Welcome to Cannon Crew, a weekly podcast discussing the Charleston Battery.
Speaker AYour host, Granite, will be joined by other defenders of the fleet from the Black and yellow supporters section.
Speaker AAnd together, they will help fortify and conquer.
Speaker AThey are the Cannon Crew.
Speaker BWelcome to the can of Crew podcast.
Speaker BI'm Granite.
Speaker BI am joined, as always, by Patrick.
Speaker CWhat's going on?
Speaker CHow are you guys?
Speaker BGood, man.
Speaker BYou?
Speaker BI see something behind you.
Speaker BYou got the room ready?
Speaker CYeah, room's ready.
Speaker CJust no baby in here yet.
Speaker CSo countdown is still on.
Speaker CWell, we're past.
Speaker CPast the countdown.
Speaker BWell, we're counting on you to make sure you take care of business.
Speaker BDon't be stealing other people's babies, though.
Speaker BThat's not cool.
Speaker BSpeaking of baby thieves.
Speaker BOh, nice.
Speaker BNot Ryan, but Ryan, how are you?
Speaker AI'm doing good.
Speaker AHow are you, Granite?
Speaker BI'm doing all right.
Speaker BSo your baby is past the stage below and is into baby washing.
Speaker BStage.
Speaker BAny advice?
Speaker ASome long nights about it.
Speaker AGet your sleep while you can now.
Speaker BYeah, I.
Speaker BI gave you some advice the other night about baby washing, but maybe we shouldn't say that in here.
Speaker BGetting me in trouble.
Speaker BSo we're here to talk about a little bit about the past match.
Speaker BI don't want to say a whole lot about it.
Speaker BI'll let you guys talk ad nauseam while I yawn.
Speaker BBecause that's exactly what the match was.
Speaker BA loss to Greenville come down here.
Speaker BI think kind of shows the.
Speaker BThe narrow margins that the leagues have between them.
Speaker CYeah, you could say that.
Speaker CI mean, it wasn't our strongest squad.
Speaker CYour.
Speaker CYour boy Juan David wasn't even on the bench.
Speaker CThey use his doppelganger brother instead.
Speaker CBut yeah, I mean, the Battery did dominate.
Speaker CWe just.
Speaker CI think we forgot the most important part, and that's getting the ball in the net.
Speaker BYou don't have to get all the way into the net.
Speaker BJust past the goal line.
Speaker BRight?
Speaker BJust all the way across.
Speaker AWell, I mean, technically, Cal did score.
Speaker AThere's just both sides.
Speaker BWell, that means he didn't score.
Speaker BTechnically.
Speaker BTechnically, he was offside.
Speaker AWell, big going back tonight.
Speaker CI had a great view of that one as well.
Speaker CCause I was at the taco truck, and that is straight across the line where he was.
Speaker CAnd I was like, yep, completely off.
Speaker BThat's fantastic.
Speaker BSo let's talk about tacos.
Speaker BHow was the taco truck?
Speaker CAmazing as always.
Speaker CI think we just went with some classic ones.
Speaker CCouple.
Speaker CCouple fish, couple pollo.
Speaker CSome carne.
Speaker CIt was great.
Speaker CThat was the highlight of the match.
Speaker CThere you go.
Speaker CThat was match highlight right there.
Speaker BTaco truck.
Speaker BWell, the disappointing part is Christian went out there, didn't have a whole lot, and then one player let him down and got a goal.
Speaker BHe came out, made himself big.
Speaker BIt just went over his leg, under his arm.
Speaker BBut he shouldn't ever been put in that position.
Speaker BIt's gotta be frustrating for him.
Speaker AYou know, Christian had a good game, he had good distribution, he had good communication.
Speaker AIt was that one breakdown right before halftime and that, you know, everyone knows is the most vulnerable turn in a match is first 10 minutes in, last five minutes before halftime and then vice versa in the second half as well.
Speaker AYou know, that's two losses in a row in this Jaeger Metro cup, both to USL League one teams, both won zero games.
Speaker ASo, you know, Grant, go back to what you said does show the minimum error, but it also shows too in two years time why promotion and relegation would work so well in usl.
Speaker AThe whole, you know, between the three leagues.
Speaker AI think it's very, this is a good stepping stone for USL and soccer in general.
Speaker ABut this match was just a heartbreaker.
Speaker BI, it's not a heartbreaker.
Speaker BI'm pissed.
Speaker AIt's a heartbreaker.
Speaker AIt was a heartbreaker for me because I wanted them to sport so badly and I mean, I felt like I didn't look at the numbers.
Speaker AI didn't look at the numbers.
Speaker AIt felt like we had like 25 shots and just at one point we.
Speaker BHad, we had three fours on the pitch.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BYou know who we didn't have on the pitch?
Speaker AOne baby.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI've said it in the past that he, he is the playmaker.
Speaker BHe is the one that, that makes things work.
Speaker BThey're the engine that gets, that gets in that middle third and putting shots in.
Speaker AYou know, I think, I think the game is totally different though.
Speaker AGreenville doesn't make that center back sophistication at halftime.
Speaker BI, I think it's totally different if, if, and I want to say it's going to sound bad, but if Sagbers was playing, because last Saturday night he wasn't, he was caught, he was caught several times standing and watching.
Speaker CWell, if you, if you listen back to some of the highlights, apparently he was playing two minutes into the game.
Speaker CI mean, it was Martinez who had the shot on goal, which literally should have had three or four goals in the first five, six minutes of the game.
Speaker CBut the announcer thought Segbers was on the field and taking a shot at goal.
Speaker CSo he was there in spirit for sure.
Speaker BOkay, I'll go with that.
Speaker BI, I, all I know is that he just when the, when the, the play up to the goal was just.
Speaker BHe was so far behind him and, and my boy Nate kind of drifted to the right a little bit because the attack was coming down that left hand side.
Speaker BBut they should never let that happen.
Speaker CI mean it's kind of, it's difficult because they convert one of their only two chances in the game where we had 15 chances, like three or four wide open, like 1v1 scenarios at goal and we just could not place it into the back of the net.
Speaker CSo like this is a team that had the chances.
Speaker CWe can't really say we didn't have our strongest lineup.
Speaker CYeah, we were missing one or two starters from the lineup, but we still had everyone else out there.
Speaker CWe had our playmakers, we had guys creating, you mentioned it, we had three forwards on the pitch at one moment.
Speaker CSo there's no excuse for these guys being in the 18 yard box and not scoring a goal.
Speaker CWhen you have 15 shots you have to convert minimum one of those.
Speaker CAnd I mean it, it, it's a terrible thing to be sitting here talking about a lack of defense on one tiny play which led to a goal.
Speaker CAnd our offense just couldn't even put anything together from all the chances they had.
Speaker BAnd we've seen that before.
Speaker BWe've seen where we just can't seem to score a goal.
Speaker BAnd MD got close second half, just put it over the top of the bar just a little bit.
Speaker BBut I don't know, we got shots.
Speaker BIt was just, we were not really that threatening.
Speaker CSo it led, I think, I think besides the first like six, seven minutes, then it started to settle in a little bit more.
Speaker CBut definitely once they got that goal it was just possession based from us and trying to break it down.
Speaker CAnd kudos to Greenville.
Speaker CThey, they put in that low block which has worked against our team a few times this year and it shut us down and we couldn't break it down anymore.
Speaker CSo I mean the first half was open after their goal.
Speaker CThey completely sealed that game up with how they played and they definitely deserve credit for the second half on that.
Speaker BWell, it led me on a search and I found two articles.
Speaker BOne is, was titled Booted a pragmatic alternative to buildup play.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BAnd the other one is leaving goals on the pitch, evaluating decision making in soccer.
Speaker BAnd the first one was talking about, hey, what's the chances xg, whatever you want to call it, of buildup play of scoring a goal.
Speaker BAnd it kind of, and I haven't read the whole thing and studied it completely, but it was talking about maybe sometimes you just boot it, boot it out.
Speaker BSo out of your end, into the other end, put it out and then go for that 50, 50 ball from the throw in and you have a better chance of scoring sometimes than trying to build up out of the back and then up in a situation like we were where they're just, you know, there's park the bus.
Speaker BThe other one's talking about how we're leave not just any, just not battery, but teams leave some goals on the pitch because they're not taking shots from outside the 18 yard box.
Speaker BAnd that I went, you know, that's where Juan David just fills that void, right, because he's taking shots from outside, he's not inside the box.
Speaker BHe's taking these rocket laser shots from outside and scoring goals.
Speaker BAnd it doesn't have the.
Speaker BBecause we're so driven towards high XG shots which happen to be sitting right in front of the goal within six yards that we don't take the other ones.
Speaker BThat's kind of the premise of the one study.
Speaker BSo Juan David, I'll send it to him and so he can spread around the team.
Speaker CHis obviously his spot he wasn't in and Martinez was in for him.
Speaker CDo you think Rodriguez would have made a bigger difference for Klein in that game?
Speaker CAnd same with I guess also Rubio starting up top instead of just Cal in that MD combo that we've seen.
Speaker BYou know, I like Klein, I like him, I like the way he moves.
Speaker BI like, I like his speed, I like his intensity.
Speaker BSo I don't want to say he wasn't adding to it.
Speaker BRubio, he's not doing anything for me.
Speaker BHow many games we see him in, he has done nothing for us and so I'm glad we have him.
Speaker BBut he's not.
Speaker BIf he can't produce against a team.
Speaker AHe'S going to be out the next weeks, right?
Speaker AHe's going to be out for the next two weeks.
Speaker AHe's got international call up, so we won't have him coming up actually for tomorrow.
Speaker AI think he actually flew out today for international duties with Guatemala.
Speaker ASo we'll see somebody else there.
Speaker AYou know, who I'm starting to question, I haven't seen in a while.
Speaker AIs he injured?
Speaker AJackson Conway.
Speaker CNot injured.
Speaker CHe was on the bench.
Speaker CSo I just, I mean you have guys that you brought in, in Rubio especially.
Speaker CSo he's now getting his chance in this cup game.
Speaker CSo that makes sense.
Speaker CBut he didn't come off the field.
Speaker CLike I just don't think he Was like you said and mentioned, I don't think he added anything to our team.
Speaker CHe really didn't create.
Speaker CWhen we talk about a number nine or number ten and like a goal scorer, you want them to be a true number nine.
Speaker CPushing the ball, receiving it and pushing it and he kind of just kills that play down.
Speaker CHe slows it down a lot.
Speaker CI just, I don't, I don't understand keeping him on the field.
Speaker CHonestly, I think he should have come off and just completely put Cal up there and put MD behind and let the guys work because they've been playing so well together and creating chances that I don't know.
Speaker CI think this is going to be a huge mission for the club.
Speaker CI'm buying this guy and bringing him in because if he's not scoring by now, he's not going to start scoring.
Speaker CThere's no more clicking for a seasoned pro who is on international duty with his, with his team.
Speaker CLike, if you're not scoring goals at club level, you're not going to get better just going away at international level.
Speaker AYou know, I think he's putting more emphasis on his international duties right now.
Speaker AJust if you're just looking at it point blank, him getting all those 90 minutes the other day, staying on the field, you know, he's not going to be playing the next two, two to three games for us, so why not use him for the full 90?
Speaker ABut he also hasn't played a full 90.
Speaker AI don't think he played a full 90 all season for us.
Speaker ASo him leading up to international duty, that was pretty important for him to be able to show that he can last a full 90.
Speaker ASo I, I think a lot of that kind of played into it.
Speaker ABut mentioning Jackson earlier, I think we see him come out against Loud and because we're looking for change now, now that we have a few options, I think Rubio.
Speaker AIs Rubio the only one on international duty?
Speaker CI believe so.
Speaker COkay, so, I mean, does, does he not remind you of the situation we had last year with Jake La Cava?
Speaker CBut Jake La Cava actually performed and kind of played the style we were looking for, whereas Rubio just.
Speaker CHe kind of looks like a lone wolf out there who it's not.
Speaker CThe guys aren't helping him out, but they're making the runs.
Speaker CHe's just not seeing them.
Speaker CAnd he's holding on to the ball a little too much.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AAnd he's Sadie, though.
Speaker BWell, I, I think he was a bad purchase.
Speaker BI let the young people go out there and play because I I do not like that we are building him up to get 90 minutes of into his leg so he can go off to international play.
Speaker BDoesn't do us any good.
Speaker AWell, I mean now we're out of that competition, right?
Speaker ASo there's.
Speaker AWe have two games left, Miami and Tampa and you know, even if we win the two games that can just give us six points.
Speaker AI'm pretty sure we got two undefeated teams in there already.
Speaker CGranite is this is a pretty good eye opener of did we do the right business with Zeke Soto going to Greenville because Rubio essentially is brought in to become the starter along with Cal Jennings to push for a championship in the usl.
Speaker CIf that's not possible, is it a huge miss and should we have just kept Soto and just not went with the Rubio option because at least Zeke has a lot more talent to develop and maybe that progression will go that we've seen in past players.
Speaker BNo, I.
Speaker BI'm 100% with you is that I like the youth, I like the development potential.
Speaker BYou're not going to develop Rubio.
Speaker BIt's just.
Speaker BIt's not going to happen because he's already past that point and you know, I don't know if he brings in a level of.
Speaker BOf I've done a lot so follow what I do and I'm not going to necessarily finish my runs and everything like that and doesn't have that hunger there because maybe he thinks he's better than everyone else.
Speaker BI took as he is an international player and played for a US national team, I do believe but hey, that doesn't get us trophies.
Speaker ASay in my honest opinion, whoever went out and scouted Edwards at center back for us, we need to listen to him and hear his suggestions on any other late transfer ideas we're up for up front to partner with Cal and md I mean I'd be open for it because I mean Edwards has been absolutely outstanding since we've gotten him.
Speaker AI.
Speaker AI feel like it's definitely a different scout than who went after Rubio and I don't know the same hey, let's go.
Speaker BLet's jump on the Edwards horse.
Speaker BFantastic deal right out.
Speaker BHe just stepped in and just his presence is just very calming and.
Speaker BAnd just Joey is a little.
Speaker BI don't say excitable.
Speaker BHe's got a little higher.
Speaker BI don't say energy but higher energy little and so they work very well together.
Speaker AExcited, he's happy and he's got someone there pushing him to that next level to be better to hit that drive of we are an absolute wrecking force in this back line.
Speaker AAnd having when you get Leland back in there we can easily run a three back system with them.
Speaker AThree.
Speaker BOh, let's back system.
Speaker BI sent you all a link to what ours Vanger said about the.
Speaker BThe perfect formation.
Speaker BSo I don't know why you're going back to three bags.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker ASo anyway, anyway it adds option if we need to go forward because obviously we like to throw four forwards up front sometimes when you go or we can get.
Speaker BBut your premise that you can only do that with a three back system I think is incorrect.
Speaker BI think you can get a bunch of forwards up there and you get a bunch of backs up there and have two at the back.
Speaker BI've watched it week in, week out with several teams that Premier League.
Speaker BYou have two backs that are kind of holding down the fort.
Speaker BEverybody else is pushing forward.
Speaker AYeah, I mean but you look at our back line and you have five guys essentially who could be those two.
Speaker BNo, no, I agree 100%.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker ALike that's what I'm saying.
Speaker ASo at least I'm throwing another one out there.
Speaker BWell, we just, we.
Speaker BI think we're missing opportunities on transitions sometimes because we're not pushing it.
Speaker BWe kind of hold up the hold up and let everybody get in that position and maybe that's may.
Speaker BI think that's by instruction from Pyramid because that's the way he likes possession ball.
Speaker BHe likes that buildup and sometimes I think it slows down play and we're not.
Speaker ADon't have that again.
Speaker AYes you do have Torres but Torres pulls the ball back towards.
Speaker APulls the ball back and allows people to get up.
Speaker AYeah, but you don't have Mechanic don't have that taking the guy down the line all the time but cutting towards Goldfoot shot it.
Speaker BHey.
Speaker BWhich moves faster, dribbling the ball or passing it.
Speaker BTorres can cut through two lines of play.
Speaker BHe can pull the ball back.
Speaker BI know, I know.
Speaker BHe likes to get in the middle.
Speaker AHe likes to get his assists and he likes to score absolute bangers from midfield and beyond.
Speaker ABut what we're missing is that third level of attack penetration into the box which Forest provides when he's there, but when he's not there.
Speaker AI mean we had Nick Markening and Barajas on either side.
Speaker AThey're just missing that compliment on the other side.
Speaker AYes, you have Kyle Jennings up top but teams are starting to get comfortable with him now.
Speaker AWe need to elevate him.
Speaker AWe need to push him to be better than what he's getting into right now and right now he's doing fantastic.
Speaker AI mean he's got nine goal, 10 goals in 10 games in USL competition, in USL Championship League play.
Speaker AIt's just still, it's still fantastic.
Speaker AAnd you can take them to an even higher record and possibly break Nick Mercadic's record.
Speaker CI think just to touch on that, Ryan, I, I don't want to harp on it, but I think it's just watching this game, it is the player Rubio who kills that.
Speaker CI think everyone else is creative enough around it and if you, because Cal Jennings played, but if Cal is your main guy and you have MD or even a casa behind him or Rodriguez, you're going to get different opportunities.
Speaker CI think Martinez played amazing.
Speaker CYou still have Blackstock who can push up the field in those roles.
Speaker CAnd I think he's creative enough and fast enough to warrant a team not letting him go 1v1 on their defenders.
Speaker CSo I just think this is a one off like scenario.
Speaker CI don't think we're that dead in the water with Juan David, but I don't think Juan David's not going to play.
Speaker CAnd then Rubio is going to start up top anymore.
Speaker CI think that's now put to bed, put to rest and we're going to just put someone else in up top if we have to.
Speaker CMaybe we'll go back to md starting up there with the cause behind him for these type of games.
Speaker AI mean, give Jackson a shout.
Speaker AI mean last year with his creativity.
Speaker AI mean don't forget he's still the guy who scored against Elena United in the US Open Cup.
Speaker AI mean this guy has provided for Charleston in big moments and he is creative and can poach inside the six yard box of what we need currently at the moment.
Speaker AI was just very shocked he didn't get in last game.
Speaker BWell, he, he hasn't played in a while and Rubio's been playing those minutes.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ABut now with Rubio going out, hopefully Jackson and I hope he scores.
Speaker AYou know, got Loudon coming up this week.
Speaker AYou know what, that's my bold prediction.
Speaker AJackson, super sub coming off the bench.
Speaker BSo I would like.
Speaker BSo maybe this isn't the match for Jackson to start, but he needs.
Speaker ANo, this is match the super sub.
Speaker BYeah, well he needs to get, we need to find some mid table teams, lower level teams and let him get some minutes in there full time.
Speaker BGet him 90 minutes in there so he can create.
Speaker BYeah, you know, he's.
Speaker BI hear you, a super sub.
Speaker BI'm thinking of super subs.
Speaker BIn my head, and they produce, you know, relatively often.
Speaker BBut I don't know if he's.
Speaker BYeah, you get.
Speaker BYou give him 20 minutes and expect him to do something wonderful, and it's hard to do that.
Speaker BBut I think he's still got skills and talents, and I think maybe if we give him some more minutes and so he can build up that confidence because, you know, he was starting behind a couple players and then all of a sudden this might be his chance.
Speaker BAnd all of a sudden Rubio comes in and he start behind three players and he's not getting any minutes.
Speaker ANow if he gets in, he's got to take his opportunity and his chance, and that's what I'm banking on.
Speaker BI, I'd rather see him on the pitch than Rubio right now.
Speaker BAnd that's not going to be a problem because he's off in international duty.
Speaker BNot Jackson.
Speaker BJackson on domestic duty.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BHave we, have we whined about that match long enough?
Speaker CYeah, I think pretty much forward now.
Speaker AWe got this weekend.
Speaker BI said, I got, I got one more thought and I can't remember what it was.
Speaker BI know what it was.
Speaker BSo, so there was.
Speaker BWe're gonna talk about opposing team player.
Speaker BSo, Ryan, you and I got the opportunity to interview Toby Sims, and he played the whole second half.
Speaker BAnd if we need another back, if anybody's listening, I think Toby's the man because he did about four or five different stops where we were almost in on goal and he shut it down.
Speaker BAnd this guy's coming off long season and then he's stepping right here, second half, and not missing a beat.
Speaker BAs a matter of fact, somebody, before I left the stadium, we're talking about him and he says that man was.
Speaker BAs soon as he stepped out there, he was in charge of the back line and he's.
Speaker BHe's what, saved in that second half.
Speaker AAbsolutely agree with it.
Speaker AI mean, when you have four tackles inside your own six yard box, keeping the ball out of the net, it's.
Speaker AIt's hard not to root for it in a way.
Speaker AI mean, you got to keep me high.
Speaker AHushed at times too, because it was hard.
Speaker ANot.
Speaker AIt's weird too, seeing someone that you've played with and shared those times with and then playing against the team that you love so much too.
Speaker AIt's definitely, definitely a hard thing to root for, but amazing to witness and, you know, hopefully he can be brought over to Charleston.
Speaker ABut again, I mean, we have six deep right now, and it's a hard, hard enough to figure out which ones Would be starting.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CIt's a, it's very, very.
Speaker ADon't forget Toby.
Speaker AWhen Toby started the league with Pittsburgh, he was a left winger, so can't play anywhere.
Speaker CWell, let's go from talking about the Battery at the bottom of a league to top of the league.
Speaker BWho's top?
Speaker CWe are first in the league.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker AWe're first in the league.
Speaker AIn the entire league.
Speaker CAnd it's a huge matchup.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker CI mean, we're going against number three.
Speaker BNumber three and up in Virginia.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CWhich is.
Speaker CI, I think it's going to be tough.
Speaker CI mean, Loudon are undefeated at home.
Speaker CThey haven't lost.
Speaker CSo this isn't looking good for our team.
Speaker CComing off a one nil loss to a league one squad and switching over to a very tough opponent where we have to be on our game and ready to bring it.
Speaker BAnd they just come off a win.
Speaker BCorrect.
Speaker BThey beat whoever they were up a matchup against Jagermeister last Saturday.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd they have, I mean we have Kyle Jennings who has 11.
Speaker CI think you had said 10, right.
Speaker CHe does have 11 in the league.
Speaker CBut third in the league is a guy named Obukhora from laden who has seven goals.
Speaker CAnd he's scary.
Speaker CHe's 20 years old.
Speaker CHe's a monster.
Speaker CHe was drafted 10th in the MLS this past year and went down to Loudon and he's been tearing it up and he, he may be young player of the season.
Speaker CTotally insane.
Speaker CI mean he's, he's already have career highs and dual success.
Speaker CPossession one in the final third, which is scary for a team like us who can get countered pretty easily.
Speaker COr these random 50, 50 balls where we see mistakes made.
Speaker CThat's usually how we end up going down in a game.
Speaker CBut yeah, he's won player of the month for March as well in the championship.
Speaker CSo if we have to focus on one player, I think it's Okora.
Speaker CAnd if we shut him down, we have a good shot.
Speaker CBut both teams only have two clean sheets on the ear.
Speaker CSo that's another scary stat.
Speaker CLooking at it going in.
Speaker AOh, I'm thinking it's going to be goals in this game.
Speaker AI mean, you're having two guys early start racing for the golden boot.
Speaker ATwo teams struggling defensively to find their identities in the league and how we play getting adjusted still.
Speaker AAnd the Battery essentially are still trying to figure out what we're doing in the back.
Speaker AAnd yeah, you guys tell me each week why do I keep or not picking for the battery to hold a clean sheet and it's just simply of knowing the battery's identity and knowing at certain moments the breakdowns and we get caught so much in transition loud and are going to exploit that.
Speaker ABut I'm expecting high scoring.
Speaker AGame three, two.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CI mean, both teams have top three in goal scorers and top three in assists.
Speaker CSo I'm right there with you.
Speaker CI don't think it's going to be a defensive showdown.
Speaker CAs much as we talked about how great our defense is for the past like 20 minutes.
Speaker CI think we're going to get scored on, they're going to get scored on, but it's just going to be whoever figures out how to put it in the net a few more times.
Speaker BSo I'm looking at kind of the team stats and one thing that stuck out to me is this is team leaders.
Speaker BTorres chances created.
Speaker BTorres leads our team with 24.
Speaker BTheir chances created, it says too tight at 14, which tells that there's two points of attack.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BThat there's two people that can feed the ball in and help create these chances.
Speaker BThat's a little scary.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CThe main guy is Valo.
Speaker CHe has five assists on the season, so he's tied with Torres for first right now in assistance.
Speaker CSo they do spread it around.
Speaker CBut like I said, their main guy is Abu Kora.
Speaker CSo if we shut the Egyptian down, he.
Speaker CI mean that's probably their best shot.
Speaker CYou can look down that list and they're, they are far stacked down.
Speaker CThey're not in the top 15 with anyone else.
Speaker BSo are they a possession team like us or are they kind of transition team trying to strike back?
Speaker AThey're training.
Speaker CYeah, they're, they're not very high up on the passing, we'll say, I mean.
Speaker ALike, they'll pass it around, they got possession, they'll bop it and everything.
Speaker ABut they're, they're a counter team.
Speaker AThey're on catch you on the transition and I feel like that's why they have it spread out so much because like again, on a corner kick, if you receive, if you are defending, you receive it.
Speaker AYou're just building it up the field to your big man up front and then he takes off with it one on one.
Speaker AI mean, how many times have we already seen that this year highlight tape, USL posting about him taking the defender one on one off of corner kick that the other team took.
Speaker ASo that's a great way right there of, of seeing how they're able to spread it around and not feel threatened by that because it could be from anyone distributing that ball.
Speaker AJust getting it up to them.
Speaker ASo we just have to make sure our corner kicks are properly taken and are threatening.
Speaker CYeah, I think another factor is going to be it's probably going to be very physical with loudon.
Speaker CThey're top 10 and yellow cards.
Speaker CThey have a guy who's top five who.
Speaker CI mean it's 10 games into the season and he has four yellow cards.
Speaker CIt's quite impressive.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CAnd our team, as much as we think we get a lot of reds and stuff like that, we're second to last in yellows for the season.
Speaker CSo I think they're going to bring the game to us a little more and I don't know.
Speaker CI don't think we do well when a team challenges.
Speaker CChallenges us hard like that and goes hard in on tackles.
Speaker CI think we might get into a little game with complaining to the ref.
Speaker CYeah, I just.
Speaker CI hope we don't do that.
Speaker CWe don't fall into that trap and I hope we play our game.
Speaker ABut I think that's a good shot too.
Speaker AThe referee's definitely going to play a factor in this game too.
Speaker AAnd just hoping that the battery keep their heads and just listen and let the referee call the game and not worry about their position and allow Loudon to get frustrated with the calls because if Loud wants to be physical, don't let Loud and dictate the game.
Speaker AJust play our way.
Speaker AI think we'll be good.
Speaker ABut.
Speaker CAnd they may have a familiar face.
Speaker CSo Abukora.
Speaker CCorrect.
Speaker CThis was not the one drafted by in the MLS.
Speaker CIt was Karamoko who we just played against in D.C.
Speaker Cunited.
Speaker CWell he's now on loan.
Speaker CJust went on loan to Loudon.
Speaker CSo it's another really good player who we have have seen and lost to and he may add a little more and not much tape on him because he didn't get any playing time besides the game we played against him at D.C.
Speaker Cunited.
Speaker CSo this is another fresh face who's a very good attacking threat that we have to look out for.
Speaker BWell, I'm going to encourage Pyramid to go with this theory of this paper.
Speaker BBoot it.
Speaker BA pragmatic alternative to build up play.
Speaker APretty.
Speaker BPretty crazy numbers that are talking about.
Speaker BI'll share it later.
Speaker BI'll link it in the notes.
Speaker BI haven't done that before.
Speaker BI'll link the study in the notes.
Speaker BI like science.
Speaker CYou have two guys up top who would be great for that.
Speaker BWell so now that you got me started.
Speaker BSo this is the little table.
Speaker BThey have probability of scoring in next 10 actions following a Throw in or pass out from the back.
Speaker BSo if you're passing out from the back, the probability of scoring is 0.8 or 1 8%.
Speaker BThe probability, probability of scoring if it's a throw in at the other in the attacking part is 0.34%.
Speaker BSo you have a higher percentage of scoring.
Speaker BIf you boot it down, it goes out and then you take the throw in than you do if you try to build out of the back.
Speaker BJust saying.
Speaker CYeah, aesthetically, it looks like garbage.
Speaker CHot, hot garbage.
Speaker BBut you start.
Speaker BSee, I've noticed some teams do it.
Speaker BWhen I started reading this, I was like, I.
Speaker BI've seen a couple teams just not just boot it down and try to get on over the ball over top, but purposely boot it out of bounds from a goal kick or something like that down the field and then gets down to that 50, 50 throw in.
Speaker BWell, maybe a little more than that.
Speaker CBut can you imagine just popping Landry up into the midfield role and being like, hey, you're just going to do wind sprints this match.
Speaker CWe're going to get you eventually.
Speaker BOh, okay.
Speaker BWhat else we gotta talk about?
Speaker CI want to hear your score prediction after all this has been said.
Speaker CWhat are you thinking?
Speaker BSo I'm, I'm gonna, I'm gonna split it.
Speaker BIf Segburs plays, it's 2:1.
Speaker BIf he doesn't play, then it's 2: Nil.
Speaker COkay, Ryan.
Speaker CNot, not the Ryan Martin from Loudon.
Speaker AI'm going with three to two.
Speaker AJackson Conley, late winner, super sub coming in.
Speaker CYeah, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go 2:1 loss.
Speaker CI think they're just gonna take it to us and we're gonna, we're gonna argue more with the ref than play our own game, and we're just not going to be physical enough.
Speaker CSo there's a reason they're undefeated at home.
Speaker BYeah, because they haven't played anybody.
Speaker BI don't know who they play.
Speaker CThey really have.
Speaker CI mean, it's like Hartford and teams like that that aren't that great.
Speaker CI mean, they beat Rhode island, but so have we, so.
Speaker BBut we've scored more.
Speaker BWe've.
Speaker BWe've earned more points at home than they have.
Speaker BPart of it's because we played one more extra match, but we were 15 points from home matches and they're 12.
Speaker BSo even though they're undefeated, they haven't played as many matches as we are.
Speaker BAnd we have more points from home games.
Speaker CI mean, we should, we should have been smart.
Speaker CSince neither team has a draw on the record.
Speaker CSomeone should have picked a draw, right?
Speaker BNext thing, my new jersey.
Speaker BYou see it?
Speaker ALos Santos.
Speaker BYeah, that's fun.
Speaker BAnd I got another one we'll talk about next week.
Speaker AOh, can you see my shirt?
Speaker AThis is the new Oklahoma City United team.
Speaker ANpsl, Brother in law out to Oklahoma.
Speaker BDo you have any batteries on?
Speaker BDo you have any battery?
Speaker BIs your under.
Speaker CNow?
Speaker CAre they playing in the soccer.
Speaker AHuh?
Speaker CIs this a team that would have a team in the soccer tournament?
Speaker AThat lovely competition right now?
Speaker AYeah, I would hope so.
Speaker CIt's a million dollars.
Speaker AThey didn't want me.
Speaker BLet's see.
Speaker CMillion dollars up for grab.
Speaker CGotta get it.
Speaker BPlaying in Virginia, kick off with six o' clock, I think.
Speaker CSix o' clock?
Speaker BYeah, yeah, six o' clock party.
Speaker BAnd I, I, hopefully we're ready and go out there and get a win, come back.
Speaker BThree points.
Speaker CWould be nice.
Speaker CI hope my prediction's completely incorrect and we win five, six.
Speaker ANo, we all hope that.
Speaker BSo did anybody just change the subjects when that storm was off the coast kind of going up, or did anybody feel like it was hurricane weather the other day?
Speaker AYes, 100%.
Speaker AThat's how it felt the entire time.
Speaker AThe rain, the, the wind, everything.
Speaker BThe heat, just nasty.
Speaker BHopefully that visits up there so.
Speaker BSo the Virginia boys can feel some heat.
Speaker BWhat else you got, Patrick?
Speaker BIs that it?
Speaker CThat's it.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CI'm just on.
Speaker CI'm on Countdown watch here, so hopefully I can watch some of this game and hopefully we get the win.
Speaker CBut if not, then good things are.
Speaker BHappening to you and the misses.
Speaker BGood luck.
Speaker BYou don't need it.
Speaker BYou got skills.
Speaker BShe's got talent.
Speaker BYou just awesome cheerleader, loud voice.
Speaker BOh, nice.
Speaker BAnd Ryan, keep working on those washing duties.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker AAnd also to anyone out there, don't forget to check out the TST tournament going on right now in Cary, North Carolina.
Speaker A7v7.
Speaker AIt's great, great entertainment.
Speaker ASoccer, playing for a million bucks.
Speaker APat McAfee's team just one in the round of 32, so that's cool.
Speaker BVery good.
Speaker CAnd Sergio.
Speaker CSergio Aguero.
Speaker ASomeone got him off Laser by Sergio.
Speaker CYeah, someone got him off the streaming services and got him back on the pitch, so it's nice to see.
Speaker AWell, he was in it and he was in it last year, too.
Speaker AIt's.
Speaker AIt's cool seeing him, his involvement with it.
Speaker AI was surprised Ronaldinho didn't get a team involved with him being in Greenville now or having ownership in Greenville now.
Speaker BHe's living in Greenville.
Speaker BWe should go up there.
Speaker AI don't.
Speaker CHe's just an investor.
Speaker CHe's not living.
Speaker AI'm surprised with guero and stuff getting in.
Speaker ALike, Suarez is having a team next year in it.
Speaker BWe don't allow biting, do we?
Speaker BOh, I guess we got spiders.
Speaker CThey allow a fair amount of shoving in this, so it may be allowed.
Speaker BWhat's to keep the biters away?
Speaker BThey're practicing for next year.
Speaker BEveryone, tape up your ears.
Speaker BIt's gonna look like a rugby match.
Speaker BYou know how they have their little.
Speaker CLittle.
Speaker CPut on your pedder.
Speaker CCheck.
Speaker BHelmets.
Speaker CYou better check it out there.
Speaker BOkay, y' all.
Speaker BThat's all I got.
Speaker CAll right.
Speaker CSee you, boys.
Speaker ASee you later.
Speaker AWe are the fleet.
Speaker CYour ship, we will sink.
Speaker ABut we, we are the battle race.
