but now watch on YouTube. So anything else we got to discuss about this match? Other than the doctor coming in and leaving bodies laid on the floor?

Patrick

I mean, if we want to touch on it, how were we as a team?

Granit

We were. I had people that don't usually go to matches kind of like, is Tampa Bay that good? I said, no. They're. They're absolute. They're a bunch of thugs. They're. I don't know why we're not playing with them, but.

Patrick

It wasn't a super squad either. Like, yeah, we're missing one or two starters, but Cal's out there, defensive lines out there, our midfields out there for the most part, like.

Granit

It should have been.

Patrick

You shouldn't. You shouldn't be getting peppered with shots and good shots, good chances. Like they should have been up four or five goals on us.

Granit

Yeah. Well, anyways, so MD got a goal, pushed up two nil believe. And then they come back, got some kind of hitter. Nate wasn't. I guess he was. Wasn't paying attention or something. I don't know what happened, but wasn't marking the guy up. And I kind of thought Luis should have come out and captured that. That big oblong cross there and picked it out of the air. But maybe he. Maybe he was a little hesitant knowing that he might get a karate kick in the back from a Tampa Bay player, but he said, I ain't going to.

Patrick

I mean, it was the 90th minute, so maybe this is dead legs out there. Yeah. Putting in 100% when they should. Two goal cushion. But this is football. This is what happens. You. You give up an inch, they. They can take it and get a goal out of it.

Granit

Oh, it takes a second. Ryan, any final thoughts on Tampa Bay before we get into the big game? That we haven't discussed yet. No.

ryan

Excited that we don't have to play them anymore and we won't even see them in the postseason.

Granit

Oh, yeah, that's right. We probably won't see them there. And so we had. How many times we played in this season?

ryan

I believe we played them.

Granit

Two, three.

ryan

Three times.

Granit

Three times.

Patrick

Three times.

Granit

And how many times. How many times we beat him? One.

ryan

Three. Three times. Three.

Granit

Three times. Yeah. Good thing. Yeah.

ryan

And we have seven goals scored with only conceding two.

Granit

And I think we let them have it. I think we just. Those are mercy Ones. So let's, let's talk. Let's move a transition pivot, turn where we call and go to the other thrashing of the other Florida team, Miami.

ryan

Well, most people didn't realize, though, that this Miami game was a redemption game for us as we had dropped our first game of this loss to them.

Patrick

Are we changing our names to the Charleston Hurricanes?

Granit

To the what?

Patrick

To the Hurricanes. We only just clean up all of the Florida coast.

Granit

Florida. Sometimes we're a Gulf storm, sometimes we're an Atlantic storm. So let's quickly talk about the influenza that Ryan has. We don't share a mic. So anybody heard that sneeze and didn't see it? You were not sharing about this.

Patrick

Quarantine is quarantine.

Granit

Right. Is now quarantine them.

Patrick

I mean, it was a domination game. It was, it was a game that you expected the battery. And then coming off a game like that into this Tampa, Tampa Bay game, when you're just getting peppered with shots is kind of. Yeah, I mean, this is what we do. We love to play awesome and then play like we've never touched football in our life.

Granit

Well, I, I want to say this about the Miami game. The first 10, 15 minutes, we were just not connecting passes. I don't know what the pass percentage was in that first 15 minutes, but we weren't, we weren't connecting. And we're giving up a lot of interceptions and stuff like that to the other team. But one thing I wanted to say is that our guys never lost their composure. It wasn't like they started going like getting upset with the missed pass or a missed tackle. Stayed in it. And then all of a sudden we started rocking and rolling. Ended up with Joey getting his first goal of his professional career, which is huge. Fantastic form. Congratulations, Joey, because that's. I think it's. To me, that's a huge feat, especially coming off a set piece. Corner kick. Remind me of some of the players we know. Patrick.

Patrick

Learning from the best.

Granit

Yeah. And I'm glad he, he got that because he deserved. He's been working hard, stepped up when you need to, and he's put him. Played himself in that position. And it. Maybe it was because the Miami player just threw himself on the ground because he was so intimidated by Joey. So it gave him a. Basically a free header. I don't know. But anyways, he had to, he had to work for that too. It wasn't like it was just off his head. He had to lean into that. That was a beautiful play. Good job with Aaron kicking In from the corner.

Patrick

Yeah. Same lines for Hikaza, right? Another player has just worked his tail off for the past few weeks and he's another guy that gets one of these well deserved goals. It's not a chance. Fell to me. I'm sitting at the back post last year. MD Myers goals. But like a guy who's just working his ass off. Game in, game out, bench, sub, start. Whatever the coach asks him, he goes in, he does it. And it's nice to see these guys get rewarded and rewarded on the field. Not just with playing time, but with a goal.

Granit

Yeah. You know, there was one moment where he pick up the ball right outside of our 18 and just saw space and just took off with it and just ate up. You know, usually you pass through those lines. He dribbled through those lines because nobody even get close to him. I was like, man, this guy is. He's always on fire. If there's any energy, there's energy in the causes legs. And if he was showing it. But that goal that come in there, that was fantastic. Shortest, probably the shortest guy in the field. And at that point he was leaning way back. So he's definitely shorter and still School of Miami. And maybe that's what, maybe that's the point. Showing kind of like chillaxing or something. I don't know.

Patrick

Speaking of always on fire, Ryan, what do you think of the AAZA overall performance past few weeks? Maybe not the goal, but like how he's been performing for us?

ryan

It's hard. It's hard not to be excited and hopeful for what's to come. Because AAZA was safe. The fair part, he had a very slow start to the season, dealing with some things off the field, on the field. And now that he's in this big role again, like how he has been for this team, he's not slowing down at all. Like he's showing consistency, his consistent strides to raising his standards across each and every game. And he looks even more happier. Like when he's out doing stuff off the pitch on social media and stuff, he looks, everything looks like it's going great for him. So hopefully, you know, good health, good sleep, everything keeps coming and it just takes off the way he does.

Patrick

I'm.

ryan

I'm super proud of him and super, super hopeful for this playoff run that he's, that he's gearing up for.

Granit

You know, they're moving around, he's moving from. You know, he normally likes to play that eight role, but he likes, you know, they put him back in the kind of the six and moving them back and forth and I think he's picking up his stride on both those positions. I think it's fantastic.

ryan

Like you're right. So like last year they had him in the eight and this year it's more of like in between a 6 and a 10, like just rotating those two and he's having different strides in those. And he's just one of those well rounded utility, versatile players. But he is just so dominant in that midfield.

Patrick

I bet you. I'm sorry, Yeah, I was just gonna say I bet you MD Malloy and Pierman are the three happiest guys in the world to be like, hey Pierman, I can just throw you in to whatever. And our other two main guys because we've seen MD kind of solidify that role behind Cal and it works and he is doing it properly but he needs a break every now and then. And same with Malloy and I think this is great. Those guys are like, hey, Hikaza can come in and fill, fill in for me if I have to. And I can come in and clean up some 20 minutes, 15 minutes at the end of a game, but you're not losing a step. And I think he's played his personally, he's put his performances in from last year to this year way above. He looks like a first team all star, like someone who shouldn't be playing with us next year. And I mean that in a good way. Like all kudos to him.

Granit

Do you think there's any link between his work he's been doing with ideal life coaching people and his uptick in performance?

Patrick

I think happy life, happy performance and whatever you do. So I think off the field he's had a lot of positive and that can only reflect in what you do day to day. And his day to day just happens to be a professional footballer.

Granit

God, he's got a good day to day job right now. So let's also talk about. So I was kind of doing a little re watch on and usually I think the announcers are just kind of mediocre and they do and some are really good and some aren't. But one of the announcers that struck me, he says, you know, Charles is making this, this just effortless for them. And I thought that's a cool thought. We're just, it's not, we're going through the motions. We're just out there having fun and we're out there passing the ball and it's not, it doesn't look like we're putting in A whole lot of effort, but we are. But it's that smooth, you know, it's kind of that, you know, slow as smooth and smooth as fast, you know, kind of thing. And that's the way we're. Took Miami out. Just smacked him around.

ryan

It's even better when the opposition recognize that and acknowledge it, too. Not everybody wants to acknowledge that.

Granit

Yeah, except for Patrick. Would you like to acknowledge that, Patrick?

Patrick

No, I refuse to.

Granit

Talk about the other goal because I jumped to Amelio's goal, but there was a goal in between. And that was kind of half a team goal, was it not? I think some player. What's his name? I can't remember his name. If you guys can tell me what his name is. Torres, I think, started out that whole. What was that process for?

Patrick

There's so many logos everywhere. I just couldn't see.

Granit

You couldn't see the Torres on the back. So he started out, I think the ball come to him. He did some kind of back heel and put it in front of him and then passed it in to end up with Cal and Cal putting it across the box. And turned out to be fantastic. Everybody, almost everybody, got a touch on it. Nobody was selfish. Aaron let it kind of flow past him. And I believe it's Arturo coming finish that one off. I remember correctly.

Patrick

I mean, this guy, all he's been working on this past year is his defensive stats. So I think we have a little group chat conversation about this and it.

Granit

Shows that's always do it that I got. I got to become a better defender. Ryan, what are your thoughts on the whole match altogether?

ryan

That is definitely the statement that we had to make, showing that we can take care of these smaller games, or quote unquote, smaller teams, smaller games, while also maintaining our dignity, getting our revenge back over top of Miami, not getting swept by any teams this year. So that's what we're making to strive for and close out this season with Louisville being our next one coming up. I think the Battery put themselves great situation coming out of that Miami game, but the amount of goals, the passing teamwork, they were moved very, very smoothly.

Granit

The one person we didn't talk a whole lot about is Rubio. And the reason why I'm jumping in now, because I was looking through my notes and talk about chances created. Aaron Moy, we're kind of used to him creating some chances. We got four on the night. Juan David got three. And I look over there and Rubio's got four. Like, hey, if you're gonna come in and Create chances. Then I'm gonna stop complaining about you. Good job review.

ryan

Wow. That's pretty impressive, actually, because he didn't start, right?

Granit

No, I put on. I'm checking my notes. He started. Come off in the 59th minute.

ryan

There it is. Yeah, but he started at Cam, too, so he wasn't in his, like, winger or striker role. He was at Cam, so that's a little bit harder.

Granit

But still, if he's putting the chances created in with two of our best midfielders, maybe we can play him in the wrong place all. All along. What else are we going to discuss? Guys.

Patrick

I think we had to touch on. We're at the turning point. We got 12 games left in the season. Big Louisville. Louisville's bigger than anything.

Granit

Yep. This. This is. We're. I think they have a game in hand on us. We're three points ahead of them. They have five draws, one loss. We. We have, what, three losses and two draws or something like that.

ryan

Play two games before we play them, which is our next game.

Granit

I hope they're worn out.

ryan

Yeah, they'll play Frankfurt, and then they'll play North Carolina before playing us.

Granit

Good. They should do that.

ryan

When we play them all games.

Granit

But, yeah, we need. We need the three points. That way we can keep ahead of them and end up for the most points at the end of the regular season.

Patrick

Yeah. And also Good news. The CFC soccer tournament stuff should be done by August 23rd, which is our next home game. So I assume the lot will be back open.

Granit

I don't know what you're talking about, sir.

ryan

And speaking of this, as we mentioned earlier, the Battery not getting swept. Louisville is the only team to have a chance to sweep the Battery this year.

Granit

They don't have a chance. We're gonna beat your ass. They don't have a chance.

Patrick

Do we. Do we have our secret Colombian weapon coming back to America?

Granit

I hope so.

ryan

With some rest, too, because we don't play for another two weeks.

Granit

Hopefully he's not partying too hard down there. Hey. I can't remember which match it was. They did a great interview with him. I think the Battery team did. In halftime, he's discussing all those tattoos, if you haven't seen it. And I think it has to be the Miami match, halftime on espn. This is a great interview with him. And he's talking about all his tattoos and all the means of them and where he gets them. And the guy he. That his artist that he uses down in South San Paulo, I believe Brazil is. It's pretty cool. Pretty Cool. It's got a little emoji on his hand. I thought, oh, that's pretty cool. Because he says like him. This is the kind of big eye, little eye and the tongue hanging out, you know, crazy looking. So if you haven't seen that, you don't have to watch the rest of the match. Just like three goals. But that is worth a couple minutes in between. Just don't fast forward through it. And we talked about the parking lot, smarting lot, the yellow lot. We won't talk about anything else.

Patrick

No. I guess if you haven't got your swag, go grab it. You're running out of time. So.

Granit

Joel, up the little mini scarf. Okay. So I was gonna. We said, mini scarf. I was like, mini scarf, what the hell? And then I saw it and I was like, it's actually not that bad. It's a little mini one. Those hot nights, like last night. Last night was boiling. I work in an office all day and so I don't mind the heat, but last night was boiling.

Patrick

I worked outside all day. It was hot.

Granit

It was, it was like a low country boil. I mean, it was just cooking. At one point, Emilio, I think it was Emilio. You just see this sweat drip from. I was like, okay, I don't feel so bad. This elite athlete out there, even though he's working a little harder than I am, he's sweating and I'm sweating. So we're. We're good.

Patrick

We're both at the top of our game right now.

Granit

I'm in the beer line. I'm stepping quickly forward. Okay. We didn't win the raffle from the regiment last night. We're not bitter about that. Not bitter at all. We're gonna get it next time, though.

Patrick

Well, that's why Ryan doesn't have on.

Granit

His white jersey, cuz it was stolen from him.

Patrick

I thought he was gonna win it next time.

Granit

We're getting a sponsor and they're buying us 3,000 tickets, so we can still lose. If it's Ryan by himself, Ryan wins stuff. If, if I'm involved a win, all I. All I get is a hard time.

Patrick

True. He bought too many tickets into the raffle.

Granit

I. I brought my lethal weapon and it kicked me out. So. Enough said. Anything for the good of the group. No.

Patrick

Let's go kick Louisville's ass and not, not, not leave it up in the air until playoffs of like, they just own us. Let's at least get one back.

Granit

Oh, there's one more thing I want to talk about. Leland played last night. He's getting more minutes. Does he ask Joey center back?

Patrick

Yeah.

ryan

Isn't this such a good.

Patrick

If he's fully fit. Yeah, he does.

Granit

He is wonderful.

Patrick

He's our captain.

Granit

Yeah. Where do we take Joey Jo? I don't.

ryan

I think Joey and Leland play next to each other.

Patrick

What was that random dude we got from the Scrubs last year that we talked about CDM and center back for six months saying never touch the field. You just put him in that makeshift role that we created that doesn't exist.

Granit

I want to see Joey out there. I don't know where to put him.

Patrick

I think he's. Look at playing time. This is just good that you can bring on some solid players. If they're playing a little too soft or not ready yet. You can make that change. But how about. I'd like to see Leland back. I think that this has given him more fire to bring bring his A game again.

Granit

Okay. Leland back in. Joey is our forward.

Patrick

Maybe put him at right back. Cybers having some bad performances. So.

Granit

Ah. I didn't want to go there but anyways so we're not going to go there.

Patrick

We'll leave it for next time.

Granit

We'll leave it for next time. We'll see how Louisville's a big match. Big match. Think about going up there.

ryan

But wait do you.

Patrick

We need some. We need someone on the the outside back specifically where Mark.

ryan

Or do you just put. You give the Santos all or no put the Santos on you. So your back line is the Santos. Graham Smith, Leland, Joey and then you have kind of play in front of them and then have a back line of three center backs.

Granit

You're gonna get BR's dead set on that five back system.

Patrick

Yeah. You're gonna get cooked against a team like it will work. Honestly I couldn't. I could see than Joey starting.

Granit

Did we not try three three at the back. Basically a five back system. And then we had to switch up in the middle of the game.

Patrick

Yeah.

ryan

In the middle of the summer when it was boiling hot.

Patrick

Wasn't it against Tormenta and we lost that.

ryan

We got tormented literally in a swamp with six people.

Patrick

We live in a swamp. Yeah.

ryan

That's why we gotta wait.

Patrick

They're not that far away from us. That's like being like we played in Alaska and it was negative 70. Like okay maybe then it is tormenting like like 200 miles away from each other.

ryan

Brooklyn or something like that or. Or Buffalo next year Milwaukee when these. These crazy teams get circulated.

Granit

That'll be fun. It'll be fun. We. We've got to get this can of crew bust. I had an idea, but it might not look so good for us. We'll work on that. One last thing. Did we mention Toby? Toby Sims in Greenville. We talked about him quickly. About how they. They are moving. Advancing out of the group stage in the knockout stage of Jaegermeister Cup. Then I think it'll be a great thing that if Greenville can go through and just take the whole thing, we're out.

Patrick

What you meant to say was you're welcome, Toby.

Granit

What I meant to say is you're welcome, Toby.

Patrick

Yeah, well.

ryan

And the Battery and still have two of their loanees out there at Greenville too.

Granit

Nice. I think Toby would fit in nice in our system too. But anyways, what do I know Anyways, what do I know? Anyways Ryan. Then you might be able to convince me to go to three backs. But until then, Gold Ryan's a keeper. So he just wants a bunch of goodies. Stand in front of him. He wants a wall.

Patrick

He wants everyone standing from. Hey, if I could get more people laying down on the ground in front of me. Perfect.

Granit

We'll change that we by the end of the season. We're gonna get you a black and yellow wall.

Patrick

I want more security at the the gates. People are just getting in willy nilly.

Granit

That all?

Patrick

That's all I want. I want more. I want more parking lot guards and I want more door guards. That's all I want. Put you. That's a weapon.

Granit

That's a lethal weapon, my friend.

Patrick

Yeah, all right.

Granit

Sorry for you children. Okay. Don't mind the cannons behind me anyways. Okay? We blabbered on too much. Good job, guys.

Patrick

All right.

ryan

See you boys in this Jagermeister Cup.

Speaker A

That scoring punch in there for Charleston.

Granit

1 nil.

Patrick

Lost.

Speaker A

Ravine plays it in front, takes a deflection and goes in.

Granit

One.

Speaker A

And in front Charleston. Make it 2N. And it's MD Myers, a thorn in the side of the rowies all season. We are a lovely as if we will take. But we are the battle rain.
